Clean but cramped (which I think is the usual in Tokyo). Super convenient location though. We stayed here for our first trip.

Chose the hotel because there is a bus limo from Narita airport, unfortunately the timing requires us to wait an hour at the airport. Thankfully, it’s not too bad to walk to the hotel with our luggages from Shinjuku station where the other earlier bus limo stopped. Self service check in was quick. There was a hotel staff assisting with check-in. We didn’t get a friendly vibe through the process. Rather mechanical & doesn’t accommodate request for rooms to be close together, we’re still thankful for rooms on the same level although rather far apart. We also heard other guests trying to communicate with the staff at the counter - doesn’t sound friendly. Toiletries are available to be picked up at the lobby. They even have a money changer machine. Apart from the small rooms, it functions alright for a hotel, also have a good bathroom. Ok for short stay, will not be too comfortable for longer stay. Breakfast was alright with good variety - western and Japanese meals available. Unfamiliar with Japan hotel cost, but seems pricey.

Excellent location, just a five minute walk from the maze that is Shinjuku station, and in a surprisingly quiet corner of Shinjuku. Lots of places to eat and drink around the place. We had the standard twin room and it was decently sized, large enough to open our extra large bags. The bathroom was clean, with a great shower and of course the trademark Japanese WC. The amenity corner in the lobby was a godsend, you literally dont need to carry your own toilet kit, they have everything there. Breakfast was good, but being in Japan for the first time we would have liked to have a few more non Japanese options. The people were all great and our five nights passed very pleasantly. A great place to stay for someone looking for a centrally located hotel.

Honestly a great hotel! Very pleasantly surprised with our stay in Shinjuku. Excellently located near marts, shopping centres and trains/buses making it easy to move around Tokyo. Excellent amenities and staff in the lobby who can help with anything. The room small, but excellently planned out so that the room is functional. Very clean and tidy. Highly recommend

The hotel's location is unbeatable - 5 to 10 minutes walk to major shopping malls (Keio, Lumine and Takashimaya/Isetan) and many good food and attractions within the Shinjuku area! The airport shuttle is right at the door step; which is an absolute convenience for travellers! Room is a bit small (atypical for Japan hotels); but very clean and comfortable. Kudos points goes to the amenities bar with all sorts of amenities (Right down to hair masks/facial masks and bath salts) which were totally surprising and scored bonus points with me! :) I will definitely book this hotel again for my next trip to Tokyo.

Our recent stay at this hotel from June 9 to 13, 2025, was marred by a serious incident that occurred in one of the three rooms occupied by our group of five people. My aunt and mother, both seniors, had requested housekeeping services, but upon our return to the hotel on June 11, my aunt discovered that her money was missing from her luggage. She is adamant that she had placed her money in her luggage before leaving the hotel, and in the absence of a hotel safety box, had kept her two envelopes containing 5000 Canadian dollars and 1000 US dollars in her luggage. When she reported the incident to the front desk, the staff, including the manager, were unhelpful and suggested waiting until the housekeeper returned to work the next day at 10 am, rather than reporting the incident to the police. We were forced to spend two hours persuading them to assist us in reporting the incident to the authorities. We were exceedingly disappointed with the manager's attitude. The way he communicated made us feel as though we were fabricating the incident, making us feel uneasy. He consistently claimed that there was no evidence to prove that money had been stolen from the housekeeper or that the hotel was involved, and thus, it was deemed impossible. While we acknowledged that there was no concrete evidence from the housekeeping staff, we merely sought the hotel staff's assistance in reporting the incident to the police and conducting an investigation. We found the hotel's management to be lacking.. To be continue…… the hotel staff ( interpreter)told me there is only one person ( house keeper) entered to the room that day and stayed there for 12 minutes after they go through the camera footage….

We have enjoyed staying at the hotel, the room is nice and clean, staff are always friendly with smiles on their faces and the breakfast choices are plentiful. We would’ve like if the toilet paper is 2-ply, maybe 1 ply is more available in Japan? We are going to stay in your hotels in Hiroshima and the one near the Haneda airport, hopefully the quality matches yours. One thing can help the tourist more is providing breakfast packs say 30 minutes earlier than the usual opening time of 6:30 so we can pick up our breakfasts before the early start tours.

-Great location!: airport limousine bus directly goes to/from the hotel lobby. walking distance from Shinjuku station!! -price: affordable and reasonable considering great quality -room: clean and there's a window that can be opened so you can get fresh air. surrounding area was quiet outside so it was good to have a rest -facility: free amenity kits at lobby, ice machine, washing machine, and microwave at floors -breakfast: everyone was enjoying the buffet, that has a wide selection from Japanese traditional dishes to western dishes, salad, and even other Asian food. + various juices and tea& coffee -staffs: always there for help, very hard working and welcoming guests amazing hotel with best value!! I recommend to everyone visiting shinjuku 😊

Google
A hot spot location! The staff was A1, friendly, accommodating, and professional. Very close to mall, train station, shops and restaurants. The hotel room was a bit stuffy at times, and it was difficult to find the perfect temperature! Idk what was going on with the comforter, but husband and I woke up many nights drenched in sweat. The mini fridge was a bit too small but decent. However, they do provide a ton of free toiletries in the lobby! There is a smoking room on the second floor, and their buffet was delicious with many choices and reasonably priced. I sincerely recommend considering staying here!!

Yelp
Very convenient! The staff were nice and helpful too and they know a good amount of English. What I mean was that a few years back when I went to Japan, many didn't have a lot of confidence in speaking English but now I see them trying and I also did my best with my Japanese, too. It's all good! We took the Friendly Limousine and the last stop was the entrance of this hotel and that was one of the reasons why we picked this place. Also, very convenient as one of the biggest stations in Tokyo is just 5minutes or less from you. The amenities were plenty and there were some surprises too such as numerous kinds of tea and even sheet masks too! We had two beds and I think the beds were larger than twin-size. It was very spacious and this room was very big, for being in Tokyo. I enjoyed my stay here for the week. I also think this was pretty clean and the bathroom was also fairly big, too.

