Hops Downtown Grill

We stopped in here during our visit to Glacier National Park(GNP) after a long day of hiking. We had no issues finding plenty of off street parking. The restaurant has a bar traven atmosphere. They were busy but we got seated very quickly. We had the Meatloaf and Chicken Fried Steak both meals were very delicious and full of flavor.  We also had several of their draft beers which were refreshing. They are very generous with their portions. The staff were nice and friendly. Overall we had a great dinning experience and will stop by on our next visit.

Amazing food! Their side vegetables are really good, not the usual steamed broccoli and cauliflower. Food came out quickly and was delicious! Service was outstanding! It's a small venue but still very nice and cozy. My only complaint is the bathroom. It needs a deep cleaning. Definitely not a deal breaker though. I will continue to dine here!

Came here for dinner after a loooooong hike. There was about 15-20 min wait time for our party of 2 but the host was very nice ! Super friendly and made the experience awesome. I got the garlic chicken with pilaf, it's definitely very slightly on the pricier side for the food but the rice was cooked great, the chicken was garlicky as expected and overall I liked the meal ! Adding an extra star because of the host :) !

Highly recommend this place. The food was really, really, really, really good. Nice atmosphere, great service. Dana was our server.And was extra helpful in everything she did. This was some of the best food we had in montana.

Very good food and service! We really enjoyed our dinner here. It's been one of the best meals we've had in Kalispell.

When the wife and I can get out for a date night we often come here. Not a great place to bring the kids but pretty perfect for a couples night out.. Ambience is nice, it’s kind of cramped, especially when busy but not too bad really. The staff is great, attentive and polite, even funny at times. The food is really good, I can highly recommend the burgers and fried chicken. My wife was disappointed that they didn’t have wine but overall I can definitely recommend the this place.

We had a great dinner!! We quickly learned that Michelle’s recommendations are the best. The Elk Bolognese Lasagna was delicious and very satisfying. The Griddled Meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes was comfort food plus. The bacon tomato jam on the meatloaf made it absolutely addictive. The restaurant is small and feels very friendly.

Conveniently located downtown, Hops is a good choice especially on weekends when options are limited. Inside is a bit small but the staff assisted us in seating a party of 7. I had the elk lasagna and it was quite good. The apricot cider on tap was excellent and the kids enjoyed their Huckleberry sodas. My wife liked her tomato basil soup and pretzel. Others in our party ordered the garlic chicken and they enjoyed it. Staff was very polite and professional. They also have a veteran discount if you qualify. Highly recommended.

This is my second time at to Hops Downtown Grill and it was a nice experience as the first time. I had the Grilled Chicken entree and the sauce with the rice & vegetables were absolutely delicious. It was a good portion size so if you are hungry you should find it satisfying. Now some fun trivia: Hops has a bear head above the bar area and I had a long and wonderful conversation with the waitress who said she has been working there for 20 years and the bear head has been there since she started working at Hops. It was such a funny conversation she previously asked the owner/manager and they told her that when they bought the place 30 years ago it was just a bar and not a restaurant and at that time the bear head was already there and the previous owner of the place did not know the history of the bear head either! Likely that thing has been there for 40 or more years!

We do a lot of research before our trips so when we saw we could get a trio of bison, elk, and yak sliders we knew we'd be giving this spot a try. We frequently eat the first two but had never had yak. All three were delicious and were served with some really unique, tasty fries...crispy on the outside & super potato-y on the inside. A decent beer selection and good wines as well so I went with a German riesling this stop. Service was good and we were happy we got there right at 5 when they opened because the place filled up quickly. Since we knew we were eating light by sharing a single plate we went straight to the bar so we didn't lock up a table. A small restaurant-clean, friendly, and everything coming out of the kitchen looked delicious.

Ordered food to go. Staff were friendly and personable. The burgers were delicious and what we needed after a long travel weekend. Cute inside, I want to come back and dine in.

Yelp said that they had some good pork chops. I called in the order. 20 minutes later, it was done. Hops seemed like a nice trendy restaurant in Kalispell that we could've eaten at. But, since the pandemic, most of our meals are takeout. Service was good on the phone and when I arrived. Yelp was right. The pork chops were good. The pork chop came with mashed potato and brocollini. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and was tasty. Vegetables were good too. Hops was a good place for us to get takeout during our roadtrip.

