Hotel de la Opera

This hotel is magnificent right in the heart of Candeleria and surrounded by museums, art galleries and amazing restaurants and Cafes. We were well looked after and felt very safe. The Colombian people are friendly and kind always willing to help. If you haven’t been to this city then visit you will love the vibrant atmosphere!! We enjoyed 4 nights here very recently. There's a lot to like about the hotel but I think 5 stars is stretching it in terms of facilities but not quality. Location is brilliant in Candelaria BUT your transport cannot bring you to the door so you have to lug your bags the last 80m. Breakfast is good BUT don't come late. Things get a bit skinny. Our room was a standard on the seventh floor with plenty of space, a comfortable bed and a great outlook BUT the aircon didn't work (luckily windows opened) and the shower was very ordinary. So why 5 stars? The good outweighed the bad very significantly and the staff were as lovely and helpful as you could possibly ask for, even with our terrible Spanish and their variable English. Where there's a will, there's a way. The place has nice character. Would definitely return.

The location can’t be beat on a pedestrian street a block away from Plaza Bolivar. The breakfast was sensational, with an omelette bar, delicious Colombian fruit, pastries, and cereal. Also, there are a lot of lounges and areas to sit, including the pool, if you have time to enjoy them.The only thing was that I’d booked on the seventh floor for the view, but the windows were entirely covered on the outside in plastic, so there was no view. Also, the room was hot, and I was unable to adjust the thermostat, and since I was only staying one night, it wasn’t worth the time to ask the hotel staff to fix it. (assuming it could have been fixed).. I would definitely stay here again, but would address the room temperature and plastic window situation beforehand.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel de la Casa. The colonial architecture gave the place so much character and charm, making it feel like a step back in time with all the modern comforts. The breakfast was absolutely terrific—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The jacuzzi added a relaxing touch after a long day, and the staff went above and beyond with their friendly and attentive service. The Wi-Fi connection was fast and reliable, which made planning my days and staying connected super easy. If I had to point out one small issue, it would be that the water wasn’t quite as hot as I like it, but that’s a minor detail in an otherwise perfect experience. I would definitely recommend Hotel de la Casa to anyone visiting Bogotá !

I chose this hotel looking for a colonial feel in the Candelaria area. While there are some nice colonial style sights in the hotel, it struck me for the low lighting, the old (not ancient) furniture and a general sad feeling exuded by the staff. That said, room size was ok, bed suitably comfy, and decent breakfast offering. |And the pool with spa and sauna is quite nice although not stellar. |The hotel position is great, steps away from Plaza Bolivar. |If the hotel classification had been three stars then I’d rate it much higher. But a five star ? Not close.

Lovely stay in a large room at this grand historic hotel in La Candelaria. The location was excellent and it felt very safe. We enjoyed breakfast a lot but were disappointed to miss out on the pool and spa as we were incorrectly informed about the closure times (even more so that we received no response when we mentioned this in feedback). Still, a Bogota highlight to stay here with many excellent places of interest and restaurants nearby.

Hotel de la Opera presents itself as a 5-star hotel. I think it once was, but it is not quite there anymore, perhaps 4 stars would be more appropriate. The staff’s intentions were overall positive, and after I reported an issue, they eventually remediated it generously, which I appreciated. However, at times I wished they spoke more English. Some refresher training for the staff, and a bit more English language training, would not go amiss. If the staff don’t speak English, it would help if they simply said so, so we can adjust our expectations. The same applies to other issues that may occur during a stay: sometimes clear and direct communication costs less than having upset customers.

This is one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in a hotel. There are only three things I expect in a hotel, a bed, a toilet and hot running water. I arrived last night from Los Angeles and it was about midnight here in Bogota and there was no hot water this morning. The manager Edwin assured me the hot water would be running. I went out and they tored the city. At 5 o’clock when I returned, he assured me there was hot running water. I returned to the front desk and he told me that they just fixed it and it would take an hour for the water to heat up at 6 o’clock. I went back down to the front desk and I checked out of the hotel. It was very clear that there was never gonna be hot water