Yelp
Excellent location in the Shinjuku area, just steps away from the subway and JR lines. This is very helpful when carting around luggage, especially after those shopping trips at DonQi's. Rooms are tiny, bathrooms are tiny. But this is mostly what you'll find in Japan. I think for the price, you can probably find better. Highlight is the amenity station, where you can grab everything from face masks, cleansing oil, foam face wash, hair brushes, toothbrushes, shave kits, coffee and teas, and more. Very convenient and nice setup. Although I noticed the face masks were often gone if we got back to the hotel too late - I suspect people were taking more than a few at one time. There's no in-person check-in, although there is staff at a nearby counter. To check-in, go to one of the kiosks and enter your reservation number or just insert your passport. You'll then receive your room keys. Easy!

Yelp
Large hotel with a family mart nearby and a shuttle service that takes you to the airport, just gotta reserve it in advance. They offer breakfast if you pay in advance. The room was generic the bathroom small but it gets the job done. Close enough to the train! You check in and check out using machines but they help you out.

Naomi J.

Yelp
I booked this hotel because it was so close to Shinjyuku station, but it turns out while staying here, we mostly took a subway that is on the opposite side of the station, at least 5-10 minutes away. But that being said, we had a good experience at the hotel: check-in was smooth, staff are multilingual (Chinese, English, etc), and the room was nice. We noticed that several of the hotels we stayed at had very firm/old mattresses and very small/thin pillows, but this hotel was better than average!

Kana L.

Yelp
Average hotel with ok amenities but location is good. Super close to Shinjuku Station. You can even take the back route and cut through the stairs of a building to get on to the Southern Terrace walkway. Restaurant inside. Family Mart close by. Easy access to Haneda or Narita with airport bus pick up directly at hotel.

Yelp
This is a nice hotel in the heart of Tokyo. Pros - Very convenient location in Shinjuku (entrance to small Shinjuku subway station is next to the hotel entrance, the large JR Shinjuku Station is within a few minutes walking distance, the Airport Limousine bus stops here, close to lots of eateries and shopping), hotel entrance is on a quieter side street, check-in/check-out is quick, on-site self service laundry, ice and drink vending machines on multiple floors, free Wi-fi, free items (soap, shampoo, lotion, toothbrush, tea, etc). Cons/issues - there was a small in room refrigerator but it didn't get too cold (didn't feel safe storing perishable food), room rates seem to be higher than other hotels with similar amenities and room sizes.

Herman Y.

Yelp
Nice location and friendly staff. The room is okay in size and the beds are comfy. There are malls close to Shinjuku station for your shopping and dining. Convenience stores are also near by along with subway for transportation. The price for room here is what you expect in this area. The airport limousine also stops here, so that is another convenience.

Yelp
This is not a luxurious hotel but it was fantastic for our needs. The only issue that you may have and it is a big issue is that the pillows provided are very thin and probably insufficient for most Americans. We called the front desk for extra pillows and they provided them very quickly. Since extra pillows will not always be available, one should seriously consider pillow comfort before booking. That issue aside, these are are the advantages of this hotel, which make the Sunroute Shinjuku a very good choice: The limousine bus drops off and picks up in front of the hotel. If you think taking the trains to your hotel will be simple, think again. Lots of train stations have very long exit walks and no escalators. The shinjuku line station is next door. The main shinjuku station for all the other lines is one block away. Check in and check out with the kiosks is very easy, and yes you do have to check out in the lobby. The staff speaks english. Multiple elevators are very quick. Surprisingly good instant coffee and creamer packets are available in the lobby. Water heater is in the room. Room might remind you of a cruise ship cabin. We liked it. The water is treated and filtered and was very pleasant to drink. There is no need to purchase bottled water. Air conditioning worked very well, but it will shut off when you pull the key from the wall switch. Comforters and beds were very comfortable. There are total of 8 washer-dryers on 4 floors. They were very busy during the night but you can monitor availability on the television. Cost is 600yen wash and dry with detergent included. Another 100yen for an extra dry is usually required. 100yen coins or suica accepted. Shower temp and pressure are very good. Water will drain into floor drain. You get used to it after the initial puzzlement. Housekeeping will not enter without requesting it. You can get new towels hung on your door handle by putting a sign on the door. There is a cooler in the room for cooling drinks but not cool enough for long term storage of food. Family Mart is across the street. Fuunji and Udon Shin are easily walkable nearby. Wait on line for Fuunji but get timed ticket for Udon Shin and then wait in your room in comfort:)

Yelp
My wife was searching for a hotel for our second half of our trip and found this gem. It is conveniently located walking distance to the Shinjuku station. There is all kinds of local markets open 24 hours like 711, Lawson's, and Family Mart so you can grab some snacks, drinks, food, etc. The hotel provides free WiFi but when I tried to log on it was kind of slow. Then again we rented portable WiFi so that wasn't a problem and I highly recommend anyone traveling abroad to do so even though there is tons of free WiFi as service can be slow since you're sharing it with a bunch of people. The hotel has washing and drying machines on floors 5,8, and 11. Only one of each on these floors. Hey be smart and pack light as there is tons of things to buy that you want to take back. Or you might have to be like us and buy another bag to pack all your goodies in. BTW the washing machines have a built in soap dispenser so you don't have to worry with buying soap. It cost 300 yen for the washer and 100 yen for 30 minutes for the dryer. The dryer isn't as strong or have different settings. I think it is on regular. The lobby is broad and spacious with very helpful and friendly staff. There is a restaurant that serves American breakfast although we never ate there... Hey come on, why would you want to eat something you can back home. Go out and try the local food. They offer bus service to either Narita or Haneda airport so you don't have to drag your overstuffed bags through the train stations while playing frogger trying to avoid people. Yes tons of people running around in a hurry as the trains are very punctual. So I would recommend reserving it early as it can get booked up and you wouldn't want to pay a taxi to take you as that would be an arm and a leg if you didn't experience how much it costs to catch a taxi. Ok room size, I have to laugh when people write how small the rooms are. Hey this is Japan, the rooms are small. Let me tell you, we did Airbnb and some of those apartments didn't have room for a long desk and we couldn't open both of our big bags but at this hotel we easily lay both bags down and have them open. They provide toiletries like toothbrush, razor, q-tips, body wash, soap, and conditioner.

