Hog & Hominy

My husband & I absolutely love coming to Hog & Hominy. He is a big fan of the Red Eye pizza & I have a sweet spot on my heart for the ever so flavorful wedge salad. Best wedge in Memphis, in my opinion. Even better than the dishes we ordered, our wonderful & funny server, Alex, made our brunch date splendid. She was knowledgeable of the brunch options, she suggested I get the espresso martini & I could not have been happier. She was incredibly attentive & never hovered. I will continue to come back in hopes I can be served by Alex once again.

We frequent this place pretty regular because the pizza is the best in town. We like to eat pizza early in the day so we come at 4pm when they open but always with a reservation. The last few times we arrived a few minutes after 4pm and the manager is holding a team meeting in the bar until 4:15pm and we have to sit there and wait for them to finish. There were 4 other couples who arrived at the same time and had to wait for this team meeting to finish in order to be seated and waited on; just really poorly managed IMO. If you open at 4pm, have your team meeting done by then! I’ll leave my original review below. I only drink beer here because the cocktails are still a problem. The service here is hit or miss, sometimes it’s great, sometimes it’s terrible. Just expect to roll the dice every time you come. October 2023: The pizza is great! I highly recommend them but the cocktails were watered down BIG TIME. They tasted great but were unfortunately lacking liquor. Our table of 4 drank nearly $400 worth of cocktails and nobody had so much as a buzz after 6 drinks (we’ve been back now several times and same problem every time - the drinks are weak; stick w/ beer and wine). The cocktails were unfortunate, especially since that is a big piece of the appeal of this place, hence why I am only giving a 3 star review, it is an integral piece to this restaurant and the cocktails are not meeting the mark. Also do not recommend the peanut butter pie, it was missing chocolate and just overkill with PB.

If you are in the midtown area and craving for a good Neapolitan pizza with an upscale, charming vibe, look no further. This place will check all the boxes. We went for a dinner in weekday night, and the place was fully packed. The parking could be tricky, however, they offer complimentary valley parking. We started the meal with shrimp toast. This was very unique and delightful. Next we shared a pizza called ‘Mikey likes it’, I don’t know about Mikey- but we liked it! Absolutely recommended. Classic 10/10 place.

This place was awesome! Food was delish, especially the pizza. Our waitress was lovely and all the service was excellent.

This is more about the service than anything else! Food is great, table service is great, management is great! The issue is the bar service, and not all the bartenders just one. I can’t even give you his name because he never really interacts with us. He ISN’T the muscle guy with the retro hair cut, it’s the other balding at the top bartender! He is extremely cold, we’ve sat at the bar several times and EACH and EVERY TIME this guy is just rude, he will ignore us the whole darn time. The only time he opens his mouth to us is to say last call or goodbye. Extremely poor. We honestly just considered never sitting at the bar again in that establishment. Which sucks because the other bartenders are just fine. He’s just a sore thumb in that restaurant. We thought it was just a one off night, but this was around the fifth time in a matter of weeks sitting at the bar. Ultimately ruins the whole experience. Unacceptable.

We went there for lunch,the food was very tasty, great atmosphere and friendly staff. We will surly go again!

I ordered pizza and it was tasty and well made, highly recommended, place was very clean, staff were nice and friendly.

We went here for a birthday party! Our waitress was 💯 everything looked perfect, I loved their pizzas and some drink called zombie 🧟