Many options popped up, but Yelp pointed me in the right direction again! No reservation but we were promptly seated and made a selection from the local draft list. Opted for the Chicken Fried Steak which came with broccolini and garlic mashed potatoes...all were fab! Ambiance is moody bistro, service was prompt and friendly, and prices were in line with expectation...

Went here on Saturday and there was a large amount of people here due to the fact that Spartan Race was in town. As I have Celiac disease, I looked for restaurants on Google that had gluten free options. A few reviews mentioned gluten free options but they DO NOT have a marked menu or a separate fryer. This is a very small restaurant in a historic building downtown. This is not the place to bring a large group. It's also quite dark and cramped in here, so be warned if you have mobility issues. We gave a name and phone number as there was a 30 minute wait for a table for two. We received a text message and ordered. My husband started with the $14.95 huckleberry duck wings without the gorgonzola cheese dressing. He was asked if he'd like ranch, which he said yes, but it never showed up. He ordered the grilled meatloaf for $20.95 and I ordered the $19.95 Hops Huckleberry Burger without crispy shallots and no bun because there is a $2.50 upcharge for a gluten free bun. I also ordered mashed potatoes instead of fries because they use a shared fryer and their twister fries have a gluten coating on them regardless. It took more than 40 minutes from the time my husband got his appetizer to the time we got our meals. It was clear that staff was extremely overwhelmed by the amount of people they had to serve. My burger came with a gluten free bun and the waitress said I wouldn't be charged for it because the kitchen just added it when I ordered my food gluten free. That's fine, I ordered it sans bun simply because I didn't want to pay an upcharge. I enjoyed my modified burger and my husband liked his meatloaf. I did notice a lot of tables weren't eating their twister fries. I asked the couple next to us (like literally 3 inches from us) if they liked the fries because I noticed lots of tables weren't eating them. We were told that they were just okay. Another table mere inches from us got the 3 burger sampler. The guy complained that they were good but too small to actually get enough bites to compare the flavours of the different meats. He was eating off his girlfriend's pork chop because he scarfed the burgers in a few minutes and left his fries. Skip the fries and skip the 3 burger sampler if you're hungry. They do offer a 15% off discount with military ID. Visited May 2023

Our first meal in Montana!! The burgers looked stellar and we were stoked to come after a long and exciting day of visiting Going to the Sun Road and hiking multiple hikes. My partner got the pub burger and I got the hunter's trio as I really wanted try yak, elk and bison. When the burgers came, they rapidly vanished as the cheese, meats and goodness all came together in such a nice combination... I do wish it was more common in California to have yak and elk..

I have no idea why we have never been here before. This place is fantastic! The dining room is cozy and quaint, very intimate feeling. The food was phenomenal. We started with the ahi tuna appetizer. The tempura vegetables on the side were delicious. Next, I had the quinoa and lentil burger. I am absolutely in LOVE with this burger. I don't eat meat, so having this on the menu made me very happy. What I loved about the burger is that it wasn't all sopping wet and falling apart. It's more crumbly and dryer than ones people make with black beans, so this will go down as my all time favorite veggie burger!!! My other half got the salmon and said it was very good and unique. Bottles of wine were reasonably priced and there was a nice selection of choices. Service was outstanding - our server gave great feedback as I asked questions about the different options I was considering different meals. Sometimes when I ask about an item on a menu, the person gives such nondescript information it doesn't help me. This was not the case at Hop's - she knew the menu and had clearly eaten many of the items so she could speak to the textures, flavors and how filling things are. She was a gem! Will we be back - probably sooner than I'd like to admit.

Had such an amazing meal there yesterday. Owners were very kind and socialized with us. Really enjoyed my quinoa and lentil burger and the fries. The sriracha and aoli on the burger was so good and I loved that they used Ceres Bakery buns (it's another local favorite). Great options, great environment. Highly recommend!!