Yelp
We flew into Haneda and out of Narita. The location in Shinjuku is awesome as the limo bus airport transfer service is right outside the front door. Staff speak "useful" English and seem eager to help. Check in and out was easy and efficient. I preordered a pocket WiFi and front desk handed me the package as soon as I checked in. Hotel WiFi was fast and reliable especially in the lobby. We had a twin room with 2 separate twin beds (US$250 per night end of July rate). It is Japan so we expected the room to be small. Pajamas, toiletries, slippers were provided. There is a fridge and tea supplies but no safe. The shower/ water pressure was great and the bidet + toilet worked perfectly. Breakfast was not included in the rate but available for purchase $19 buffet. There was a heatwave when we were there and the lobby and room AC were a nice and cool respite from the horrendous heat. There are soda/ snack vending machines and ice machines in every floor. There is a luggage weighing scale right in front of the elevators. We had to mail something on a Sunday afternoon and the front desk provided a box and packing supplies. There is also a foreign exchange machine in the lobby if you need to exchange currency. There is also a robot roaming the lobby which is a hit with bored kids. Tour flyers/ brochures are available next to the front desk. Limo bus tickets can be reserved and paid for in the front desk too. The hotel met all our needs. We felt safe in the city the entire time and at all hours. Family mart convenience store, post office, McDonald's and a plethora of restaurants including a conveyor belt sushi is just a few steps away. Shinjuku train station is 5 minutes away and JR rail station and bus station is 10 min walk. I highly 100% recommend this hotel and will definitely book this on a return trip.

Yelp
Super convenient to Shinjuku Station. The rooms and service were great and I was especially happy that the hotel had laundry facilities for guests to use. I would highly recommend this location to anyone visiting Tokyo for the first time or looking for a convenient location from which to explore the city.

Kerry K.

Yelp
This hotel is conveniently located a few minute walk from Shinjuku station. The place was clean and the front staff spoke good English for the most part. Our room was a little small but every hotel room in Tokyo is small. We had a small fridge which we stuffed with drinks we bought from the vending machines. The cleaning staff thoroughly cleaned our room everyday and even asked us if it was clean enough one day. They do offer a breakfast each morning that was about ¥1800 yen and seemed a bit high. We ended up getting McDonalds down the street one morning and eating at various places in the train stations for breakfast so I don't know how the breakfast buffet is at the hotel. We didn't try the dining option at the hotel either as there are so many places to eat inside and around the train station. We chose this place for the location near a train station and worked out well.

Yelp
For what it was it was good. I know hotel rooms in Japan are tiny especially in busy areas like Shinjuku. I went in knowing that and the room was still small. Lol :) Maybe bc we had 2 huge check in luggages... after rearranging some things around we made it work. I shared their Economy Double with my husband & I'd probably upgrade to a little bigger room next time. Price is pretty good/ competitive for the location etc. Location excellent. Loved that it was close to Shinjuku station. Plus the limo bus from the airport stops by right infront of the hotel. Plus the express bus terminal is a 5 min walk from the hotel if you need to catch an early flight like us. Service was great. No complaints. I'd probably stay here again if ever in Tokyo, just upgrade a little. If you are not sharing the room with someone then the Economy Double is good enough. Just alittle tight with someone else.

Brenda C.

Yelp
It's not on the main drag which is why it's more affordable for what you get. They give you hotel slippers, night shirt, personal products and the front desk are fluent in English.

Mike F.

Yelp
We chose the Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku based on the reviews on Hotels.com and TripAdvisor. I'd have to say that, for the most part, it did not disappoint. Pros- - Fantastic location right by Shinjuku Station with tons of great shopping and food options in close walking distance! - Staff very friendly and extremely helpful and spoke very good English - Rooms were not as small and cramped as I had anticipated. It was still small, but it was just fine to serve as a home base for this leg of our trip! Bed was very comfortable and the heat and AC worked perfectly! - Rooms were very clean and were serviced and restocked everyday - 24 hour washer and dryer on the basement level (although there are only 3 of each which can be tough for a full hotel. I was doing laundry at 2 am and still had to wait for others to finish.) -Plenty of toiletries provided during the stay. Cons- - they will not let you check in a minute before the 2 pm check in time. Like not even a minute! This was actually the most irritating thing about this place. We were willing to pay as we had just flew in on a red eye flight from Phuket and were exhausted, but no dice. - Bathrooms are terrible. The door is literally just like an airplane lavatory door. Seriously. The tub creaked so loudly with every movement, I kept waiting for the tub to fall through at any given moment! lol - Never tried the restaurants in the hotel since they were pretty pricey and there were SO many great places, at much better prices, within a 5 minute walk. All said, this was a very good hotel with a great location and I would not hesitate to recommend it! 4 stars.

Val D.

Yelp
We stayed here 2 years ago, and booked it again this year because it is so close to the shinjuku station. It is 1 block away from the south exit of the JR station. This is my favorite hotel because of the deep tub, cleanlinest, amenities, hospitality and convenience to walk to the JR shinjuku station. Although the rooms are smaller than American hotels it's a bit bigger than other japanese hotels. They also have luggage forwarding service to the airport or another hotel. The reception desk is pretty fluent in english. They are only missing moisturizer, which most American hotels provide, but most japanese hotels don't provide it anyway. Best to book early because I made the mistake of waiting to book later, and they raised the price after a week, and a week later (two weeks before our stay) it was sold out.

Nadia K.

