"Tucked on a quiet side street in La Condesa and just a stone’s throw from Parque España and Parque México, this property leans into the neighborhood’s status as the epicenter of cool and can fairly be called the coolest of the cool hotels. It caters to trendy travelers who seek out design-centric accommodations paired with bespoke, attentive service. Guests can order a complimentary breakfast to their room’s terrace and enjoy the tranquil sounds of the morning before heading out to explore the city." - Lauren Cocking

"One of the city's newer boutique hotels, Hippodrome has quickly become a popular place to stay. With a location in the artsy Condesa neighborhood, it's fitting that the hotel merges Art Deco and neoclassical architecture with contemporary interior design, styling rooms in black and white with touches of gray and lavender. The staff here aims to make your stay as carefree as possible, anticipating all sorts of needs-from airport transportation to laundry-with services included in your room rate. Molton Brown toiletries in the bathrooms add a touch of luxury."

Hippodrome Hotel

"How did it strike you on arrival? The Art Deco entrance is elegant and welcoming, but the low lighting—reminiscent of a speakeasy—gives this 16-room hotel a distinct cool-factor. Nice. What’s the crowd like?A mix of business and leisure travelers, some more dressed up than others, love the Hippodrome's design-centric rooms and location just a stone's throw from Spain Park and Mexico Park. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. The dark woods and maroon-grey palette make the spacious rooms feel plush and luxurious. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The bed is so comfortable, you'll melt into it after a long day on your feet. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?I appreciated the Molton Brown bath products. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.If you're lucky enough to book the penthouse, you can expect views of the city from your shower. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word? The Wi-Fi is free and strong. Room service: Worth it?Room service options are extensive; you can either order from the hotel restaurant or local spots with which it's affiliated. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The hotel is small, so there's no gym, but guests who want to keep up their exercise routine can use a local one just a few blocks away for free. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay? The perfect location on a quiet, leafy street in Condesa." - Susannah Rigg

Google
Hipódromo is a good location, equidistant between the hearts of Condesa and Roma and with a bit of character itself. We loved Odette bakery nearby, and taking a paseo (walk) around Avenida Amsterdam in the evenings. Quiasmo is the rare properly good coffee spot in CDMX. And Tortas Al Fuego was 👌||The staff at the Hippodrome was lovely. Usually it was just one person at reception and then an owner (?) or manager who would be hanging out in the lobby. The receptionists spoke varying levels of English but we made it work with my broken Spanish and Google Translate. The housekeepers were lovely and friendly, too. ||We took the penthouse balcony suite. The room was still pretty small. As another reviewer has noted, it is really a shared balcony with the other suite. That didn’t bother us, but it might depending on your attitude toward privacy and security. I did worry about all the mirrors in the room. We felt a couple of small earthquakes while we were there, which made me wonder how those mirrors would respond in the big one. We also wondered about air filtration. Pollution was okay while we were there, but seemed as bad in the room as outside. If you’re sensitive to pollution, you might give this place a pass. We would probably AirBnb it next time, as staying at such a small hotel didn’t feel very different from an AirBnb would have. But I couldn’t help rooting for these nice people to succeed.

Having stayed at numerous hotels in Mexico City, Hippodrome Hotel Condesa is a clear favorite. Tucked away on a quaint, quiet street near a beautiful park, it offers the perfect blend of charm and convenience. The staff are incredibly warm and accommodating, and the rooms are beautifully designed and comfortable. We loved our time here and can’t wait to return.

Here’s some things that I think you can improve on. When is that the patio door should have a screen on it. The mosquitoes were hard to deal with no luggage racks in the room until we asked for it and had to fight to get a second one there was some kind of a pump that started out working in the morning And was hard to sleep. we spent $1200 and you only give us two coffees A pencil and a piece of paper that you can actually write something down on I want to make a special thank you to the sweet girl that cleaned our room. She was very sweet and accommodating

Google
This is a lovely, small hotel with an amazing staff who was so helpful. The room was large and well appointed. We stayed in one of the penthouse rooms with a terrace as a treat and it was worth it. The hotel is in a very quiet part of town on a street with very little traffic and right next to Parque Mexico which made for great strolling and people watching.

First time in Mexico City, made a great choice with Hippodrome Hotel. Quick visit with my daughter and this hotel was the perfect base for a great stay. Was struck by the hospitality and warmth of the staff. They are always available in the lobby, interested in your plans and happy to offer recommendations or advice. The accommodations were modern and clean with an elegant, moody sophisticated vibe for the decor. Great bed, loved the nespresso machine in the room and powerful air conditioning and Wi-Fi. The Condesa neighborhood is just teaming with great cafes and restaurants and of course all the beautiful parks. The location felt very safe and convenient for our visit. I will come back again, 2 nights was not enough to see everything in Mexico City. When I return I’ll definitely stay at the Hippodrome Hotel.

Google
A gem of a hotel, in a perfect location on a quiet side street in the gorgeous Condesa neighborhood. We loved walking around Parque Mexico and the Amsterdam avenue loop in the mornings, stopping for coffee, snacks and shopping along the way. The service was excellent, with 24 hour availability and lovely staff always offering suggestions and helping out. The rooms were lovely, with very comfortable beds and great showers, and we loved the balconies on the 5th floor rooms we had. Perfect for people looking for a boutique spot, away from the typical chains.

