Nestled in the Junction, Honest Weight is a charming fishmonger-restaurant hybrid serving up inventive, fresh seafood dishes in a cozy setting.
"Located in the Junction, Honest Weight feels a bit like a quintessential New England seafood joint. Helmed by four of the city's noted seafood chefs, the restaurant takes its fish seriously, and Torontonians will cross the city just to get their fix. There's always something a little unexpected and rare to try, like house-steamed cockles or Azorean limpet clams. Grilled squid served atop romesco is a favorite, as is the fish sandwich. The drink menu offers homemade sodas—including blood orange, which goes great with briny fish—and a limited, straightforward wine list consisting of a red, a white, a sparkling, and a couple of craft beers. Diehard seafood enthusiasts should have lunch or dinner at Honest Weight. The food here is as satisfying as it gets." - Todd Plummer
"Honest Weight is an alternative and humble fish shop and sit down restaurant. Owner and fishmonger John Bil has created a casual and comfortable setting with a tastefully fishy menu that will leave one hooked. You won't find your usual fish and chips as the menu is constantly changing to compliment the fresh seafood shipments. Menu staples include a delicious fish sandwich and savoury okonomiyaki, which is a Japanese style fish pancake." - Simone Ferkul

"There are plenty of great places in Toronto to go for the seafood classics: Rodney’s for lobsters, Buster’s Sea Cove for chowder, Oyster Boy for, well, oysters. But when you want something a bit different, there’s Honest Weight, a tiny, family-friendly spot in the Junction. Their daily-changing menu is all over the place but in a good way, with everything from okonomiyaki and latkes with gravlax to bouillabaisse. They also have an in-restaurant wholesale fish counter and serve brunch. photo credit: Rob Hyndman" - Jake Goldsbie