Yelp
This hotel came recommended to me by coworkers who had previously stayed in the business hotel in the Shinjuku area. The limousine bus from the Narita airport stops directly at the hotel. Check in was a breeze as the staff speaks English. As was expected the room was small, but very adequate. I was actually surprised that I had a mini fridge in the room which was great. The hotel is minutes away from Shinjuku station making getting around super easy. Check out was 11am so I just had the front desk hold my luggage while I explored the city. Made reservations through agoda.com. Would definitely stay here again.

L I.

Yelp
Self check in/out-tedious to scan your passports urself and the computer couldn't find my reservation. Luckily an employee was able to check me in. Had an issue with check out as the computer didn't recognize our hotel keycards. So I had to ask an employee for assistance. Self serve amenities in the lobby. Airport limo bus stops at the hotel, very convenient. The beds and pillows were too hard for my liking. If u like being in a busy location, you will like this hotel as there's a lot to do all around.

Susan S.

Yelp
We stayed here the last 3 nights of our Japan trip while we were in Tokyo. This was my first time staying in Shinjuku, since all other times we've stayed at Shibuya. I wanted to try a new neighborhood, and I picked this place based on price (affordable), location (close to Shinjuku station), and the fact that the airport limousine picked people up right at the hotel. I might have had a bad room, but our experience wasn't that positive. The biggest reason was the funny smell in the bathroom. I guess I could've asked for another room, but it was just too much of a bother at first, and then it was too late to up and move later. As another reviewer stated, the bathroom smelled dirty... maybe bad sewage or pipes? It kind of got to me by the third day, but we were leaving soon thereafter. One of the things I noticed was their very, very small trash can in the bathroom. Everything was super compact since the room was very small. Service was prompt and efficient. We had to change our airport bus reservation but it was not a problem. We didn't have their breakfast buffet since there are good eats all around. I don't know that I'd stay here again, but it's a solid choice if you're looking for an affordable stay around Shinjuku. Lobby is pretty nice, the room was ok.

Sharon R.

Yelp
Stayed at Sunroute Plaza twice now, and would stay there again. It was a comfortable, modest, business hotel with friendly service. Pros: * Very close to Shinjuku Station, so you're very close from many lines. Makes it convinient for traveling around Tokyo and also coming and going from the airport * Many shops and restaurants close by * Comfortable room (though small) with a good mattress * Clean * Friendly service * Right across a Family Mart and a Japan Post box * Will keep your luggage for some time if you have a future reservation Cons: * The restaurant leaves some to be desired. Was there during the typhoon, so I was grateful it was open, but it's very meat-centric * The bath has a tricky incline that got me several times, in essence making the shower much smaller than it could be

Aimee O.

Yelp
The hotel is in a great location. Close to Shinjuku station and surrounded by tons of food options and entertainment/shopping areas. The room itself is smaller than I thought it was considering the higher price. The bed was very hard and not that comfortable. Check-in was very easy as they recommend using the check-in kiosk. All needed amenities are in the lobby which is convenient.

Maggie C.

Yelp
I am a regular at Hotel Sunroute Shinjuku Plaza. My last trip to Tokyo was actually my third time staying at this Shinjuku hotel. I was actually a little disappointed on my last stay at the hotel. The bathroom smelled kinda funny. It was clean...but it didn't smell too clean. What I like: -Conveniently located, Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku is less than 3 minutes away from Takashimaya and Tokyu Hands. It is located right next to a subway station. You can walk to Shinjuku station in 5 minutes. -The hotel is not that expensive. -They have your basic necessities, such as toiletries, kimono, slippers, coffee, tea and hair dryer. -Airport Limousine stops at this location. What I don't like: -No bellboy helping you with the luggage and no carts. You basically have to bring your 3 luggages yourself :( -Just like most hotels in Japan, this hotel is tiny. -The trash can in the restroom is super tiny. -The front desk is helpful, but not too friendly. Hotel Sunroute Shinjuku was my favorite hotel for a while until I went to Keio Plaza. I would rather pay more ¥ for more amenities and service. 3.5 stars!!

Yelp
I have gone through so many reviews with both Yelp and TripAdvisor, but I decided to plan my hotel stay at this property for many reasons. Located in the heart of Shinjuku, it's very close to the Shinjuku train station--literally a 3 minute walk from the main entrance. In front of the property is a nice cafe, and a Family Mart, and right around the corner is a 7-11, so in essence, you won't need to opt in to pay for a daily USD20 breakfast fee unless you really want a full and big breakfast. The rooms itself were small--and yes, this is Japan, so don't be surprised. It was the perfect size for me since I was a solo traveler, though I wish I had a bit more space to put my suitcase down and open. When you open the door, you come across to turning on the lights using your room key card. Here's a tip: claim that you lost your room card, they'll ask you to fill in a lost key form, and always have one key in the room so you won't come back to a dark room at night--at least have one of the lights on. The bed was a nice size though--and it was quite comfortable. The TV that's placed in front of the room was the perfect size. There's also a nice desk with so many placards, a bit too much for me. What's nice was there was a hot pot--I made my tea at night time to help me sleep better . The closet size is quaint. The bathroom was nice--had some cool amenities, including free toothbrush, and nice shampoo bottles. The tub itself was quite spacious. Another gripe: the furniture was a bit old and worn out. See pictures. The service was phenomenal--the staff can speak English quite well, though I opted to speak my native tongue of Japanese. The one gripe I had about this hotel, which brings my stars from 5 to 4, is that they would not allow me to check in early, even at 11AM. My flight from Singapore arrived into Tokyo at 9AM, and I arrived the property by 11AM. I know they have some empty rooms available, but they would refuse to give them to me. This made things difficult because for one, I wanted to take a shower after a 7 hour flight from my previous city, wanted to put my bag way and change clothes, but without having access to my room, was just not feasible. The hotel also doesn't have a gym, which was a must for me. I should've checked the amenities prior to booking, because I wasn't able to get my daily workouts done. I would stay here again, given location is prime. The check-in times and the lack of a gym was a downfall, but for the price I paid, average of $150/night, the location couldn't be any better. Overall grade: B+/A-

Yelp
Pros: -location. Really close to the Shinjuku action, public transport including Shinjuku station, restaurants, etc -despite the location, it's very quiet -room is ok size. We were here almost a week and it didn't get claustrophobic -comfortable beds -strong ac -free internet -you can join the loyalty club for free and get checkout extended to 1pm -airport limo stops here. Or you can walk a very short distance to catch the Narita express train Cons -Internet is a little slow. We ended up using our pocket wifi -no in room safe Would stay again

C Y.

