"South Indian Delights at Saravana Bhavan Dosas, thalis, and tiffins! Saravana Bhavan specializes in South Indian cuisine. Each dosa comes with unlimited sambar and three chutneys - the tomato chutney being the house favorite. It is authentic, vegetarian, and very popular with the locals. Waits, especially on weekends, can be lengthy. Be sure and sample the Rava Masala Dosa, washed down with fresh lime juice."

If you're searching for a reasonably priced place with good-quality food, you'll love it. Even the portion size is bigger, so you do not have to worry about ordering another dish. The staff were super friendly .

On my trip to Germany I came across this restaurant called Saravana Bhavan. If you're craving authentic South Indian food in Berlin, Saravana Bhavan is the place to be. Located conveniently in the heart of the city, this vegetarian haven delivers a delicious slice of Tamil Nadu right to your table. From the moment we stepped in, the warm hospitality set the tone. Special mention to Mr. Akshay, who made our experience exceptional with his courteous and attentive service. He patiently walked us through the menu, offered great recommendations, and ensured we were comfortable throughout. We tried the Mini Tiffin, which was perfect — crispy dosa, fluffy idlis, vada, special rice , and a mini dessert — all served with piping hot sambar and three types of chutneys. The dosa was thin, golden, and crispy, just like back home, and the filter coffee was spot on — strong, aromatic, and served the traditional way in a tumbler and dabarah. The ambience is clean and simple, staying true to the brand’s roots — functional yet welcoming. You’ll find a mix of locals and Indians, which is always a sign of a place doing things right. Whether you're missing home-cooked South Indian food or introducing your friends to Indian vegetarian cuisine, Saravana Bhavan in Berlin is an experience worth having. With excellent food, authentic flavors, and impeccable service (shoutout again to Mr. Akshay, the one with great moustache), it’s a must-visit.

Nice authentic south Indian food at a reasonable price. There was a wait of 10-15 mins on Sunday night at 8.30pm.

The restaurant had a-lot of items on their menu, I recommend getting the dosa since it is freshly made with masala tea. The service from the staff was good and fast. I would rate the food 8.3/10!

The taste of Dosa was mind blowing, we ordered Masala Dosai and Cheese Veg Dosai. Cheese veg dosai was tasting like pizza without oregano and chilli flakes but it was tasty. Masala dosa was also very delicious. But outside there was waiting to go inside , we waited for almost 20 minutes then we got our table. But the wait was worth it. Price Is also okay. And their menu has a lot different kinds of option. I recommend you should also try it.

Food is worth the price. You can explore great amount of south Indian varieties- especially tamil ones. I will recommend their dry fruits dosa which might sound indifferent but worth it. Apart from that food taste different in comparison to other south indin cuisines. Must try filter coffee after meal , which is great way to End the meal here. Might have to wait 10-20 minutes during peak hours.

Was here for lunch. Ordered one Onion Masala Dosa first and later one Thali. The staffs seem to be bit confused sometimes, maybe because of the volume of orders. Dosa was delicious but the sambar could’ve been better. All chutneys were nice. Was expecting the Dosa to be crispy, but it was soft. After having the Dosa, I asked the staffs to serve the Thali after 20-30 mins to which they agreed. In the meantime a glass of buttermilk was served, which I didn’t order. I thought it was a complimentary drink. It was there on my table for about10 minutes before I took a sip. Then a lady staff came and asked whether I started drinking the buttermilk or not, to which I replied yes. Then she said it wasn’t meant for me, and it was wrongly served on my table. Later she said I have to pay for it as I drank it, even though I didn’t order. So unprofessionalism. Not so great experience here at this outlet of Sarvana Bhavan as well. Before I had been to Sarvana Bhavan in Berlin, Germany and Thiruchendur in TN. Didn’t had a great experience there as well. There’s a very famous saying in Hindi- “Naam bade aur darshan chhote” which means “The name is big, but the appearance is small”. Normally it says that some names have a grand reputation or image, but in reality, fails to live up to expectations or turns out to be underwhelming. This saying perfectly describes Sarvana Bhavan.

So my husband took me out for lunch at Saravana Bhavan, and we ordered masala dosa and ghee roast masala dosa. The dosas were good, especially the ghee roast dosa, and the chutneys served were also very good and balanced in taste. So masala dosa was served a little burnt, and the manager noticed it late. So, the manager came to our table and took the remaining masala dosa and gave us a fresh masala dosa. It was a good gesture, but it kind of interrupted us in the middle of eating. Food was good and delicious, and service was good, but our seat was near the handwashing area, so it was a bit smelly, and also near our seat we found one cockroach, which was handled by the waiter. Overall pretty good food and economical on the pocket. Just the cockroach and foul smell left a bitter taste in our mouth. Will definitely visit again.
