Hotel de la Opera

This is a pleasant hotel in a good central location. It probably didn’t live up to the high expectations promised by the website but I’d still stay again and would recommend it.||Communication in the days leading up to the stay, regarding an airport transfer was a nightmare, with emails not being responded to and I had to make regular phone calls to check things were in order. Fortunately service once I arrived was much better. The hotel is on a quiet pedestrianised street, just a few steps away from the main square and it remained a peaceful retreat throughout my stay.||The old style building is a bit of a maze to navigate at first but it certainly oozes history with a number of magnificent spaces. My room was on the 7th floor and overlooked the roof tops leading to the main square. This was a brilliant view and incredible at sunset. The room was spacious and comfortable, although I never could get the air-conditioning to work. Electric sockets were beside the bed, there was no noise during the night and the large bed was comfortable. ||The bathroom was equally as spacious but wasn’t quite at the same level as the rest of the room - the bath was certainly getting old, with the shower being overhead, there was only one towel, and despite there being lots of amenities provided the slippers were awful quality.||The breakfast buffet was a basic affair and there didn’t seem to be any option for hot cooked dishes when I visited. But there were local items and the juices were nice. The area serves as the evening restaurant which had good service and a high-end range of items on the menu. The prawns and pineapple was a large portion, uniquely presented, and it had a lovely vibe. There’s also a bar area but it was shut on the Saturday evening which was a shame.||Overall it was a peaceful and relaxing hotel in a prime location, which also offered good value. It didn’t feel quite up to the five-star standard claimed but if set your expectations accordingly I’d recommend.

It was horrible. Even 3 star hotels can't afford this. Very dirty. The rooms haven't been updated for decades. Look at my photos. The water in the shower is barely warm. No soundproofing. The breakfasts are terrible and the service at these breakfasts is like at a 1 star hotel.

Beautiful old villa in the heart of Calanderia. Our room had a lovely balcony looking out over the theatre and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Service was accommodating, with no problem checking in off our flight at 04:30. They even gave us a packed breakfast to take to the airport. Great value and location for the main tourist sights.

We found this jewel on a previous trip and upon returning we decided to stay. The hotel has a great feel and has a privileged location a couple of blocks from Old Bogota Center Square. Built using two houses from the colonial and republican era this hosted is full of charm. We stayed at the Eco wing, the other is the colonial wing and the view from our window was superb. The room was spacious, although a little short on closet space but that no issue. As for the staff, very friendly and always available without being intrusive. The current concierge is charming and always available to answer questions and provide information.One big detail that surprised us was when we asked Edwin where can we find an exchange place. He not only gave us the location but offered to have a staff member to escort us. When was the last time that happened to you? |The hotel has a very nice and breakfast is included. |The location of the hotel is privileged to explore the city and its charms. Recommendation always verify the times because not always what you find posted is what they abide with. Security is tight around the hotel due to the fact that the Chancillery is across the walkway, which is a huge plus.

It was great to stay in the hotel. Staff was very kind and helpful. My check-in was afternoon but they let me leave my bag at 6am so I didn't carry it on with me while walking on Bogota.

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience for our wedding reception and stay than at Hotel de la Opera in Bogotá. The team at the hotel worked closely with us to ensure every detail was perfect, from the elegant ballroom décor to the exquisite catering. Our guests were blown away by the quality of the food and the seamless execution of the event. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable and taken care of, and we felt like we were truly treated as royalty. As for our stay, the rooms were beautiful, spacious, and incredibly comfortable, with a great view of the surrounding historic neighborhood. The bed was perfect for unwinding after a long day of celebrations, and the breakfast each morning was a wonderful start to the day. The location of Hotel de la Opera couldn’t be better—right in the heart of Bogotá’s charming La Candelaria district, with easy access to cultural sites and local attractions. We took a few moments to explore and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of the area. Overall, our wedding and stay at Hotel de la Opera exceeded every expectation. It was the ideal choice for our big day, and we’re incredibly grateful for the exceptional service and unforgettable experience. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a beautiful venue and a memorable stay in Bogotá. Thank you to the entire team for making our wedding day so special!

Very well placed hotel close to all major museums, cathedral. The rooms are clean, zero sound isolation, nothing for light sleepers. Staff is kind and helpfull. Information about events, parameter, all around is scarce. On the bill some strange numbers appear, i spent 2 hours to clear the chaos. If someone of the staff said, she'll be there at an event, she won't. If another one promises to take a debatable item from the bill, he won't. The discount voucher won't be deducted, unless You ask for it. The airport transfer is 37 times the bus fare, but nice and speditiv. The new years party takes the non spanish speakers or the non party going guests into zero consideration, the live band = an overly loud dj, the midnight cheer with champagne happens around 0:06. Literally all the non local guests fled from the "party". Nobody warnes when you prebook the table, that on the 1st of jan. the menu is about 95% reduced. Very rigorous about the paymenty but very unsatisfactory about solving situations. Tip is expected, but treating the guests fairly in questionable situatuon is non existent; zero compromise. Quite weird in a 5star hotel. Breakfast buffet is nice, great omlettes. Good spa with nice massages, small sauna, tiny pool. To talk with a manager is impossible, they simply deny it, even is promised a day before. Alltogether very mixed experience. Shame, as it could be a phantastic hotel.

Very well located hotel - art deco rooms are very spacious and mine had a lovely view over La Candelaria (Room 701). Spa area is relaxing and the treatments are good. ||Breakfast was average, the bar wasn’t open while I was there and the restaurant offer is limited (although there’s a lot of choice in the area).
