Hickory Lane American Bistro

A great bistro that has both indoor and sidewalk seating in a friendly area that's great for a drink after work with your friends or a relaxed meal with your better half. The menu is relatively modest in size but is carefully crafted and well executed, although the burger is a "can I have another napkin?" type experience that's a bit messy; I noticed another patron eating theirs with a knife and fork. The mac and cheese with pork appetizer was a great start to the meal. Our waiter Francis was very friendly and on top of things. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, you may to to circle the block a few times to find something but you eventually will but it's worth it.

This is one of my favorites go to places to eat. The atmosphere is quiet and in kiting for couples as well as a full family. I have eaten here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and each meal I ordered was well prepared, delicious, and healthy! This dinner entre consisted of mashed cauliflower instead of potatoes w/pan seared crusted salmon and lightly glazed brussel sprouts topped with bacon.

Great brunch and very affordable. Would recommend making a reservation, since it’s a smaller restaurant. Great grits and French toast. Would highly recommend both.

Definitely get the Mac N cheese and steak frites! The Jalapeño margarita is great as well.

This place could be above average. I went their 2 weekends ago for brunch. The food was really good except for a long wavy brown hair in my girlfriends "Kitchen Sink" menu item. The atmosphere is good, noise level is appropriate, servers are friendly... just that hair! I'm not saying hair in food doesn't happen. That's why I gave 3 stars instead of 5. I was reimbursed the cost of my coffee but not the cost of the food item that was contaminated? I understand reality and I'm sure it was an accident.... but I don't have to like it.

I finally tried Hickory Lane this past weekend for Brunch. (Reservations recommended, it seems to get very busy) The food was amazing. I also was sitting where I could see the food being prepared and being sent out. Not only did everything smell (and taste) delicious, the presentation was amazing! I was already planning my next trip and what to try next before I had even received my food. What a great hidden gem in the neighborhood!!

The burger was absolutely fantastic. The salad was tasty too, but the fries weren't the best. The service wasn't impressive, but it could have been just an off day for the bus boy and server. It was crowded (maybe it's better in the summer when there's outdoor seating) and a little pricey, but delicious. I'd go again.

They have limited hours. They are frequently out of things listed on both the food and drink menu. The food that they do have is only mediocre at best. We live locally and have given them multiple chances to improve, 5 times in the last year, and it hasn't changed. I honestly don't know how they are still in business since the busiest I ever see them is Sunday brunch, and that is only when the weather is nice and people can sit outside. The rest of the time when I'm out walking the dog I see no more than a couple of tables with people at them.

I'm just updating my review! It's still 5 stars! My sister who lives nearby, is obsessed and comes here regularly! Every time I've visited her, we come here. The key is to get here early. They don't take reservations. On a Saturday morning at 8:30, the inside was already packed. They open at 8! There's some outdoor seating options. Believe the hype! The food is delicious, comes out quickly, and the portions are generous This time, I had the avocado toast - came with a poached egg and home fries - it was yummy and filling.

What went well? Everything! We lucked up on this spot while in town for the New Balance Nationals Outdoor Track Meet. We were a larger party but the hostess was not phased and seated us quickly. Portion sizes are HUMONGOUS! At our table, we enjoyed shrimp and grits, pancakes about a foot in diameter, a variety of omelets, brioche stuffed French toast and tofu scramble. Everyone enjoyed every single bite that they could hold. Sabrina's was so good that we ate at the airport location while waiting on our flight the next day.

Everything was wonderful. Brunch and lunch at Sabrina's is a Philadelphia is a city institution for a reason and this place did not disappoint. I got the chicken and waffles which was excellent. The chicken was very juicy and the waffles crisp and soft. We got french toast for the table which was also great though we probably should have gone for the classic challah french toast. The vibes were nice and our server was prompt and attentive. However I'd like to mention one specific food item that my friend got. He said the buffalo chicken sandwich might be the best sandwich he ever had. After trying a bite, it was hard to disagree. I'm definitely getting ready hat next time. And while brunch usually has a wait that line moves surprisingly fast! So yeah as always folks, Do Attend.

