Hotel Lux

We just left!! Outstanding location ( we couldn’t have picked a better location). Just steps from miriamplatz (spelling). The staff was absolutely awesome. Very safe location. Rooms were great. ( we had to get two because we are a family of 4). Bar was great to come back to in the evening for a night cap. The stair case was beautiful. We HIGHLY recommend staying there. We are from the USA and took our 12 and 17 year old sons. They loved it. Great great experience. Their first experience in Europe and they loved it.

The hotel staff are excellent. From checking in on Christmas and meeting Katharina to our departure three days later —- all hotel staff were kind, caring, and helpful. We arrived at around 8:00 pm on Christmas and Katharina had put a bottle of wine and water in our rooms as a thoughtful gift. Morning staff were also very friendly— making custom coffee drinks included in a nice made to order breakfast. ||The BUT and average rating is because as others have mentioned this hotel has no elevator, no front desk, noise (a LOT on weekends), and, in some rooms, the smallest bathrooms humanly possible. ||The location, wonderful staff, and price make this a hotel option for some but not everyone.

Although this hotel is centrally located i have had to rate it 1star. On first site it is a beautiful building on top of a bar. Apparently family owned and run. Access to hotel is located to the side with independent access from street with also access from bar. A large rather grand spiral staircase leads you to the 4 floors of rooms. Rooms are tastefully setup with basic requirements. However this is where our expectations and experiences became apparent. it's located above a bar on a busy street and we are in one of the rooms over looking the street. The noise from people either coming or leaving the bar or even just passing is horrendous. I can only assume that the owners have never tried to sleep here themselves otherwise they might have considered sound proofing. I'm sitting typing this at 2am as I and my wife have been unable to get any sleep due to the constant screaming, talking and laughing outside. The music from the bar has finally stopped vibrating through the walls so that's a relief. However still have to deal with the cars and outside noise. So if you are looking for a good night's sleep I would avoid this place.

Our first time staying in Munich and we chose this hotel for the location and we are so glad we did. It worked out perfectly for our 2 night stay. We took the train from Munich airport to Marienplatz station and it was an easy 5 minute walk to hotel. We were very warmly greeted in the lovely bar area and easily checked in to our room 12. There is a beautiful spiral staircase that was easy to navigate. The room was spotless and very comfortable. And we did not hear any noise from either other hotel rooms or the bar below. We enjoyed drinks at the bar both nights of our stay and the bartenders were great and there was a nice diverse crowd. Breakfast is an additional cost so we opted to go to the nice little coffee shop right next door. Both nights we enjoyed dinner at the nearby augustiner am platzl ( be sure to make reservations). It was a great Munich stay!

Such a unique spot. Perfect location for city center. I loved my time here and will definitely stay again when i return to München☺️🇺🇸

Great location. Nice rooms. Was just in for the night and too exhausted to visit the bar, but it looked fabulous.

Hotel perfectly located in the heart of München. Rooms are clean and well isolated. The price is very correct for the quality and location of the hotel.

Great staff, very welcoming, and PERFECT location. Breakfast was wonderful and the room was a great value for this part of town. Can walk to practically everything! Had to climb some steps but no problem and would certainly stay here again!

The location to everything was the best. Hauling suitcases up 2 flights of stairs and down was grueling. There is no lobby, you check in at the bar below. No one with mobility issues can stay there. Very noisy at night due to street partiers.

We stayed here for 7 nights this past week and overall my opinion of the hotel was meh. Positives - it was a good location, close to most attractions. They had a nice selection of tea, and bottled water was refilled every day which was nice. The breakfast every day was pretty good. The restaurant bar is pretty cool to hang out at. Negatives- Beds were so hard and uncomfortable Tiny room LOUD- even being on the top floor it was soo loud outside! (They do give you ear plugs) I would recommend they put a hotel key fob from the bar to the hotel because we had a drunk girl sneak in the hotel and try to get into our room while we were sleeping. To the point my husband had to open the door and she tried to run under his arms into our room ‍‍

