York House Hotel, a Design Boutique Hotel Lisbon, Portugal

"Housed in a converted Carmelite Convent, this boputique hotel is located a 10-minute walk from Lisbon's city centre. It combines chic, contemporary furnishings with traditional, 17th-century architecture. York House offers air-conditioned guest rooms with elegant fittings and free Wi-Fi. The minibar in each room is stocked with refreshing drinks and snacks. Guests can enjoy Portuguese cuisine in the restaurant with its city views. When weather is nice, the picturesque garden is also available for romantic dinners or a refreshing drink. York House provides an airport shuttle and a car-rental service at an extra charge. The reception is available 24 hours, and the popular shopping area of Amoreiras is 2 km from the hotel." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

The personnel was exceptionally kind and helpful. The room and breakfast were decent. The patio is super cozy and beautiful. It was a great experience.||If you travel with a big luggage it may be somehow difficult to carry it all the way up as the elevator isn’t available yet. Upon departure we’re offered an assistance with our luggage, though it wasn’t required.

Excellent location and wonderful personnel. Breakfast was decent as the rooms were. The patio is very cozy and comfortable. If you travel with big luggage it might be inconvenient somehow (due to absence of elevator), though the staff offered us an assistance during check out.

Stayed for three nights mid-August. Highly recommended - staff were great, rooms were clean & roomy, location was close enough to main centre but without the noise. NB: page the Porter to get your bags up to reception and to your room, particularly in August heat !

Really lovely hotel, lovely staff. 30 minute walk or so to the centre but nice quiet area. Short Uber ride from most attractions. Lovely courtyard for breakfast/drinks.

Recently renovated so rooms are in very good condition, and most importantly despite being on a busy street the hotel is tucked away in a very quiet space. For this part of Lisbon the value is probably the best.

York House came to my rescue at every turn. I wasn’t planning to stay the night in Lisbon but my connecting flight got rebooked for the following night. I booked York House an hour before arriving, and they greeted me warmly right when I got there and showed me to a cozy and quiet room with a cute view. As I was checking out the next day, they offered to watch my luggage for me while I explored the city before heading back to the airport. When it came time for me to retrieve my bag, I discovered I’d left my adapter at a cafe that was closed until the next day. I asked the front desk if there was a place nearby where I could buy one, and he went into a back room and returned with a charging block, insisting that I take it because they had several. I can’t thank them enough for being such great hosts!

We stayed at this beautiful charming hotel for two nights, and loved everything about it, specially the friendly staff. At the time we where about to leave there was this total shutdown of electric in the whole of Pirenea peninsula. The staff was wery helpful to find solutions for all the people that where missing there flight and unable to leave Lisbon under these strange circumstances. We will most definitely stay at York hotel next time we visit Lisbon.

If you are looking for a stylish hotel, ideally located in between the sightseeing spots of Lisbon and Belem, and a place of peace in a bustling city, the York House is the place to go to! |You immediately feel home, with a very friendly and helpful staff, and beautifully decorated rooms.

Yelp
This hotel shows pretty pictures of a hotel but it is basically a B&B with dated fittings etc. Most importantly BE AWARE there is no elevator to access this property, the only way up and down is via 50+ narrow slippy stone steps, there is no mention of this in their sales literature. Our room was noisy with a lot of space under door allowing guests to wake us up at midnight and 2 am, very little space to walk around the bed. The hotel is not particularly inviting, the doorman was more helpful than desk staff, they have also closed their restaurant so there is only a below average room service menu available. We honestly do not know how this property has achieved the "good" reviews shown!

Yelp
A beautiful convent converted hotel, located conveniently with a short ride or pleasant walk away from tourist spots.
