Had dinner here with my soul sisters, and it was an amazing experience!
Parking: Off-street pay parking is available, or it’s within walking distance from the tram and Parliament Train Station.
Ambiance: The place was packed, but the atmosphere was lively and enjoyable. I recommend booking in advance.
Food: Absolutely delicious! We were so hungry and excited that we didn’t take many photos. If you’re dining with friends, I highly recommend the Feed Me Now option—it’s a great way to try and share a variety of dishes.
I definitely recommend this place—you won’t be disappointed!

An absolute gem of a restaurant! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with amazing service and a vibrant, outgoing atmosphere that set the perfect tone for the night. The interior design was stunning, adding to the overall experience.
We tried nearly all of their starters, and every single dish was nothing short of excellent—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The attention to detail in both food and service truly stood out.

Absolutely amazing food. The menu is able to cater to myriad dietary requirements.
Cocktail and wine list are great (with some interesting takes on established cocktails). We did the "Feed Me now* lunch... Which was a massive amount of food (for a great price!)
Service was efficient and really friendly.
We decided to sit outside (we didn't book, and it was a nice day). Outside table are not greatly comfortable, but is always fun to watch to passing croud.
Overall, a very enjoyable experience!

Loved this place. Great for hangout with friends. Can be loud at times. Food is great, with variety to choose from. Feed me menu offers great portions of dining in group. Cocktails great! Had a white chocolate cocktail and it blew my mind! Love the tofu cashew dish

Great food and great value at Hochi Mama. We had the feed me option where you get to choose 2 smalls, 2 mains and 1 side. This was good value and a great way to share dishes.
Fav would be the lamb massman curry but all the other dishes were good.

Tried this with my other 3 friends. We decided to order 5 large dishes, 1 entree and 2 sides (2 bowls of rice). We felt full. The price works out similar to if we went with Feed me now for 4 (4 large dishes+4 small dishes+2 sides = $200).
However, if we went with Feed me now option, I’m not sure if we would feel full because their entree portions are so small. The quantity is arranged with 2-3 pieces making most people paying more for additional pieces.
Lobster taco - quite a misleading name, this is not a taco but a cracker.
Fried chicken and pork leg curry were quite burnt especially the pork leg was so burnt that it was bitter.
If you don’t order alcohol, it is $50/person so it’s not too expensive. But the quality should be improved, try not ti burn food.

We came here on our first night in Melbourne looking for a feed after flying interstate for the Australian Open. It was getting kind of late and our hotel staff recommended us to check out the Chinatown area so that's what we did.
Really grateful for the recommendation as we otherwise would not have come across Hochi Mama. Even at 9pm on a Friday evening, this place is packed and buzzing! The staff at the entrance were very friendly upon arrival and even though we didn't have a booking, they told us to wait for around 5 minutes and that we could sit at the bar table area.
Upon entering the restaurant, it had a really cool vibe and we were drawn by the smells of awesome food, really cool decor and also the colour visuals of almost everything.
After perusing the menu, we decided to order two cocktails (Up in Smoke and Lycheezy) and went for the $49 per person "Feed Me Now" set menu dinner.
The cocktails were amazing and the Up in Smoke also came in a really cool tall statue glass! Food wise, we ordered the Lobster Tacos and Spicy Tempura Prawns from the "Smaller" category, Chinese Broccoli with Pork Belly and Southside Curry with Chicken from the "Larger" category paired with the Coconut Jasmine Rice on the side. All of the food was super delicious and we were in love with the rice (see photos attached).
Overall, this was an extremely enjoyable experience which we won't forget for a while and very keen to come back and give this place another go with their other dishes next time we're back in Melbourne.
Keep up the great work and kudos to your staff for a well rounded dining experience.

We came as a group of 4 and the food was great for sharing. Highly recommend the fish that was moist, tofu and spring rolls were delicious as well! We had the crispy pork vegetable that was nicely seasoned.