Yelp
I selected to stay at the Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku because of the location, price, entire rooms are non-smoking now, and is a stop for Airport Limousine Bus. I also liked the fact that they provided card key. So that I didn't need to leave the key at the front desk while I was out. Several hotels where I stayed in Japan still required to leave the key, so it was very convenient. One tip I can provide is, JR Yoyogi station is also a walking distance from the hotel. I walked there to catch JR Yamanote Line when I wanted to avoid the crowds.

Heather S.

Yelp
Being it my first time to Japan, one of my biggest concerns was choosing the wrong accommodation. However, Sunroute Plaza was anything but the wrong accommodation. And here are the reasons: 1) Wonderful service that is very accommodating 2) Very clean room with technology I have never seen in hotels back in the US 3) Location!! Walking distance from the Shinjuku station, with many eateries and shops nearby Some highlights of our room although it is small (which we found to be a standard in Japan but did not mind at all because we were hardly in the room anyway): 1) Defogger in the bathroom mirror! - no more wiping down foggy mirrors after a hot shower 2) Multiple outlets available - adapter not needed on this trip 3) Good quality shampoo, conditioner, and body soap to use with a wide variety of toiletries which include soap sponge, shower caps, q-tips, hair comb, and shaver! which is way more than hotels back in the US ever provided Price is easily above $200 a night, but I felt I've got my money's worth. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
One thing that surprised me about booking a hotel in Tokyo was the lack of rooms that had two beds. That might have been due to me booking at the last minute, but my options were definitely limited. I ended up choosing Hotel Sunroute mostly because they had two beds available, but also because their location was great as it was in Shinjuku and close to many train stations. I would probably give the hotel itself 3.5 stars, but the location was an added bonus here. I was pleasantly surprised about my stay here. The room itself was actually a decent size, especially after staying in a room the size of a closet the day before in Shibuya. The bathroom was clean and wasn't as small as many bathrooms that I researched in Shinjuku. My biggest tip for this hotel is to make sure you know which Hotel Sunroute you're staying at as Google Maps initially took me to one within a 20 min walk from this location. Luckily it wasn't that bad of a walk, but definitely an avoidable mistake.

Yelp
Great value for a stay in Shinjuku. We had never been to Japan before, so it was awesome to hop off the Narita Express, have a decently short walk to the hotel, and to talk to very friendly staff members, all of which seemed to speak great English at the front desk. The room was rather small, but very clean. It's located conveniently close to restaurants, convenience stores, and only about .7 miles to the other major part of Shinjuku. It's also only a train stop away from Harajuku, and 2 away from Shibuya, both of which were also exciting. The only complaint I had was that we were intently stared at by one of the bar staff both times that we went to the second floor bar, and it felt kind of odd, but not a big deal. The Airport Limousine Bus stop at the hotel was awesome, and took so much stress out of a very eventful week of traveling. It took less than an hour to get to Haneda, and it was cheap. The hotel staff organize that very well. If and when I find myself staying in Shinjuku again, I would probably opt to stay here. It was a great experience overall!

Yelp
A great stay here on my trip to Japan. Room is spacious (for Japan standards) and they give you free energy drinks in the fridge. Very convenient area- literally right next to Toei Subway Line (A1 exit) and a multitude of options for breakfast/lunch/dinner/massage/drinking/karaoke!! They sell out fast so book early. Also, there are more than one Hotel Sunroute so make sure you go to the right one- we mistakenly went to the other one lol.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay at Sunroute Plaza. It's centrally located in Shinjuku and near a lot of shopping and eateries. The room we had was pretty tiny, with just a double bed, a desk along one wall, and a small, square bathroom with a tub that probably would fit a petite person if they were laying horizontally. Dare I say it- the double room is best if you're Asian sized! The staff was lovely at checkin and check out, and the concierge was helpful in making reservations for us at the Robot Restaurant. They offered free wifi in the lobby and room, but it was a bit spotty. Also, the data on our phone didn't work well in our room, either. Regardless of the small room, this was a great place to stay, especially if you're the type who wants to explore Tokyo and just need a safe place to leave your belongings!

Yelp
This is definitely one of the better hotels in the area. It's very clean, the staff is very courteous, friendly, and almost all were English speaking. The rooms however, at least what I got was very small - double bed, where one side backs to a wall. Pro: - Airport Bus Stop - actually stops in front of the hotel (ask for times) - 5 min walk to Shinjuku Station - 10 min walk to Yoyogi Station (less congested stop) - variety of shopping complexes within 10 - 15 min walk - both Western and Japanese breakfasts available for one price Cons - small rooms

Yelp
It's always hard to review hotels in Japan with anything less than five stars, even when there are a handful of nitpicks. Sure, the rooms are smaller than American rooms. The bathrooms tend to be somewhat claustrophobic as well. But here's the kicker: they are impeccably clean, staffed by helpful, friendly and (almost always) bi-lingual staff, reasonably priced, and offer a variety of services (in my case, I ordered a massage from the spa downstairs, as I was travel worn and exhausted). There are few hotels more conveniently located within Tokyo as the Sunroute Shinjuku, which is spitting distance from Shinjuku station (on the Yamanote line), and walking distance from the bustling heart of one of the most exciting wards of Tokyo. Harajuku, Shibyua, Ikebukuro and Akihabara are all 15 minutes away or away by train, and for the more adventurous, the "seedy" alleys of Kabuki-cho await on the other side of the station. While you can find better prices for a hotel in Tokyo, the Sunroute Shinjuku is very reasonable considering its location, putting you in the heart of the largest metropolis on Earth, and ensuring that the rest of Tokyo is accessible to you within 30 minutes and a couple train hops.

