Hotel de la Opera presents itself as a 5-star hotel. I think it once was, but it is not quite there anymore, perhaps 4 stars would be more appropriate.
The staff’s intentions were overall positive, and after I reported an issue, they eventually remediated it generously, which I appreciated. However, at times I wished they spoke more English. Some refresher training for the staff, and a bit more English language training, would not go amiss.
If the staff don’t speak English, it would help if they simply said so, so we can adjust our expectations. The same applies to other issues that may occur during a stay: sometimes clear and direct communication costs less than having upset customers.