Nice dining room, very pleasant waitress, food only OK (sent back pastas because none of our party likes the taste at all - replaced with burgers which were unremarkable) - at least fixing it wasn't a hassle. Dessert was excellent, full marks there. Lots of beer on the list, as you'd expect. I'd try it again given the other glowing reviews - probably another dish I'd be likely to appreciate, like the bison steak tips - but I'd be lying if I didn't say I was disappointed.

It had been quite awhile since we last ate here, so we decided to check it out for date night. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but has a cool vibe. We started with the poutine which was very good. They have a unique take on fries with a thick spiral shape. It was a good start to the meal. We both got burgers and they were very good, with fresh ingredients and cooked how we requested them. I got the burn burger which wasn't very hot, but was good. My wife got the Yak burger and really liked it. I would check this place out on another date night. Good food and vibe.

Great French Dip and good service. Caesar salad good with cold plate. Good wine selection really enjoyed the dinner.

I'm so disappointed. Years ago, Hops had delicious, high quality food - with a chef who took pride in plating. Now? Not so much. I ordered a Pub Burger and it was fine. Not delicious, not flavorful, and certainly not plated in a way that appealed to my other senses. Those in my company also were disappointed as we remember what this place USED to be. Alas. The bright side: our server was EXCELLENT. She was friendly, attentive, and quick to anticipate our needs.

Great little restaurant across from our hotel, and was actually recommended by the desk clerk at the hotel. Service was good... food was good. My BF and I decided to split the meatloaf... it was a huge portion... the kitchen even split the plate. The creamy tomato soup was outstanding , while the salad was standard. This place is busy! It's fairly small and by 6:30 there is a line. For good comfort food in the downtown area... this is the place!

OMG!!!!!! Back from the trip and I totally forgot the waiters name! She has blonde long hair that was tied up and SUPER SUPER AWESOME! Have to say the moment I walked in the two young girls are extremely nice! WAY TO GO HOPS! The front of the house to the entire dining in was THE BEST I EVER HAD. Everyone is so awesome! Came here with a group after hiking. It was quite busy but we wanted to try it. It also smelled so good when I walked in. We all mainly ordered burgers but one of us got the chicken fried steak. Everything was DELICIOUS. They also had huckleberry beer and that was good too! Must get! Thank you so much!!!

Michelle was an amazing server...very kind and helpful...she had the biggest smile and she made me feel very at home

It was quite nice. We were walk ins -- I was surprised to see the place packed at 5pm on a Monday. Overall, good food and good service. The duck lugs were amazing, although my trout was a little over cooked and dry. The ambience and service made up for the food.

I was disappointed to see that there were few Covid practices in place. Tables were definitely not appropriately social distanced, menus were reused and not wiped down between customers, etc. The staff was wearing masks/face shields, which is better than other places I've been, but that's about it. Stopped by here on a Friday night, and the place was packed. I joined several other parties outside to wait for a table, and eventually a waitress came out to ask if anyone wanted drinks while they waited. I was about to order one when my table was ready. I ordered the chicken fried steak, which was okay but not what I expected. Normally with chicken fried steak, I expect a chunky, meaty gravy but the gravy over this was thin and more like what you'd serve with mashed potatoes....which they did. The food was filling and well-seasoned though, so I don't have any major complaints (but I was also super hungry, so my standards were probably also lower).

This is a nice little place inside and out, just keep your eyes peeled when trying to find it. The staff was polite and friendly. I had fish N chips which was delicious, my wife got chicken fried steak which we neither one cared for ( it was pretty chewy and not completely cooked through). The staff deserves 5 stars

Huge fan of this spot! Went here for a few glasses of wine and some apps, ending with two bottles and staying for two hours! Absolutely great spot. The duck wings are incredible and so are the burgers. We can't wait to go back and try more. Thanks to Tim and Jordan for a great time!

We were passing through town and found this place online and it was amazing! Restaurant was medium sized and atmosphere was great. Had a unique selection on items on the menu. The duck wings specifically were AMAZING! Server was knowledgable about menu and service was good. Couldn't recommend this place enough!