Yelp
I'm not sure if it's because I'm an Expedia Elite Member or just because they like me, but my room was upgraded and I received 2 free drink tickets! This room is larger than the other rooms I've stayed at in Tokyo, so that was appreciated. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and quick to answer any questions I had, IN ENGLISH. It was a rainy day so they offered me an umbrella, which was MUCH appreciated. The room was cleaned well and all items refilled. Since this is Japan, I left some expensive electronics out. Not to my surprise, they remained when I returned to a cleaned room. ;) On each floor there are ice machines and vending machines (for beer and other drinks). This is very helpful if you don't feel like going out in the rain. The location of the hotel is great. You're a few minutes walk to Shinjuku station and a variety of restaurants are located right outside. The price is a little higher than some of the other hotels a bit farther away. I think you're paying for location and the amenities the hotel offers, like the restaurant located in the lobby. I also LOVED that the Airport Limousine service picks up and drops off at this hotel. VERY convenient when you have a lot of baggage. I'd definitely stay here again!!

Yelp
Location! This hotel is conveniently located close to the train station (~3-6 minute walk). You are near a McDonald's for a quick breakfast. Our room had a view of the street which was nice. Overall quality and service was good. Room was clean. I think it was a bit pricey. They also had my reservation incorrect, so when I arrived I had to pay more for the room I originally wanted . If I didn't have reservation problems and didn't have to pay more, this would have been a 4 star.

Yelp
Lobby area was very spacious. Staff at front desk were efficient and helpful. When checking in early before check in time, hotel is able to hold luggage. The low stars comes from the size of the room. I reserved a standard double room. The size seems to be the normal size in Japan, but to US standards, it is very tiny. There was no room for our luggage. Out of all the rooms that I booked during this trip, this hotel was the smallest. Good location in the city, but the tradeoff was the size of the room. Hotel is located 10 minutes away from the station and shopping stores and there are numerous eating places right outside. Checkout was also hassle free. Once checked out, they are able to hold luggage as well. Airport Limousine also was able to pickup customers from this hotel.

Yelp
Hotel Sunroute Plaza has everything a visitor to Tokyo could need whether it's your first time in Japan or your fiftieth. My husband and I stayed here for several nights on our first visit to Tokyo and I couldn't have chosen a better hotel. First, it's VERY conveniently located- It was a 5ish minute walk between the lobby and Shinjuku Station which not only allows you to easily access all of Tokyo but also make travel outside of Tokyo quite easy. Side note: Shinjuku Station is ENORMOUS so the walk time will vary depending on where you enter/exit. Aside from Shinjuku Station, the hotel is close to several large department stores, Kabuchiko entertainment district, TONS of dining and drinking options, as well as a post office across the street should you need to ship any of the numerous things you will undoubtedly purchase while on vacation. Next, every staff member we encountered is incredibly friendly/prompt/professional and will undoubtedly be able to assist you with anything you might need. The room was small compared to similarly priced hotels we've stayed at in Asia and Europe but was spotless and immaculately cleaned by housekeeping each day. The bathroom was roomy in comparison and equally spotless. My only "complaint" is that we could've used a second luggage rack to free up some already limited floor space. My husband had to zip up his suitcase and shove it in a corner after retrieving his clothing each day/night so we would't trip in it- not a big deal but still a little inconvenient. FYI's: -If you land at Narita, take the Narita Express train to Shinjuku Station to get to the hotel. Upon arriving at platform at Shinjuku Station it only took us 10ish minutes walk to the hotel with our suitcases and carry-ons. -Best dining within walking distance to the hotel: Jiromaro Shinjuku Honten. There are a TON of restaurants, izakaya, and food stalls near the hotel but this was one of my favorite experiences. -Second Best: Family Mart (across the street from the hotel)! Seriously, I love Japanese convenient stores and you will too- try the onigiri, the sandwiches, and the baked goods. It's nothing like convenient stores in the rest of the world. -The front desk can ship your luggage to locations within Japan with the Takkyubin service for a VERY low cost (I think it was $20 USD to send each of our suitcases to Kyoto). This is super convenient if you are taking the Shinkansen to another city as you don't have to haul your luggage through busy stations and worry about whether there will be room to store it on the train. USE this service! -There are coin-operated washers/dryers on several of the floors (soap is automatically dispensed when your start a load) but you'll want to do laundry during off hours to avoid a wait as there is only 1 set on each of the floors that have them. Yay for not having to haul smelly clothes around in your suitcase! To sum it up, this hotel far exceeded my expectations considering how little (relatively speaking) it cost and I would definitely stay there again and recommend that you do the same!

Yelp
Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku in Japan is the best hotel I have ever experienced in my whole life during my travels. Great customer services and very nice room. ***** thanks for the great hospitality!!! Love all the staffs!! Don't listen to haters and complainers because those are the people that made false complains just to get discount deal. 12/30/2016 - Wanlop Anongchanya

Yelp
Seriously the best part about this hotel is the location... So close to shinjuku station! And in the heart of a bunch of shopping. Overall a great stay here from friendly and helpful staff to clean rooms. They even let us borrow umbrellas on a rainy day without making us sign them out or anything! My hugest complaint would be the wifi. The wifi was barely functional.... It was so bad I had to use my pocket wifi inside the hotel room. Also the hotel rooms are a little bit outdated in my opinion. Regardless I would still recommend this hotel for the location convenience and the cleanliness and friendly staff

Yelp
At the current pricing (around $210 per night, including taxes), the Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku was my favorite Tokyo hotel. Location, Location, Location. Close to all the train & subway stations. Restaurants in every price range. Two major city attractions in close proximity (about 1/2 mile each way to either Toyko Metro Towers and Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden Park. Service is very good. The hotel's restaurant is excellent and is reasonably priced (for Tokyo). There is nothing to complain about with the Sunroute Plaza hotel. It would be the first place I'd recommend to anyone traveling to Tokyo and wants an "idiot-proof" place to stay.

