"Have you ever had peach cobbler chicken and waffles? Or fried chicken pot pie? If you would like to correct the answer to either from “no” to “yes,” check out His Place Eatery, where traditional soul food and barbecue dishes are represented, plus a few twists on the classics. Husband and wife duo, chef James “Mackie” Jones and Shawn Jones, periodically add special menu items, like the pot pie: a deconstructed take with fried boneless chicken breast on top of a croissant-like pastry, topped with a creamy gravy studded with peas, carrots, and other vegetables. Everything was PERFECTLY delicious!! The cabbage melts in your mouth. The greens are fire! The Cajun grilled catfish was THE BEST I have EVER had!!! I was tempted to take another meal to go because it was so good. The banana pudding was fresh and delicious. I even tasted my daughter's hamburger and it was so good it didn't need any condiments. Everything was perfect and the service was very friendly and considering the fact that 20 of us came in at once we did not have to wait long for our food. I am a chef and I give this an A+!!

I really enjoyed this place. The corn bread muffin was great, the potato salad was delicious, and my fried chicken was juicy and done well. The collard greens weren’t my favorite but it’s better than most that I’ve tried. I also have the banana pudding and it was pretty good. The staff were really sweet. Noell was very attentive to everyone and made sure to check on us from time to time. I hope to come back and try more things on the menu :)

The menu looks like something you would've made up with your cousins reminiscing over Thanksgiving dinner. The food tastes like temptation. Your stomach will be full but your mouth won't be. The sweet tea is good, and I don't too much care for sweet tea..... it's a fruit tea, just so you are aware. I have not been successful but I was told to be here by 1300hrs to get a slice of the cobbler. Thank you to the server for being patient the first time around! Yes, I went there two days back to back. Yes, I custom made my own sandwich.

I was passing through this area for a road trip from Maine. I wanted true comfort food. This place is pretty close to route 465, so if you want soul food, and are on the way somewhere else, stop here for lunch or dinner. We did, and do not reject it at all. The staff was helpful to make sure I got the right order to go. I loved all the food. The mac and cheese was creamy and well cooked. The fried chicken was very good, and the red velvet waffle with it made it do die for. Definitely one of my favorite waffles I've ever eaten. My father really enjoyed the meatloaf he got. Overall, I recommend coming here. I wish we had time to eat in.

Magnificent Soul and Southern style food. You get a ton of food for the price you pay. Staff are very friendly and the place is always busy. The Bourbon Cream Corn side was unique and absolutely delicious, as was all the food. I'm looking forward to going back one day!

Very good smoked food. Dine in experience, arrived right as they opened the business for the day. Was seated immediately. Placed order and food arrived in less than 7 minutes. I ordered a grilled cheese with brisket. The Brisket was chopped, had excellent flavor, had a sauce on the sandwich and provolone cheese. Bread was toasted and crispy. I got two sides. Whiskey cream corn, had an interesting flavor, it was unique, corn kernels were full, unlike most creamed corn. Next was candied sweet potatoes. Cooked well, good flavor, brown sugar. Had sweet tea to drink. The tea is prepared with lemons in it and you can tell. Very lemony tea, but good. All in all a good experience, staff was friendly, food was good. Restaurant filled up fast. They have an interesting policy on large parties, basically nothing over 6 people unless you can get multiple tables. They want you in, eat, and leave. Makes sense to me considering table turnover makes money, and this isn't a big Restaurant.

I am always nervous about a Southern Restaurant in the North, but this place delivered. The fried chicken was perfect with a very neutral seasoning, nothing fancy. The collards were perfect and the green beans were the best restaurant green beans I’ve had and I am picky about green beans. Macaroni and Cheese was also one of the best I’ve had. Only side that didn’t shine as much was the Cole slaw. It was good, but I am a big vinegar and sugar slaw kind of eater. Definitely a true gem in Indy.

There was a wait time when we arrived & being New to the area, we didn't know where else we'd dine. The server was very talkative & sweet initially but there was a conflict in what my family member ordered & that visibly dampened the mood of the server. She ordered 2 meats & something I've not encountered since C19 is she came back with a plate to retrieve the meat that wasn't requested and walked away abruptly. However, I ordered the Chicken n' Churro Waffles & they Were Divine! GOODNESS, the crunch on this combination, the Sweetness of the Waffles was Everything! I would recommend eating here if ever you're in the area for sure!
