Hotel Hacienda Los Laureles Spa

We came here for our honeymoon, the staff were excellent and attentive. The taxi was a short taxi ride (roughly 100 pesos / £5 / $6). Which was really worth it for such a beautiful hotel and gardens, including the pool area. The hotel kindly upgraded us for our honeymoon and left us a bottle of bubbly and petals on the bed ready for our arrival. We also got a very relaxing massage each during our stay, which cost around £40 each. 5* would definitely recommend.

Lovely place to do mathematics for a week. The restaurant planned different meals each day so that we got a taste of Oaxaca. The hotel is about an hour walk to the city center, but the walk is pleasant and interesting.

The hotel is about 20 min outside the city Center. The rooms are clean but not very attractive. The breakfast in the garden restaurant was great. Staff is very nice. Personally, next time we are back in Oaxaca we will stay more centrally located.

My husband and I ended up staying here for close to two weeks! It was the perfect seclusion we wanted. Thai hotel is an oasis with amazing heartfelt service and attention. The room we stayed in was near the pool away from the main hotel and dining. We were so comfortable that we ordered room service (great food!!) and stayed in some days to fully relax and recharge. We will definitely stay here again! The owners are lovely people and even helped with my DHL shipment. The team go an extra mile to make guests feel at home here. We have nothing but positives to share about this hotel :)

Very nice property. Restaurant has good food and very tranquile atmosphere with the court yard garden. |Staff needs a bit more training. A bit awkward with staff dinning at restaurant and ignoring guests. Should have 24 hour front desk service. Not a 5 star could be a four if service issues are resolved. Rooms are comfortable but would consider them 3 star.|Bartender was vey nice and attentive.

I enjoyed five nights in this hotel. Except for an afternoon tour, I slept and dined in the hotel, and I enjoyed the calm oasis provided by this majestic renovated hacienda and its heritage buildings. I had a large room with a giant spa bath, spacious bedroom and great view to the mountains. Arriving in the room to a delightful "Bienvenido" spelled out with leaves from the garden set the stage for a welcoming stay. The bed and bed coverings were excellent and the TV was large and convenient. I liked working sometimes at the table in my room and sometimes in the rocking chair or just outside my room on the balcony. The garden below is a natural spectacle to behold. The staff at the hotel are all polite and caring and pleasant, and I appreciated each evening that the hotel staff would leave a plant in my room with a card telling me the next day's weather forecast.||||In the first night, I experienced four problems that diminish my score for the hacienda: (i) poor internet (but this was fixed the next day by a technical team although the internet remained poor and intermittent during my five-night stay; (ii) very noisy night due to church bells (which didn't happen any other nights), fireworks (which happened again just one other night) and barking dogs (which happened most nights); (iii) insufficient hot water leading to showers that quickly became cold and an unpleasant tepid-water bath experience leading me not to use the spa bath again and (iv) the hypersensitive temperature control for the shower so I would alternate between scalding and freezing temperatures, even without touching the tap. Frankly, the hotel staff should try out the rooms themselves so they can make sure such experiences don't happen in a five-star hotel. I also mention that the step up from the washroom to the room with the bath and toilet was a problem at night. I stubbed my toe once going up and had a surprising drop coming down another time, both on the first night. The step is a feature of the old building, I guess, but i think a small light would be good - hard to see the step at night but I sure remembered in following nights following this experience.||||The food was superb. The waiting staff were great, and my special dietary needs were met. The hotel is hygienic and no-one from our week-long workshop was sick in any way, which does not always hold in Mexico. I think the cleanliness of this hotel is laudable and trustable.||||The quiet location of the hotel is a mixed blessing. Nice to have the peace and quiet and I enjoyed walking around the area. On the other hand access to the downtown is not convenient. Getting money changed is a problem - the hotel staff need a day's notice to change money and an automatic teller machine is far away. There is a bar across from the hotel that looked welcoming but I didn't try it out. Didn't see any restaurants nearby.||||Although I have complained a lot above, I reiterate that the hotel was an excellent calm place and I really felt at home. The staff are so friendly that I miss them already. I would look forward to staying here again and hope my public comments incentivize positive change.

We had a wonderful time. The food, services, beautiful grounds and lovely rooms were perfect. The spa offers many services. I enjoyed a great facial and a super massage. The pool is warm and surrounded by the most lovely flowers with humming birds everywhere, I would highly recommended this hotel to anyone visiting the amazing historic city of Oaxaca. The taxi ride into the central city is approximately 10 miniues away and costs 60 pesos and the staff were so helpful in sorting out day trips into town. So reasonable. When my husband was feeling poorly due to a change in our normal diet, the staff cooked him special food and he was better in a day. Our stay was such a treat from beginning to end. Thanks!!
