Hotel St Moritz Queenstown - MGallery Collection

Enjoyed two nights having travelled direct from London. The front of house team were excellent throughout our stay. We ate in the restaurant both evenings. The food was excellent and the restaurant team were again top notch. We had cycles delivered for an 'Around the Mountain' cycle trip, left luggage for four nights until our return, had other bags collected to courier to other hotels, all of which the concierge team managed well. Rooms were very comfortable and quiet with great views over the lake. All in all a great experience.

We had booked the St Moritz, for a piece of luxury at the end of a month long holiday in Hawaii and New Zealand. ||The hotel is lovely and located on a hill overlooking the beautiful lake Wakatipu and surrounding mountains. The downside of the hotel being located on a hill is the steep walk up and down to the town, but this didn’t bother us. ||The staff are super friendly and helpful, the rooms are of 5 star quality with all the amenities you would expect. The bed was insanely comfortable and therefore slept really well. ||The inclusive breakfast was excellent and dining room had great views over the lake. ||The nightly cost was a little over our usual budget, but it was well worth it. If you choose not to have the room cleaned, you receive a $10 per person credit to use in the restaurant, which we intend to do on our last night. ||Highly recommended!

Unfortunately, I stayed there on one of the hottest days in years. The room had no air conditioning, so every time I walked in, it was hot and extremely muggy. Even with the fan running all night, I was still hot and sweating, which made it hard to sleep (though, to be fair, we are used to colder climates). My room faced the car park, so I didn’t open the window due to privacy and security concerns. The team acknowledged the issue and did their best to help, which I really appreciated. Special thanks to Maddy, who went above and beyond! She was incredibly nice, super helpful, and resolved the problem very quickly (there was some miscommunication with housekeeping when I was changing rooms). Housekeeping was excellent—they cleaned the room daily, restocked amenities, and maintained all areas to a very high standard. It was amazing! Breakfast and barista-made coffee were also delicious. Outstanding cocktails at bar:)

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights . Beautiful setting and helpful staff. On our first day we wanted to make a dinner reservation however they told us that they were booked, We went anyway to find that there was plenty of space and empty tables. This morning we had to take an early bus tour at 630am and could not take a shower because the water was boiling hot. They later told us at the desk that there is only hot water early in the morning and that if we ran it for ten minutes it will become warm. One more comment, the cleaning crew is not very reliable because our last 2 days we did not have refill for vanity pack nor for drinking water.

We booked an Alpine Suite at the St Moritz Hotel from 2-4 January 2025. Upon arrival at the hotel the car park was full despite booking a space in advance. We had to leave our car at the hotel entrance and leave our car key so the hotel staff can park our car when a space became available. Our room was located on level 4. As soon as we entered our room we noticed the room was very hot and that there was a Dyson fan already turned on to try to cool the room down. Both TVs in the lounge area and the bedroom were not working. We called and a female staff came to try to fix them. She had to lift the tv out of the bracket in order to reach the reset button which solved the issue temporarily. The TVs stopped working during our last day and we just couldn’t be bothered to phone and ask for them to be fixed again! The female staff also mentioned that there are only ACs for levels 5 & 6 and since our room is on L4 we only have a Dyson fan in the room but it was still too hot so she gave us an extra fan to put in the bedroom which didn’t make any difference and we still had to open the windows to cool the room. This in itself was also very inconvenient due to the room being a non-lake view suite and a pedestrian footpath being at the same level as the windows with noise every time someone walked past the open windows.||We appreciate the hotel’s green initiative by not providing UHT milk cartons for tea and coffee in the room. They suggested guests to order fresh milk through their App which we did but the milk never arrived! ||On our last day whilst having breakfast at the hotel restaurant we tried to order a ham or chicken sandwich to takeaway as we had a long drive ahead of us but the restaurant staff told us that they weren’t able to make a sandwich until lunchtime! We were shocked to learn that a 5-star hotel isn’t able to make a simple sandwich until after a certain time! Breakfast was uninspiring there was no fresh cut fruits only fruit salad. ||Whilst the hotel is located in an elevated position and enjoys a beautiful lake view from the restaurant and some rooms we were disappointed with the level of service. Based on our experience we would not recommend the hotel to anyone and definitely not the Alpine suite with no AC. This is certainly not the service we would expect from a 5-star hotel.

The rooms themselves were lovely. The service was fine. That said, our room was terribly hot at night in spite of 3 fans at use. The lack of air conditioning for a "5 star hotel" is damned terrible. That should be communicated in parallel with booking. And when asked to be moved, the best option was a reduced rate increase of $150/night. Really - is that the best you can do (we declined it). So we suffered through 2 more nights with fans set up in series, trying to direct air flow from an open door to the bedroom And yes, suffered a few bug bites with this as well. Very, very poor experience.

Very nice hotel. Enjoyed the room service. Gym is small but includes most of what you would want. Two small outdoor hot tubs were very nice and clean. Room was small, but also had everything needed. Espresso machine was a nice touch. We did not have a view. Our room over-looked the driveway. There was a bit of noise from the front of the building, but not too bad. It was nice to have a large fan in the room to drown out a bit of noise.

Staff was helpful during check-in and valet parking. Unfortunately the room was too warm for a goodnight sleep. We called reception around 11 pm on Sunday night only to find out that there was no air-conditioning in the room. While booking or check-in, there was no mention that there was no air-conditioning in the room. We were told to leave the windows open to let cool air into the room and we were provided 2 fans to cool down the room. A 5 star accommodation with fans..wow. What is the point of paying almost $2k when we can't get a good night's sleep. When we asked for another room, we were told that the accommodation was at full capacity & any changes cannot be accommodated. To our surprise, when we returned from dinner on Monday night, we saw a couple were offered a room exchange, for whatever reason. I felt disadvantaged and could not understand why our request could not be accommodated. If you cannot stand a warm night, please consider other options. There are better and reasonable options in Queenstown. We are also reconsidering our membership with Accor as I cannot see any benefit if I can't have a good time at a 5 star accommodation.