I order takeout from here occasionally, but it's been a while since I've dined there. So I went with some people for lunch one day since we were in the area after a networking event. It wasn't crowded, but felt full with a good number of people having lunch/brunch. The staff were all pretty friendly. We were seated right after walking in and the service was a good pace throughout the entire dining experience. We all ordered something different but seemed to enjoy what we got. One person ordered one of the sandwich specials, another ordered the Mel's Chicken Sandwich and I got the Sante Fe Turkey Burger with sweet potato fries. It was very tasty, filling and served at the right temperature. I also had their Blueberry Lemonade which was really good. As always, a reliable place for a good meal. I recommend coming for brunch or course, but lunch is a good option too.

Really really enjoyed having brunch here a few days ago. I flew in from MN to attend a concert and before heading to DE, I stopped by for a quick brunch with friends. We were greeted as soon as we got in and the service was great. I got the huevos rancheros, which had a very unique twist to it. Not traditional but it was good. I was hoping the eggs would be cooked in a tomato sauce. My buddy got the stuffed French toast and oh man that was off the chains!! I love their outdoor seating and inside accommodation for luggage Very hospitable place for those who city hop like myself.

As a local, Sabrina's is one of the BEST brunch spots. It's a classic place with amazing, hefty portions for reasonable prices. Service is always fantastic and the ambiance is relaxes. An extra plus that it is BYOB with a liquor store a few minutes walk away. Only downside is the wait on weekends during peak brunch hours - except 45+ min waits given the popularity.

I'm very spoiled to live near Sabrina's. If you want to make brunch and *OCCASION* filled with fun but still very casual, go here! Whenever my friends or visiting company are inspired to find brunch, Sabrina's always comes up! Staff are always SO nice and service is superb despite how busy it can get. The food always slaps, portions are fantastic, and everything is fresh. Love that they have a seasonal menu so there's always something new to try! It can get hard, admittedly, because all the food is so good you're split between "do I want my usual" and "oh dang that other item looks GOOD." They offer a bustling take-out service and delivery through apps. If you want to dine-in, either get there early or be mentally prepared to hear there is a waitlist. I think the longest we've waited was during a holiday weekend with beautiful weather and it took about 40 minutes-- but we did not mind! We can occasionally walk right up to be seated depending on the time and day. Note: NO RESERVATIONS to keep it fair! TL;DR Sabrina's is fabulous and I'm already hoping I can find an excuse to go in the near future, haha.

We went here for Saturday brunch and had a great meal! The restaurant is small so keep that in mind when bringing the kiddos as there are only certain spaces that they can put you in with a booster seat. Even though we were there for brunch we were seated pretty quickly. I ordered one of the specialty chai lattes and it was delicious but the amount of whipped cream on top is bananas. You can't even drink it without fighting through the mountain of whipped cream. We had cinnamon toast pancakes and they were pretty delicious. My only complaint is they only add the cream cheese topping to the top pancake so you can't distribute it on both of them and they're pretty huge so you need the sauce. Otherwise a great meal!

Sabrina's offers a lovely brunch experience with their variety of classic and creative plates. I visited their Art Museum location with family. I ordered the vegetarian huevos rancheros, which was delicious but a bit heavy. Others in my group went with solid options like the egg sandwich and buttermilk pancakes, which were solid choices. I was a little disappointed by the relatively slow service and weak coffee. The atmosphere could also perhaps use an update. Taken together, I thought this was a great place to take visitors since the menu was full of crowd pleasing choices!

This place was so delicious. I DoorDashed from here for an early morning breakfast and I had the brioche french toast and the turkey sausage. The french toast was so fluffy and really flavorful and the turkey sausage was tasty. The food came quickly and, having driven by this place a few times, I can tell the vibes are awesome. I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in Philly.