Hops was recommended by our Airbnb owner and we decided to check it out. Nice little place in downtown Kalispell! We had a party of 4 and had to wait about 25 minutes, but it was well worth the wait. We had been hiking all day and we were starving. Order appetizers (the poutine was fabulous) and dinner. Yak burger was sweet and with the heat they put on it made it delicious. The others ordered burgers and ate every bite. I ordered the elk lasagna at the recommendation of the server and can honestly say it was perfect. Perfect amount of cheese and sauce with no gamey taste. We would highly recommend you stopping in if you're in the area!

Food was totally under seasoned to the point even the lasagna Bolognese has zero flavor. The meatloaf was equally bland.

The food was COLD! I watched my food sit for at least 5-7 minutes before it was delivered. I told the waitress and she offered to make it again. I don't have time for that. My son's cheese burger....missing the cheese! Not going back any time soon!!

Fantastic service and the food was outstanding. We had a couple burgers and the trout and everything was excellent. This place is a hidden gem.

Meatloaf is amazing! It's a super busy place, though. Get on the list then go for a nice walk.

OMG the food here is so good! My friends shared the chicken and waffles and said it was the best they had ever had! The fried pickles - probably in the top 3 best ones I have ever eaten. My friend had the ginger pork lettuce wraps and she reported that they were amazing. My other friend had a chicken sandwich which she said was very good. I had the sesame ginger salad which was delicious and spicy! The menu did not say it would be spicy (which i love spicy food, so not a problem for me) so if you don't like the heat, don't get this salad. We all shared a peanut butter s'more even though we were stuffed because it sounded amazing. Yes I am happy to report that it was amazing and well worth the uncomfortable feeling of being too full.

The chef at Hops really knows how to cook. Everything we had was above average. The atmosphere was inviting with excellent staff. Try the huckleberry beer too. I highly recommend trying this place.

Wife and I popped in for dinner recently and very glad we did. Service was friendly and pro as was the atmosphere. Limited draft beer options but what they had was well selected and tasty. Then comes the highlight ... the food !! I got the smokehouse burger with poutine fries and wife got the elk lasagna. Both were home runs :) We are looking forward to our next visit! Gotta try the the chicken fried steak. Highly recommended

The elk lasagna is absolutely amazing!!!! The grilled chicken is great too. I've been several times with friends, and we've never been disappointed.

Some of the most delicious food I've tasted. Salmon...A++, Fish & Chips...A+ (Fries are divine) . Wow! The staff is friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend.

I am so glad we tried this place. Service is exceptional! We were here to try a variety of food with wine. Our server really knew her wine which doesn't happen very often. Social distancing and mask were in place. I loved the Yak burger! We also enjoyed the Bison and Elk burger from the Hunters Trio. Wasn't a big fan of the Elk sausage. Maybe if it was served differently . We both enjoy our duck wings. We requested some Huckleberry sauce which we both thought they should serve it with as it really enhanced the flavor the the wings .

Food is always delicious service is great and the environment is pleasing. Bison Burger is delicious as are the Fish Tacos

We were looking for a well rated place while on vacation and came across this. Excited to try some things that we cannot get back home we ordered and elk burger and a bison steak. Both orders were really nothing to get excited about. We had a side of Poutine which was pretty solid but overall I didn't find that the food lived up to the reviews that were posted. One other part that concerned me but is not reflected in my review. If you are concerned about COVID this place is very small and cramped together. I felt it was way to close for comfort. I will give credit to the staff as I understand it they just started wearing masks.

Doesn't look like much but you are in for a treat. I don't seldom go to the same restaurant twice in one trip. I went twice the food was so good. The first time I had salmon and the second time meatloaf. I generally don't order meatloaf out but decided to try it. It was even better than my meatloaf.

This place is amazing. My family and I stumbled upon this gem while walking the streets of Kalispell looking for a place to grab dinner. The staff was nothing short of amazing(they are all busting their asses) and the food was phenomenal. The chef definitely knows what they're doing. The icing on the cake is that we did a flight of all of the beers and 7 of the 8 we would have had full pints of had we planned to get smackers. Can't recommend this place enough. It was so good we came back the next night before leaving Kalispell. First night, we had the calamari appetizer and sidewinder fries. For entrees we had smoked trout and elk bolognese, Cesar salad with anchovies(love that it's available as an option) and a soup of the day which was a cream of mushroom type soup. Second night, we had the soup of the day again, a parmesan poblano, fried chicken and the salmon and beet salad. EVERYTHING was amazing.

