You know it's bad when you're still at the place writing a review to ensure you get everything off of your chest. There is currently protesting going on and there was no mention to it prior to arriving. I arrived at the property and there it began. A striking employee was standing in the driveway with a handmade stop sign to allow the protesters to go back and forth. He took his sweet time moving but not before there were seven cars in either direction waiting to proceed. The chants for "Guests go home!" Were heard loud and clear and trust me, I'm on my way. These are the same people who need you to stay here when they are done striking and protesting to maintain their livelihood. Pick a struggle but be aware that your words and actions are impactful to others who are limited in changing the dynamic of the Hotel vs the workers dispute.
Parking at this location is $69 per day. Using your room key, you can come and go as you like but add it to your room before you enter the garage. During my visit, there was no valet parking available. Inside the garage, there are at least two floors of parking spots reserved for valet parking. Park there at your own risk but park on floors three and above.
Again, I check in and there's no mention that there will be zero housekeeping. I've been to properties where they clean every other day but since checking in on Saturday, September 28, 2004 to the writing of this review; no one has come to my room to clean, offer cleaning supplies or linen. I essentially became an impromptu Hilton employee. The housekeeping staff that is present is on scene to clean rooms as people are checking out to prep it for more unsuspecting guests who weren't informed about the mild chaos going on here.
Towels, coffee, toilet paper and tea were placed on a table near the elevator and you just had to grab what you needed to replace what you used. I find this in itself to be less than sanitary for everyone to be picking over the towels in the common area of the hotel hall. All the while, they charge $50 per day for a resort fee and tout Wi-fi is a part of the resort fee. Seriously? The elevator has a list of activities that occur sporadically and you have to wonder if they can't give a certain amount of attention to detail on a cleanliness standard, how robust will their activities be?
If you are a Hilton Honors member, you receive $18 a day, per person for use at a limited listing of businesses on the property. You have to charge it to your room and it's deducted. When you get to these businesses, the items available are extremely limited or out of stock. Of course you'll be met with the resort sticker shock on some of the items. The breakfast buffet is $29 per person and I've had better food at a baby shower. There are just a few items and a lot of cross contamination going on as the guy working there encouraged guests to use the spoon for one item for serving from another chafing dish. So if you are plant based, you're screwed because the utensil for potatoes doubled as the serving utensil for the bacon.
There are coffee, tea, water and juice options. The juices offered are diluted so much that you may as well opt to drink water. Again, you're bussing your own table and in my opinion is not worth the $29 + tax they charge.
The existing workers are burned out and the fake smile and the passive aggressive comments are a dead giveaway. Thus creating a circular conversation about expectations.
There are shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the bath. My roosmall refrigerator but no where on the property is there a microwave in the event you have items you'd like warmed. If you have a child with you, this poses an additional challenge if you were to buy heat and eat items for the kiddos. I ended up eating my leftovers cold.
There are limited hours to check a guest in but there is no in person check out. There is a QR code to scan and it tells you what to do with your room key(s) and the cards you received for towels at the pool. If you do not turn in the towel cards, you'll be charged. This is problematic as I'd like to see the line items I have been charged to dispute prior to departing. If you'd like to have your luggage stored in case you arrive early, there's a $50 charge. If you'd like to have it stored after you've checked out, there's a charge. Late check out is almost equal to a night's stay so plan accordingly.
I cannot refer others to stay at this property. They fail to do the bare minimum and offer no explanation or remedy for failing to offer their advertised amenities. While I understand the workers are seeking change, I was seeking an opportunity to decompress. If at all possible, call your lodging beforehand to find out about remodeling, closures and any other unfavorable conditions that you'd want to steer clear of. People pay too much money to be roped into the ongoing dispute and asked to settle for less. Hilton, do better by your employees and guests!
