Hotel Stary

This was my first time in Krakow and as a solo traveller.|I received a professional and warm welcome from this hotel and was allowed to check in on arrival (at 11am) which was a huge bonus. The room was gorgeous. Solid wooden doors which were beautiful and large comfortable bed, desk adn chair. Very well maintained. I asked for a quiet room and therefore my view was of an internal courtyard and was perfect. There is a lovely rooftop bar where the staff are excellent. I had one of the best massages I've had for a long time from a male member of staff whose name I sadly can't remember (I'm sorry) but it was brilliant. The hotel is almost in the town square which is the ideal location for everything. |There are two pools (both small and side by side) one I found too cold, but the other had a jacuzzi effect and a waterfall spout into the pool, this was warmer and better. There is a relaxing salt room and sauna.|I would not hesitate to go back to this hotel, especially as a solo female traveller. It was secure, clean, and well run. Brilliant stay and I will be back!

My wife and I arrived from Toronto via Amsterdam so were pleased to get our room straight away. The hotel comprises of two old properties joined together. We had a junior suite which was impressively large built into the roof with a sloping glass ceiling. I am not sure that the huge free standing bath tub next to the bed added to the appeal. There was a bathroom with toilet and shower as well. The bed was very comfortable. The sloping glass roof was well shuttered at night. Breakfast was in a dining area on the ground floor. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant but had room service from the same kitchen which was excellent. |The staff were really helpful and pleasant.

From my arrival I found the staff welcoming and helpful, a kettle and more pillows were delivered to my room with a smile. I loved my room, which was spacious and very comfortable. Lovely toiletries too. |My travelling companion was unfortunately delayed, late, luggage lost and allocated a room in the annex part of the hotel which she initially was not very happy with. However as our stay went on we were more and more impressed with the hotel, staff and service. We ate in the restaurant once during our stay and thoroughly enjoyed the food and wine, and the waiting staff were excellent. We did not go to breakfast so cannot comment. |The pool and spa are a real bonus after a day of sightseeing and the location of the hotel couldn’t be better. |Absolutely recommended and we will be returning.

Very service minded staff. Stayed for a week, two years in a row. Got an upgraded room (for the entire stay) at no extra cost due to some mix up. Staff gladly arranges transport for you from/to airport and other visits (Auschwitz, Schindler's factory etc). Swimming pool is almost always open and never crowded. The taxi driver who drove us to the airport took off with some of my luggage. A telephone call to Stary hotel and ten minutes later, the driver returned with the rest of my luggage. (The infamous blue walking stick). Well done! Dziękuję (thank you).

Really lovely, stylish hotel with a lovely (and quite unique) spa! Our room was large and had so much character and original features. All areas of the hotel were clean and just generally lovely. The spa was great and a big bonus was that it opened until late (maybe 10/11pm) which meant you could relax there after a long day of sight seeing. Great location in walking distance to the main areas of Krakow.

Hotel Stary was a wonderful hotel. I’m glad I chose to stay there! It was in a great location, the spa and pool were fantastic, and the hotel staff were very welcoming and kind. The salt cave was great for helping with jet lag. I would definitely stay here again!

This is a lovely hotel and a prime spot for sightseeing in Poland since it sits next to the Market Square in Oldtown Krakow. The design of the lobby and rooms is very chic, almost modern gothic. Apparently the hotel has won awards for its interior, which are well-deserved as it is a very stylish place. Although the rooms are elegant, they do lose points for comfort. The furniture and bed could be more comfortable, and you only get one pillow per person unless you request an additional one (!). Moreover, there were no coffee and tea-making facilities, so small basic changes like that could really improve the place.||We did not dine in the hotel, but we did have breakfast, which was a very mixed bag. My partner is allergic to gluten and dairy, which we emailed the hotel about well in advance. However, my partner was given some cooked breakfast dishes with dairy in the, by mistake. The management reaction vaulted between blasé and overly apologetic. They maintained they would rectify the situation and make sure it would not happen in the following days, but they did still make a few mistakes with basic dishes like porridge. So, be careful if you have allergies here. If management improved this issue and other issues above, this would be a 5-star review.||All in all, this hotel is good, but does have some work to do on the fundamentals of a comfortable stay, particularly for people with allergies. One thing that is certain, though, is there are few better hotel locations that serve as a base for sightseeing in Krakow. So, I'd highly recommend Hotel Stary even with its limitations. Also, it has a secret weapon … the cocktail bar. The cocktails in the hotel are excellent and the bartender very skilled. Definitely try their Singapore Sling!

This place is nice because of the view of the Market Square and St. Mary's Basilica. Good coffee, nicely presented macaroons, delicious Parma ham with melon and great lemonade. Professional waiter service and a nice atmosphere, quiet... only the clatter of horses' hooves, the muffled voices of tourists and the grateful laughter of children. There could be some gentle music in the background, but it's fine without it.