Yelp
We stayed in Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku when we were visiting Tokyo in November, the hotel is centrally located and really close to Shinjuku station. From the airport you can take a bus that will drop you off directly at the hotel with your luggage, this was very convenient after a long flight and battling jet lag. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful if you have any questions or need anything. The rooms are small by western standards but that is to be expected, we had a queen sized bed and found the room layout to be very functional and worked well for two people. They provide pajamas, toothbrushes, hair dryer, and all other standard hotel toiletries. The shower had great pressure and although a little short for my 6"4 husband worked well. The restaurant in the hotel is a little pricey but there's lots of other food options within a short walk of the hotel.

Yelp
9/21/17 - Arriving on 9/22/17. So, far great. We contacted the hotel regarding mail being sent from a venue to their hotel. Akira Takamori has been a great pleasure. Akira provided prompt response and assured us that the mail will be taken with care. The hotel's correspondence with us has been truly professional and courteous. We look forward to our arrival and will complete a full review of the hotel once I have the opportunity. 10/23/17 - Back from the Trip - Very nice hotel. Alcohol at the bar...super stingy on the amount. The food was pretty good. The beds are small but I guess that is the norm. The hotel was clean and the staff were nice the friendly. No issues. The location is great. Very close to the station if you needed and tons of local eateries in the area. I would highly recommend this hotel if you wanted to stay in Shinjuku area.

Yelp
Great location, clean, has a fridge in the room. FYI - For those traveling with lots of luggage, the hotel does not offer a bell desk. They do offer a self-service stroller to load your luggage's at no cost. Laundry facilities are available through the front desk. Laundry bag is in the writing desk in your room. Massage service is available from 19:00 to 2:00am. Every floor has a vending machine that offers - card release machine, soft drink, alcohol, and ice cube.

Yelp
I took advantage of the good price and stayed at this hotel and it was certainly worth every cent! In fact among all the places I stayed in Tokyo, this has to be my favourite. Why? Good location and comfortable room. However, its better for a single traveller due to the small size which is adequate for me. For fussy travellers, you might want to find bigger rooms elsewhere. My stay at the hotel was a pleasant one, the staff were friendly and helpful. One of them took the trouble to recommend the good eating places, not just the tourists ones which I am very grateful for. The room may be small, but its clean and comfortable! Free WiFi and connection is strong so chatting with my friends on skype and watching youtube was not an issue for me. Location of the hotel is conveniently situated in Shinjuku, walking distance from the JR station, just walk across the bridge (over the railway tracks) and you are there, so you need not worry about taking a cab or walking long distance to get to the hotel. If the price is right, I will definitely return to this hotel. My good friends also use this hotel on their Japan trip, we find this to be a pleasant hotel to stay, highly recommended!

Yelp
I adore this hotel! The rooms are clean and adorable (small, but that's to be expected). Everything you could ever need is found in the rooms, be it a toothbrush, toothpaste, a razor, shower cap, hair brush, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash or blow dryer. There's laundry on a few of the floors, the housekeepers are amazing, and all of the staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is also absolutely incredible and convenient! Right next to a huge shopping center, Shinjuku Station for trains and busses to explore Japan and very close to touristy areas like Shibuya. Breakfast is not included (it's available everyday but you need to pay for each person every time) and I didn't try their food, but to be honest that's not too big of a deal considering you're surrounded by so many restaurants in Japan. 100% will return.

Yelp
If you're looking for a clean, comfortable and convenient place to lay your head at night - this is the hotel for you! The room is small but has everything you need - clean bathroom, comfortable bed, desk, pot for hot tea or coffee and tv. No frills here but also without the big price tag. The best thing about this hotel is after a day full of sightseeing, your home away from home is only a block or two from the major train station and adjacent to another line. The airport limousine drops off directly at the hotel or during the off-hours, very close by (though I'd recommend taking the train, it is just as easy!) Great hotel for the price! The breakfast buffet wasn't included in our rate, but we did eat there a couple of times during our stay and we thought it was well worth the 1750.

