"Homage serves casual farm-to-table cuisine, combining high-end food with an approachable setting and affordable prices. The restaurant pays “homage” to local farms and the people behind them, taking their fresh produce and highlighting flavors in unique dishes. The hyper-seasonal menu is eclectic and changes based on the local farm highlighted at the time. Founder and Executive Chef, David Kurtz wouldn’t classify his menu as being “Californian,” but rather one that is experimental and creative – derived from the source and its relationship with local farmers. You’ll find a range of different bites, such as the Heritage Pork “Cubano” or freshly rolled Potato Gnocchi.Tucked in a nondescript cul-de-sac, the restaurant is very quiet and peaceful – away from Market Street panhandling + tourists (who are lost looking for the cable car or Chinatown). Inside, you are greeted by raw wood floors and cute mosaic like decor, almost like you were walking into someone’s home or kitchen. You feel right at home in the midst of a busy downtown. Bonus: come back during Twilight Hours for small eats and wine (Kurtz is a level 2 somm!)." - outlier

"Its diminutive size sets it apart from the much larger, original Homage at 88 Hardie Place, seating 38 diners inside and on the sidewalk." - Ellen Fort

"The premise of this place is that each month they pay homage (see what they did there?) to a Bay Area farm, bringing in most of their produce from that one grower. The menu changes regularly, but you’ll find breakfasts of various sizes (from pastries to eggs and French toast), lunch dishes including salads and tartines, and evening snacking options like oysters, bruschetta, and charcuterie." - Taylor Abrams

A triple triumph of fantastic service, excellent sourcing and knowledge of their food and wine, and a creative menu populated by unequivocally delicious dishes. Too bad I didn't get a picture of the roasted wings because they were surprisingly massive and flavorful. Freshly baked cookie at the end was awesome! Will definitely come back to try whatever else they put on the menu!

This place is a piece of gem. The environment is so clean while you walked in. Summer squash soup is so good!! A must try! I also order the steak salad, honestly I don't quite like it, the beef has very plain flavor, and very chewy, the carrot and potato has the same problem. Hope chef can work more on the sauces.

Excellent food. Lovely location. We had pancakes, latte, burrito and fresh green juice. Not getting 5 ⭐️ because it's overpriced

The staff, the food, the coffee, and the selection of beer and wine are all fantastic! David is a skilled chef and a lovely human being. I find myself at Homage quite often. It is laid back, has a mixed crowd, and effortlessly creates a very welcoming environment. Count me in as a loyal guest.

Ahh I loved Homage. The avocado toast was fantastic. The textures they combined with having the solid avocado on top of the mashed avocado... it might sound like too much but they balance it perfectly. I wish I knew all the ingredients they through in here and I’d try creating it myself. I wish I lived in San Francisco just to get this dish more often!

Great food and coffee. Stopped by for brunch on a Wednesday and it was half full. I had a latte and eggs with their homemade chorizo sausage.

The food is good (not great). The dinner menu is limited as the place is more of a wine bar than a restaurant. I had a salad (mixed greens with farro and mushrooms). The ingredients were all fresh , including the endive and radiccio. The carrots and mushrooms didn't really go well with the other ingredients and the dressing had a hint of some spice that also didn't match. The croutons on top didn't belong, plus they were the plain croutons you find at salad buffets. The wines were very good and the service was excellent. Atmosphere-wise it's very pleasant. The clientele looked like professionals enjoying a drink or a small bite after work or people on dates.

Why do I like the expensive hipster places so much? It’s in a little alley so it’s a little hidden if you don’t know where it is, but the interior is super nice and clean and doesn’t look like it belongs in an alley. This place is conveniently located near my work and I stopped by here for lunch. I got the house smoked trout tartine and it was delicious! It’s not super big, but I was still filled up. The smoke trout was super fresh, light, and cooked perfectly. The in combination with the toast and veggies were really good. Overall, I love the ambience and the food is good as well. It might be for a once in a while treat though as this place is a little pricey.