Google
Perfect hub for our 36 hours in Mexico City. ||Highlights:|-Beds were very comfortable|-Shower was heavenly! Great products and sizeable. |-Little details were very well done: Fluffy towels, efficient housekeeping service, friendly staff, water upon arrival in the room. |-Location, location, location. Perfect for walking around the gorgeous streets of Condesa & nearby areas. |-The location did make for a bit of outside noise, but, it was not bad at all and very reasonable considering how close to cafes, shops, bars, etc. the hotel is. ||Things to know:|-If there was a restaurant on site, we didn't realize it! No one mentioned anything about this, but seems from other reviews there were food options.|-Airport transfer was a bit frustrating. We originally were delayed 3 hours, then 8, and the car service was going to charge us a waiting fee to wait at the airport, which they claimed was hotel policy. When we tried to cancel based on the sudden new fee, there was an email from the hotel saying you cannot cancel same day. They ended up honoring the same price, which was good, but made for more stress on an already stressful travel day. We also had to call the hotel at 11pm when we finally arrived as the driver turned his phone off and was not responsive. |I would encourage a taxi or uber from the airport instead.

Yelp
The staff makes this boutique hotel super special. Note that the rooms and halls are dark, but it makes for a very sexy atmosphere. Great place for a romantic getaway but I'm not sure it would be great for work.

Yelp
Hotel hippodrome is the perfect hotel for out of town travelers. The staff is English speaking and very accommodating. The hotel location is very convenient to all the restaurants, coffee shops, and taco stands in Condesa and only 15 minutes away from Polanco. With only 16 rooms, the hotel is very well kept and comfortable. Nice beds and large shower made our Formula 1 weekend stay very enjoyable. Definitely would recommend.

Yelp
This one is all about the location. Don't get me wrong, the hotel itself was quite nice(see below), but you'll be hard-pressed to find a better situated hotel in Mexico City. Hotel Hippodrome sits right atop Parque Mexico (perhaps the nicest park in Mexico City) straddling the charming and leafy Condesa and Roma Norte neighborhoods. The area is safe, quiet, and full off great dining, coffee, and nightlife options. Mercado Roma, Parian Condesa, Buna 42, Lalo, Contramar, La Clandestina, Merotoro, and many other similar offering are all a short walk from the hotel. The area is also the most central to other areas visitors typically seek out - Polanco, Centro Historico, Coyoacan, San Angel, Juarez, Zona Rosa, etc. Given the size of Mexico City, this might be more important than you think. The service is what you'd expect from an small, upscale hotel - a welcome drink, responsive staff, delicious continental breakfast you can take in your room, in the restaurant, or out on the sidewalk. The rooms are comfortable and nicely appointed with new furniture and Sonos music systems. Overall, I felt my stay was a great value and would highly recommend.

Yelp
Location is fantastic. The room was cramped and poorly maintained. Stains on the furniture, shower head spewing water out of seams. Two of us checking in but only one glass, one robe, one towel. No coffeemaker, and no coffee provided before the restaurant opens at 9am. On my first morning I went out to get a coffee and slipped on the polished stone floors at the entry, which someone had left with soapy water from recent mopping. I broke my toe, which obviously ruined my trip. I asked the receptionist to get me in touch with the manager, to personally explain how dangerous leaving wet floors in a lobby is, but never heard back. The worst part was finding afterwards how many beautiful and inexpensive airbnbs there are in the immediate area. We could have stayed in a large -2br with terrace, with coffee, robes and plenty of towels and glass for less than half the price of this low-value "boutique hotel".

Yelp
We've stayed with the Hippodrome on two occasions. It would have been three occasions, but they cancelled our guaranteed reservation the day we arrived in Mexico City without any advanced notice. Very poor management and customer service. They didn't even help us find a new hotel! In Condesa, an area with many great boutique hotels, we advise everyone to stay away from the Hippodrome.

Yelp
This hotel is extremely small and poorly lit. The lobby itself is cramped and the hotel doesn't accommodate any space to eat breakfast. Staff would bring a tray up to each room for the continental breakfast (croissant, fruit, juice and coffee) but water was 6 Mexican dollars each and not complementary. Our bathroom door didn't close and the ceiling light was broken. They said we had a queen size bed but it was only a full. There was barely enough room to walk past the bed to the bathroom as this room was so cramped. We ended up having to move the coffee table against the wall so the two of us could walk around at the same time in the room. (We are not big people- I am 5'4" and weigh 115 lbs.) This room was very uncomfortable and unpleasant. I would not stay here again and I would refer travelers to *any* other hotel besides Hippodrome.

Yelp
0 star service. Do not go here especially LGBT. I was very unwelcome here. Treated like a second class citizen. My visitors harassed. I had to leave early due to being uncomfortable with my safety and security. Please do not book. Owner is very rude and staff literally laughed in my face. In the end I was not refunded. They essentially stole my money refusing a refund. BEWARE.

Yelp
Stylish hotel, very clean, attentive staff, loved the neighborhood! Walkable, lots of cafes, close to local landmarks and points of interest. Highly recommend Hotel Hipódromo!

Yelp
We loved the location of this hotel. Despite being very near to so many things we found it to be a wonderful refuge from the city and a nice contract to the other more well known trendy hotel in the neighborhood. The staff were extremely cordial and helpful to us. We called the hotel directly to book our room (old school approach) and got a very favorable rate.

Yelp
Loved this PERFECT location with superb service in an Art Deco yet modern stylized hotel, across from La Parque de Mexico and mere steps to Av Amsterdam with its center walking path and plenty of charming restaurants, bistros, tiled monumental circular intersections. The 24-hour front desk is staffed by lovely folks. Our Butlers, Jose and Leo, met all our needs and answered all questions. We found all that we wanted and needed by walking and exploring within Condesa, towards Roma, Roma Norte. We found Mr Murdocks and Pretty Bitches beauty and hair salons (great men's barber, David), delicious coffeeshops open at all hours, fabulous taquerias, fine dining (MeroToro for example), cute shops, pharmacy, breakfast spots, ice creamery, metro bus and subway, Uber pick ups, you name it! Qualchier quieres! Use Booking.com and keep checking back as we found a reduction a few weeks before we arrived.