Hotel Lux was a great, modern retreat. Offering free wifi, soft comfy beds & directly in the middle of the Historic City Center, this is a fantastic base for your touristy travels No elevators so beware if traveling w/ heavy bags or people who have limited mobility. My parents cannot handle too many stairs so we called ahead of time & they were nice enough to make sure we were placed on the first floor (that's the 2nd floor to us Americans) Even though we were right above the bar, we couldn't hear a peep from below however the noise from the hallway was very loud - voices & door slams echoed throughout Parking is not free but there is a nearby garage that is happy to drain your wallet. Also, you'll want to beware of traffic! The hotel is on a 1-way street but cars are going all over the place & my Dad was almost hit by some guy trying to park Happy to discover there was no buffet-style breakfast but real off the menu made-to-order! We enjoyed eggs cooked a variety of ways & bircher muesli (there were other kinds of muesli as well) & let's not forget the espresso drinks. Lattes were pretty creamy but had to order an extra shot of espresso to get a better coffee to milk ratio but even so, still delish Would recommend Hotel Lux to anyone looking to make a centralized base in Munich

We stayed here for the first weekend of Oktoberfest. It was in a really nice area, assuming to be the heart of München. About a 5 minute walk to the train station. It was about €140 for a night, which is reasonable considering the festival. Staff was always great and let us keep our luggage there before check in. There's a crap ton of stairs so probably not best for disabled, since I don't think there's elevators. The reason for the 3 stars is because of the restaurant and the shower. The food was really crappy, even being half sober. No one in my group liked their food. Especially for the price. The shower was annoying. I know Germany tends to have small stand up showers but if I was even 3 inches bigger, I wouldn't have fit lol Really great location and nice hotel overall.

Great cocktails after a long day of having beer. So refreshing to have a refreshing cocktail after all the beers. Makes Munich even better! Very near the haufbraus?! Either way, get the Smokey margarita - reminds me of Cabo!

Review is for the bar only. What a sexy, quiet bar! Loved the dim lighting and decor. Drinks were great. It opens to the outside so we were able to sit inside but have the fresh air from the outside.

This is one of my favorite little places in the city CENTER to go for a cocktail. They have the real Moscow Mule in the copper cup with cucumber garnish. The food is also good. Best for drinks upfront.

München is known for its beer, but did you also know there is a thriving cocktail culture? My savvy girlfriend found the amazing Lux Bar (attached to the hotel of the same name) and we just had to stop in for a few drinks. The bar is intimate with cool, modern decor--a great place for a sexy date! They have some very skilled bartenders and creative cocktails. I definitely recommend trying some of their own inventions (unfortunately I don't have any specific recommendations because I can't find their menu online). Lux is conveniently located near Marienplatz, so it's easy to get to--and if you're downtown seeing the sights (or just getting off work) it's a great place to unwind after a long day.

Horrible service ! Lazy ass bartenders and Even worse waiters.... Too much work for little action.... However, brought The dice to 3 after getting my drinks

Great cocktail spot. Good service, extensive cocktail menu, great drinks. Local spot, but tourists are not unwelcome or uncomfortable. Interesting cocktails of all sorts. Lovely and lively.

Last night me and my GF went for a drink. We saw everyone seated and saw one free table for two. As it was busy and there was no one to greet us, we sat in that table. After we took off our jackets and got comfy, one of the bartenders came to our table with a smile in his face (I thought he would bring the menu or wanted to greet us), but instead he put over the table the sign "Reserved". He did not say anything else. We were in shock. We waited until he came again and asked what the hell was that, and the answer was "if you don't wait to be seated, no table" and then left. That was all. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE if you wish you night not to be spoiled by unfriendly and inneficient staff. Btw, it was our 5th year anniversary

Very nice, modern hotel with a cool restaurant and bar: Food is delicious, upscale but not too expensive, cocktails are great as well. It is always full but usually you get a table without reservation if you have a couple of minutes waiting time. Love the cheese platter :)

This is a GREAT place to grab a drink. It has such a great ambiance and a gorgeous interior. Perfect for a date night and even though it is a hotel in the city center, the drinks are the usual Munich price. These are top notch cocktails, too! They also have a really nice menu if you are hungry, but I typically come here for just for drinks. Another perk is they are open pretty much all the time since it is a hotel bar. The service is always great, too!

Nice jazzy atmosphere, but incredibly slow service on what seemed like not the most busy night. Certainly better options to be found in the vicinity.

Never again. I went there with my girlfriends we first waited 20 min for the waiter and he left rudely immediately without taking the order. He came back 10 min later talking very rudely again. We left.

Ditto the other reviews, great jazzy laid back vibe. A great place for a wine and some conversation. Did not eat the food, just drank and soaked up the atmosphere
