I chose this hotel looking for a colonial feel in the Candelaria area. While there are some nice colonial style sights in the hotel, it struck me for the low lighting, the old (not ancient) furniture and a general sad feeling exuded by the staff. That said, room size was ok, bed suitably comfy, and decent breakfast offering. |And the pool with spa and sauna is quite nice although not stellar. |The hotel position is great, steps away from Plaza Bolivar. |If the hotel classification had been three stars then I’d rate it much higher. But a five star ? Not close.

Hotel de la Opera presents itself as a 5-star hotel. I think it once was, but it is not quite there anymore, perhaps 4 stars would be more appropriate. The staff’s intentions were overall positive, and after I reported an issue, they eventually remediated it generously, which I appreciated. However, at times I wished they spoke more English. Some refresher training for the staff, and a bit more English language training, would not go amiss. If the staff don’t speak English, it would help if they simply said so, so we can adjust our expectations. The same applies to other issues that may occur during a stay: sometimes clear and direct communication costs less than having upset customers.

Hardly five star. Three at most. Untrained staff, lukewarm water, defensive when criticised, not as clean as it might be. Not exuberantly welcoming. Perhaps the best that this attractive central district of Bogota can offer, but go with low expectations or you’ll be disappointed.

Lovely stay in a large room at this grand historic hotel in La Candelaria. The location was excellent and it felt very safe. We enjoyed breakfast a lot but were disappointed to miss out on the pool and spa as we were incorrectly informed about the closure times (even more so that we received no response when we mentioned this in feedback). Still, a Bogota highlight to stay here with many excellent places of interest and restaurants nearby.

Historic hotel with lots of charm and excellent service. It's centrally located in historic downtown with several museums and presidential residences within walking distance. The staff are always friendly and courteous willing to please. The concertgie - Alvaro is very helpful and follows up to ensure you are enjoying your stay. Santiago at the front desk made our check in smooth and efficient. Most businesses in the area open around 7AM - 8AM and close by 7PM, since there isn't much to do after 7PM in the area it would be an improvement for hotel bar to stay open until 10PM. I would stay here again and recommend hotel for future travel.

Great location. Bad hotel: rooms are NOT as on the picture's. Not clean. Breakfast not the best. It claims to be a 5 star, max a 3 star! Also, laundry service; gave it 3 days before the actual needed event, didn't come till after the first day of the event. Blaming everyone but themselves. Never again this hotel for us

Hotel de la Opera is a beautiful hotel with tons of amenities. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a view of historic Bogota. Centrally located in La Candelaria, and very close to many great attractions. The staff were kind and helpful...and the breakfast was amazing. Visit Bogota, the city has so much art and culture to explore! And stay at Hotel de la Opera.

Location is AMAZING. Staff are all super friendly. Room had a very strong perfume smell so had to leave windows open for the first day to air them out.
