Crane your neck to take in the ceiling murals and twinkling chandeliers while you sit in the plush velvet seats, sweep down the grand staircase of the main hall and play out your fantasies of living life at court, or just learn about the theatre, without all of the dramatic bits. Tours are offered in Hungarian, English, German, Spanish, Italian and French everyday, and Japanese several times a week. You can also stay for a mini concert in the theatre. After the tour, pop next door to the Callas Restaurant, where you can sip champagne on the terrace while admiring the Opera House's stunning facade."

Prepare to be amazed by the Budapest Opera House! The exterior architecture is impressive, hinting at the treasures within. Stepping inside, we were immediately captivated by the intricate details and opulent design. The building's age (over 150 years!) is hard to believe, as it's been meticulously maintained and restored. Our tour guide was fantastic, providing fascinating insights into the history of the opera house and the artistry behind its creation. Highly recommended!

My 8 year old son and I visited the Opera for a daytime showing of The Nutcracker Ballet just before Christmas, and it was absolutely beautiful! The show was amazing, with its talented dancers and fantastic set designs in such a magnificent building. Book easily and choose seats online in advance. The staff at the front door and coat check were helpful and lovely. There is no enforced dress code, so dress up as much as you desire. We arrived 30 minutes in advance, more than enough to walk inside and settle in our seats. An absolute must-see if visiting Budapest!

Beautiful opulent opera house with an excellent orchestra! Ballet version of The Merry Widow we saw was superb. Beautifully danced and expertly accompanied by both orchestra and conductor. Five star experience

I visited the Hungarian State Opera for an OperaTour, and it was a fantastic experience for anyone who appreciates history and culture. The guide (I’m sorry, I forgot his name) was excellent at explaining everything during the English tour. It was really cool to see how they manage multiple language group tours at the same time with such a systematic approach. The tour ended with a quick but mesmerizing Opera performance, which was a lovely surprise. I’ll definitely be back to experience the full opera show one day! Highly recommend for anyone visiting Budapest! 🎭🎶

The Tour of the Opera house is well worth it to do it. I found it fascinating, they explain all the history of the theatre and at the end some singing. But your tickets in advance on line.

Beautiful building - both inside and out Was just interested in looking at the foyer but got so dazzled by the glamour that had to have a look inside. So rather than pay a huge fee to just have a tour, did the most obvious thing - actually watched a 3 hour performance for a fraction of the cost. (Some tickets are very reasonably priced if you are not a purist and it makes more sense to watch the performance for 10 Euro than pay more than 20 for just a tour of the inside). Highly recommend this experience even if you are not a connoisseur of fine arts

Extremely beautiful opera house. The guided tour is worth every cent, which are held in English, German and French, besides Hungarian, obviously. Very impressive art work, magnificent acoustic and very rich history. Order a tour, you won’t regret it. At the end of the tour, two artist will perform a short play as the icing on the cake 😊 Best would be buy tickets for a whole play.

Hungarian State Opera has such a rich history and extremely astounding. The acoustics in the hall were fantastic! We did not watch a show here, but joined in the guided tour which was wonderful and strongly recommended.
