Hotel Indigo San Diego-Gaslamp Quarter, an IHG Hotel

This review is long overdue! Since 2024, this hotel has been my go-to choice whenever I need a place to stay in San Diego. The customer service here is consistently excellent, and the rooms are always clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. One of the biggest perks is that I can bring my dog with me, which makes traveling so much easier. What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is the exceptional service provided by Harmony at the front desk. From my very first stay, Harmony has gone above and beyond to make me feel welcome. She is attentive, professional, and always quick to address any needs or questions I have. Harmony’s warm and thoughtful approach is a big reason why staying here is the best. Thank you, Harmony, for making every visit such a pleasant experience!

Hotel property is clean and fresh. Nice area, easy to move around. Staff at lobby and Borrego are friendly and eager to help (kuddos to Maya and everyone at Borrego for a FANTASTIC job every night!). However, housekeeping...we had an issue with them EVERY DAY. As much as lobby staff wanted to help, housekeeping is just not up to par. Great place? Yes Nice area/location? Yes Friendly staff? Yes Housekeeping up to par? No

The location of this hotel is excellent! It is valet parking only, but that is understandable with where it is. The 9th floor bar is nice and has excellent views. My only concern is that the hotel offers 500 bonus points per day for “Greener Stay”, by not having housekeeping. I did this every day and did not receive any points for this. I asked multiple members of the front desk staff, and all stated that they weren’t trained on this and would pass along the request to their manager. A week later, and no points. If you’re going to offer a perk/reward, at least have your staff trained to do so and not be dependent on the manager. Overall, it was a great stay and I would definitely visit again.

Upon arriving to hotel. My room had no hot water or water pressure in the shower. Called down to desk to tell them what was going on. They said maintenance tech would be there early in a.m. That was night 1 with cold shower. Come next morning message had not been relayed to morning staff no maintenance personal shows up. I had to go down to front desk and pretty much demand problem be taken care of. The maintenance tech finally gets sent up to room with heat gun and says he's not sure why there is no hot water in shower but will try changing filter later once we left for the day. That was cold shower #2. Not sure at what time but he did fix problem. I was never notified even though I ask front desk to let me know status. We then get back to rest for night. “Finally with hot water” to find a bill slid under my door for 60 dollars of bottled water that was charged to my room. I then had to go back down to front desk and ask what is this. They just said oops that was suppose to be charged to different customer!!! Overall horrible experience worst customer service I’ve ever had at hotel, no rush to fix problems not even a discount or apology for cold showers steer clear of this establishment!!!!

We went to check into our hotel and their system was down so they could not che k us in or give us a room. The guy working the front desk was doing his best. He gave us drink coupons and told us to go to the food top bar and have a drink. We went up and they told us their system was down and they couldn’t serve us. I explained we had free drink coupons so he offered us a beer or glass of wine. After over an hour since our arrival we went downstairs to get our room and could not still check in at this point I’ve been up for at least 22 hrs. Finally they tell us they will give us a room but we won’t have a key we will need to come down in the morning for a key. The room was well bellow my expectations as a member with status but at this point I just need to sleep. We went down in the morning still unable to get a key so anytime we left we had to be escorted to our room. That’s assured privacy! We went down for our free breakfast still no mimosas because their systems are down. After breakfast the gal at the front desk said she could give us a key and she was horrified at the room they had given us an upgraded or room. I asked to speak to her manager JT Hovis. This is where it goes from bad to worse. I explained to him what had happened and how amazing his staff was with zero support from any of their management team. This is the pint he started throwing one excuse after another never taking any responsibility or accountability. He then offered us a credit for our stay I thanked him after calling him out on his very poor listening skills and customer service skills. The next day we went to check out and no credit was given. Thankfully JT Hovis was there and he again made an excuse saying he was so busy yesterday so again I had to wait for him to do the adjustment and credit my card. I love IHG hotels and rarely have issues but this one was horrible.

Very much enjoy this hotel stay. Well, there was some confusion at the desk regarding check-in and credit card deposits the rest of the day went smoothly. I found the neighborhood and Hotel Indigo to be dog friendly. I enjoyed the Acashi bowl for breakfast. The room was large and cozy. The room was clean. I’d come again and stay at any the locations.

This is an excellent hotel to choose if you’re coming to San Diego. We stayed 5 nights. The rooms are large and comfortable, with nice walk-in showers (with excellent water pressure). The staff are extremely friendly and helpful (shout out to Harmony and Michael at the front desk). Even if you don’t stay at the hotel, you should try the rooftop restaurant and bar Borrego. They have a nice menu and great drinks. Hopefully you’ll visit Borrego when Mia and/or Trevor are working. They made us feel like old friends every night we visited. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed the surrounding area and it was easy to use transportation to access other parts of the city. The hotel is modern and has two great restaurants. The patio bar is nice. The staff were terrific and friendly - shout out to Jenny and Harmony at front desk and Sergio in the restaurant. Super friendly and helpful.