Yelp
Hotel Sunroute Plaza is the place to stay in Shinjuku or in Tokyo for that matter. It's centrally located to everything you would need! Let's dive into the details! ROOM - 4 Stars: Hotel Sunroute Plaza is newly renovated, modern, priced reasonably, and most of all clean! When I was searching for a hotel, my main concerns were how modern it as I didn't want anything old, how clean it was for obvious reasons, and a prime location with easy access to everything. I have to note that by American standards the rooms are indeed small. By default, most things in Japan are small, but this shouldn't be a surprise considering space is a premium. Besides, you want to spend your time exploring Tokyo... not staying in the room all day! ;) There is free wifi available in the lobby and in the room. The room was fully equipped with a beautiful TV that played plenty of Japanese channels and had a light sprinkling of Chinese, American, and other foreign channels. There was air conditioning and heating available at your fingertips. The bathroom had everything that you needed including soap and shampoo. I want to point out that there wasn't a safe available though. Not a big deal, but something worth noting for some folks. We had a double bed and it had decent level of comfort. The pillows were kinda eh... but other than that, it was a pretty good room. SERVICE - 10 Stars: The staff is fluent in English and Japanese. They did a great job of answering all of our questions. We asked everything from where can we buy chocolate, candy, mochi, etc. We also had to take an unexpected trip to the doctor and the staff was extremely helpful not only with providing directions, but also calling the doctor's office and translating for us. This was a HUGE help since unexpected medical issues can be a pain (no pun intended). We even asked about cough medicine since we can't read the names at the drug store and they simply gave some to us. To top it off, after asking about where to buy chocolate, mochi, and whatnot, the staff member at the front desk who assisted me even followed up to see if I was able to find what I needed! They seriously went above and beyond with all the help they provided! They did an amazing job at making our trip as great as it could be just based on their high level of service. Also, if you need to reserve a shuttle bus to Narita or Haneda Airport, the staff will help you make the reservation or assist you with alternative methods such as directions using the train system and where to go to reserve seats for the Narita Express. LOCATION - 5 Stars: This hotel is completely in the center of everything in Shinjuku. It's perfectly located near EVERYTHING. There's a McDonald's, First Kitchen, Yoshinoya, plenty of convenience stores like 7-11, drug stores, electronic shops, places to play games, pachinko parlors, etc., which are all nearby. Of course, you can find all kinds of Japanese food you can imagine ranging from ramen to udon to katsu to sushi to pastries. All of this is within a few minutes walking distance from the hotel. The hotel has maps for food and stores in the local area as well. The JR Shinjuku Station is only a few minutes away and you can get to anywhere you need to go! The station is massive since it also has several department stores such as Lumine Est, Lumine 1, Lumine 2, Odakyu Ace, Odakyu Mylord, Odakyu department store, Keio mall, and Keio department store. There are many places to eat in the station as well as in each of the department stores. There is not only Japanese food, but different types of food from around the world. There's American, Hawaiian, French, Italian, Korean, Chinese, etc. The list goes on. I will be happy to report that there's also a Dean and Deluca as well as a Laduree in Lumine! There are other places to eat and shop throughout the station. Just walk around and you'll find something to eat with no problem. The best way to get to the hotel is to use the Toei Oedo Line at Shinjuku Station. Just use Exit A1 and the hotel will be on your left... literally just a few steps away. I made the mistake of not looking at this detail and I ended up going to the main Shinjuku Station using a different subway line since I figured we could just use tunnels to find the correct exit. However, The Toei Oedo line has a Shinjuku Station, but it's not connected in any way to the main part of the Shinjuku Station. So, be mindful of this to avoid having a longer walk than what would actually be needed and would probably be more difficult if you're dragging luggage with you. RECOMMENDATION: This place is AWESOME! I'm so glad I decided to book this hotel for my group. It's location was perfect and the service was off the charts. The room relative to the price I paid was definitely on par. I highly, highly, highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Tokyo. You will not regret it!

Yelp
A hotel with a great location close to the train station Shinjuku. As Shinjuku is a hub where most subway lines pass by it is very easy to travel around in Tokyo. This is the third time we use this hotel and are as always real happy! The rooms are on the small side (as normal in Tokyo) but the beds and pillows make up for it as they are super comfy. Hotel is located in a quiet area and we have never had any problems with noise. Staff and reception are real kind and helpful and you can borrow umbrellas and such from them. The only real downside is the food and breakfast served in their restaurant. The quality is not so good and the selection of dishes are sometimes real strange. (Like pizza with cow intestines...) Also good to know that the breakfast buffet is not cooked by the hotel, but delivered from a third party. This means they have limited knowledge of what ingredients that have gone into the dishes and cannot answer dietary questions. Most dishes have some allergy labels noted though. As a GF you will have a very limited selection of foods, so I would not recommend having your breakfast here. But I would gladly recommend this hotel and will more than likely stay here again!

Yelp
We stayed here from September 28 until October 9 on our first trip to Tokyo. We mainly chose this hotel since it was super close to the Shinjuku Station, has laundry service and is a stop for the Airport Limousine Bus. Everything was great about this hotel, but I took a star off because the room size was small. I know most hotels in Tokyo are small but since I bought so much stuff towards the end of the trip I just felt so cramped in the room. It was my husband and I in this small room. They do provide you with toiletries (tooth brush/paste, razors, hair brush, q-tips, bath sponge, shower cap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash), pjs, house slippers, fridge, paper shredder, hair dryer, hot water maker and tea. The room was clean and the towels and sheets looked new. In order to get to the floors with guest rooms you need to use your room key so that was a good sense of security (even though I felt safe wherever we went in Japan). The laundry rooms were on certain floors but all the other floors have vending machines that have water, juice, soda and alcohol. We never tried the restaurants at the hotel but hey looked good. The location of this hotel is so awesome. There's a family mart, McDonald's, post office and 7/11 that are less than 5 minutes away. The shinjuku station is 5-6 min walk away. They do have a great spa that we used for a full body massage (which was awesome). You can also book a ride to the airport using the Airport Limousine Bus that picks you up right at this hotel. That was great because we had 4 pieces of luggage that we were going to check in that were full of goodies we bought on this trip. And I was not about to be that person to try to lug all that luggage on the trains. They were celebrating their 10th anniversary so they provided us with 2 free cans of tangerine soda. I loved how they had halloween decorations up! They also have free WiFi. It was ok but when I would stream movies or videos I would use my personal WiFi since the hotel one is a litter slow. I would stay here again if we get a bigger room hahhahaa! But the service was great and they spoke English. Well everyone except the house keepers ( I think they spoke Chinese?) But it was a great stay at this hotel !

Yelp
This was the lovely hotel that we stayed at for almost 2 weeks. Though I love the Tokyo Hilton so dearly, the price is just a little too much for us. Hotel Sunroute was reasonable, clean, modern, and RIGHT by the train stations. From the Hilton, we probably had to walk a good 15-20 minutes every day just to get there. Hotel Sunroute? Either walk to a station that's located literally right next door, or 5 minutes across the street. SO MUCH CONVENIENCE! Not to mention there's a Family Mart directly across the street, and a Starbucks not too far downwards. The employees were all very nice and accommodating. Some spoke English very well, others not too much. Not a problem, though! Our room was quite small..we got the economy double. Small, yet comfy..and it was something we got used to within a day or 2. We just had to move a couple of thangs around to fit our luggage into areas lol. Comes with free wifi, a mini fridge, all the amenities you need in the bathroom (minus lotion which I was kind of bummed about), huge bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body soap. LOVE IT! You control the electricity in your room by putting the room key in the slot. The only thing I didn't like too too much was when you would be taking a shower, the walls would immediately sweat. But, other than that..it was a great stay! I know for sure when I go back to Japan, I'm going to be staying here again....but getting a bigger room lol.
