**A Convenient Stay with a Okay Breakfast Experience** My partner and I stayed at Hotel Rum for three nights in September 2025 and were generally pleased with our visit, rating it 4 out of 5 stars. The hotel’s location is a major plus. It is very convenient, situated near a metro station and only a 10-to-15-minute walk from the main tourist attractions. The surrounding areas are pedestrian-friendly, making it a very pleasant area for exploring on foot. Our room was a good size with a comfortable bed, and the bathroom was spacious. The check-in and check-out processes were both smooth and hassle-free, which was much appreciated. However, the breakfast experience was a significant letdown. We had opted for the breakfast-included package, but quickly discovered that the rooftop restaurant offers a distinctly different, superior menu for a la carte customers. This differentiation left guests who had prepaid for breakfast feeling like a lower priority. The policy is disappointing and something the hotel should reconsider to provide a more welcoming and consistent experience for all guests. Overall, Hotel Rum is a solid choice—functional and boutique-ish, but lacking that special something that would make it a truly memorable stay. While it met all the basic needs, it didn't leave us with a strong desire to return. For our next visit to Budapest, we will likely try a different property.

We stayed here for three nights. The room was comfortable and spacious, the location was nice (not in the super touristy area). Lots of restaurants around. The staff were helpful with bookings and communicated well prior to arrival and during our stay. I was appreciative of the coffee machine which was replenished daily with coffee pods. The breakfast room view is fabulous and so is the breakfast. We ate at Salt one night and the price brought salty tears to my eyes. It was a lovely experience but in my opinion very overpriced. The room decor is starting to show signs of wear for example a chipped tile in the bathroom and a crack in the bathroom floor. There are also a few stair treads that need attention. These are all simple things to sort so hopefully the maintenance team will action them. This is the reason for my four stars not five (and perhaps a smile on arrival by the receptionist would have been nice). ||I would recommend this hotel.

Glass bathroom wall / sliding door not suitable for family with teenager. Room wasnt prepared for 3 on arrival. It was late so son slept in another room for first night. Housekeeping came into room early next morning without knocking, presumably to make up the third bed. Breakfast was ok, good views. We only went to breakfast twice. Server at breakfast welcomed us on last morning with an explanation we were late (9:30, breakfast runs until 10). He explained you had to be at breakfast the same time each morning, which is an odd arrangement. As it happened we had arranged 9:30 on first morning. Checkout was straightforward. Iron and ironing board delivered promptly when we asked for an iron. Room was clean.

I had a lovely stay here with my daughter and the location was perfect for exploring Budapest. The room was clean and a good size for a city centre hotel and it was quiet and peaceful. I have read a lot of reviews about the friendly staff but I didn’t find this to be the case. They were efficient and polite but no more and didn’t ask us if we had had a nice stay when we checked out and didn’t respond when we said goodbye as we left or acknowledged us when we arrived back each day. A small thing overall but not an attitude I am used to from staff at other hotels I have stayed at around the world.

Very clean and nice staff. Some of the rooms are very small, just be clear when you book. We were able to move rooms. Breakfast was okay, but the view spectacular and such a lovely way to start the day. I highly recommend

Nice hotel in a great location. Breakfast is tasty but limited to one coffee (just one!), one juice and a dish of your choice. Served in the rooftop SOLID restaurant, with an amazing view. If you need a more substantial breakfast then consider waiting until 10am when you can pay for the full brunch menu.

What a fantastic hotel - myself and my son (16) stayed here for 5 nights. We had a medium spiced room which was very clean and comfortable. The hotel arranged some balloons and chocolates at my request for the room, which was there when we arrived. We arrived early and were able to check in straight away. Staff on the front desk are fantastic especially the gentleman and the lady with blonde hair and glasses (apologies I do not know their names) bed was very comfortable and shower was great. Breakfast was served in the rooftop (solid restaurant) lovely views and food was lovely - al a carte menu and we tried a few of the options all were great along with our lattes and juice. Location was great, we walked nearly everywhere and had no problems at all. We did use the bolt taxi twice who were able to drop us outside the hotel. We were being picked up for the final day ay 19:00 and hotel were able to offer a later checkout however I wanted the room for longer so booked a smaller room for the night and were able to check out if one and straight to the other room. Would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Budapest|Thank you for such a lovely stay!!

We visited this place with my family in January. We arrived around 2.30PM and arranged all the paperwork by 2.45PM. Our baby was sick and wanted to get some sleep but the receptionist told us we could not enter the room until 3.00PM unless we paid for an early check-in service. I explained her the situation aobut my son and that it was almost 3PM but she was resisting. Therefore I had to pay 20 or 30 Euro to enter the room. Very bad experience already... The room was nice but pretty small—which we already knew of course. One of the windows was broken and therefore impossible to close, which they fixed after our second request. Breakfast was great. One time we had a dinner in the roofbar (where the breakfast are). We've arrived with our child and when requested for a child seat they told us there was none. Obviusly it was nonsene since we've used their child seat multiple times for each breakfast. I was talking Dutch to my wife so the waiters thought we were just tourist, but since I am Hungarian I heard them chatting how to find an excuse to provide a babyseat. They didn't want us to dine there since it was a high-end restaurant and they thought our child was going disrupt other guests. When I confronted them in Hungarian they were denying everything and suddenly they did find the babychair. At that time my mood was pretty bad with this hotel I asked for the manager who I confronted again with this chair 'drama'. He excused and told me that they prefer not to have kids because they don't want the kids to disturb other guest. My feedback, if you don't want kinds in the restaurant/hotel then allow only adults—like other hotels in Budapest. In general, the service was very disappointing.