This place is bomb.com!! I grew up in rural Illinois. If you're from anywhere small-town-America... there's that one "nice restaurant" everyone went to for homecoming or prom... In downtown Kalispell. This place ROCKS. Excellent food!

A local favorite amongst locals and visitors. They do not take reservations and we came early at 5:30pm. Doors open at 5pm and guess what - it was packed and we waited a few minutes for a table to open up. I can see why this is a favorite... The best food in town, gourmet touches with an innovative menu. As you walk in the restaurant, you are in the dining area and the bar is parallel to the dining area. packed! We only waited 2 minutes to get a great table next to the window and wall, a little privacy. Lots of energy and all tables were close together thou you did not feel invaded. It's intimate. We ordered lots of food that were seafood based. Crabs, salmon, trout and salads. Everything we ate was fit for a king, the details, the pres station, the flavors, wow! We sat next to a women whose a flight attendant dining by herself and comes here to dine often when she's in the area. We had no room for dessert, thou went home with filled stomached and big grins in our face. This place is a gem. We heard about it from a pharma rep. You cannot go wrong with any item on this menu. Our cabin was located in the middle of the woods and would lptake us about 30-40 minute drive to civilization and during our vacation here we got to attend the Kallispell fair which was fun and a reflection of the culture. We loved it! Yes. I would return to this restaurant and can see myself eating here almost every night. P.s. Everything is fresh and local Made with organic love.

Second time here. Amazing poutine is a must try. Burgers are super juicy. Give them a shot when your in Kalispell

Simply outstanding! They have reinvented staple meals and upgraded not so common items! The juiciest garlic chicken, to the lightest fried chicken, to the hunters trio consisting of a bison, an elk and a yak slider ( I enjoy trying new things) this place did not disappoint! With a large side of mashed with gravy or the fries, our group simultaneously said mmmmm to every bite! Amy was our server and she was fantastic! We also shared an appetizer of elk brats with a homemade Bavarian pretzel and then salads with homemade dressing, all of it delicious. If you come to Kalispell, this is the restaurant! And as a kicker, the specialize in locally grown ingredients! Honestly, don't miss it!

Very crowded spot for dinner with limited sitting. Make sure you arrive early to guarantee a spot for yourself. Good quick dinner type of place in the downtown

Well, where to start. We were in town for my boyfriend's birthday, and decided to check out Hops. We walked in at about 8:15pm and the smell was amazing. We were told there was a wait but we could wait at the bar and have a drink so that's exactly what we did. 30 minutes later I asked about our table, as I had seen other people seated who had come in after us. The girl who had told us to wait at the bar said "I'm so sorry, I forgot". Fast forward 5 minutes and the manager comes up to us to explain that there is a 30 minute waitlist but we could order and eat at the bar. I explained that we had already waited 30 minutes and the manager basically said "well that's too bad". So, being that it was now 8:45 at least, we ordered - a bison burger and elk bolognese. While waiting the 30 minutes for our food, I noticed three empty tables. But that's neither here nor there at this point. Our food came - the elk bolognese was delicious. The bison burger was well done when my boyfriend requested medium rare. The one good in all of this was our waitress at the bar. Our bill says her name is Sabina. She was very accommodating and apologetic and her service was great. The manager and others, however, make me say don't bother coming here.

We come here every year when in town. My kids get the chicken fried steak which they talk about the rest of the year until we come back. I ordered the trout this time which was excellent. Amy is amazing, always attentive and friendly. This is simply good food served in a warm atmosphere where you can feel comfortable.

Went in thinking it was a basic brewpub. Sometimes it's nice to be wrong. Much more upscale than I expected. I have the trout coked in a parchment bag with broccoli & rice pilaf. The trout was excellent. Cooked perfectly it was very tasty. The rice pilaf was also cooked correctly, rice was neither dry nor soggy. My wife had the Prime rib. Her rime rib was cooked medium as she asked. The garlic mashed potatoes were also good. Definitely would recommend dinner here.