This place was definitely worth the wait! Only waited about 30mins for 3 people. Granted there was a race that had just finished so I'm guessing the wait was extra long because of that. The place is small but cozy and every booth was full and the turn over on seats was great. Now the food the start of the show!! Everyone's meal was great no complaints here. I had the lemon ricotta pancakes with fresh berries, it's 3 perfectly sized pancakes with fresh home made whipped cream. The lemon was nice and tart but not too over powering but balanced out with the berries on top. I also ordered a side of eggs just so I had a savory component. Everything from the service to the staff and the food was top tier. Will definitely recommend and come back when in Philly.

When the waitress came out and put the food down I exclaimed "This is literally all I've ever dreamed of!" She laughed but I was so serious. Baby, I've finally tried Sabrina's Cafe! I took these pictures so fast so I could eat, I'm sorry for the quality y'all. This shrimp and grits-- yumtastic! But honestly this half portion (so imagine the size of the regular portion) stuffed challah French toast was the greatest decision I've ever made in my decades of life. I miss it.

The stuffed challah French toast is everything! We usually get an order to share because it's huge. Service is always top tier. They don't take reservations, so expect a wait, but it's never as long as they say! One of my fav places to get breakfast.

Food was excellent. I very much enjoyed the Kick A__Burrito with the Irish coffee . Although service was very slow, the servers were extremely nice... albeit forgetful..., I had a very long layover so I didn't mind being able to hook up my laptop for a recharge as well as my phone and chilling out for a short while with excellent food. The vibe was very upbeat and sunny and bright... Although it was a little bright so I had to pick a corner table with a little bit of shade... In the east side on the morning...

My server was so friendly and I appreciate her recommendation to get the eggs Benedict. That was the best eggs benedict that I had in a long time. The home fries were cooked perfectly but the green peppers were a little undercooked. I enjoyed my experience and will def be back!

How have I not recommended Sabrina's yet. Delicious food and even better service. Sabrina's is an institution in Philly. You would be lucky to find a place to sit over the weekends. They do deliver with a few food delivery companies and the food has always been good. I always tend to gravitate towards the kick ass burrito or the Philly cheesesteak omelette. Portions are HUGE and I end up boxing half of my food for later. Must visit breakfast spot in Philly.

Nice brunch spot in the heart of Philly. Tried their banana pancakes which I think was on their special menu for the week featuring the Eagles. I was surprised by the portion and how big the pancakes were. A tad too sweet for my tastebuds but balanced out with an order of their Huevos Ranchero. A savory dish with corn tortillas topped with smoky chorizo sauce, sour cream, Guacamole, two eggs and pepper jack. I think I enjoyed this one a lot more than the pancakes. Ordered a mock tail to go along with all the goodness. The flu shot was smoked tea over ice, lemon, honey and a candied ginger. Very unique drink and it sure was smokey.

Finally had the chance to try a full breakfast spread at Sabrina's (I had previously only been for coffee) and was not disappointed! I know I am a little biased, but can we all agree that every busy brunch restaurant in the city should be using the waitlist feature on Yelp? The system just works so beautifully - throw your name in with the host, bop to Kite and Key for a mimosa, bop back 20 minutes later when your table is ready. Easy. It makes choosing a good breakfast in the neighborhood a no-brainer. We arrived on a busy Sunday around noon as a party of 3, and our wait only ended up being ~10 minutes. It was a beautiful morning so we sat outside to enjoy the lemon ricotta pancakes, eggs benedict, and a lox sandwich. I had no idea Sabrina's was a BYO, but grab a bottle of bubbles on your way in if you're looking for a cost effective boozy brunch. The eggs benedict and pancakes were delicious. Two perfectly poached eggs, thick and fluffy/decadent pancakes, and if you have a person who will go splitsy with you, this is the way to go. Little savory little sweet. I also especially liked the onion-y home fries that came with the eggs benny. Our server was a total rockstar and answered all of our ridiculous questions. Prices are super reasonable and you can't beat the vibes, inside or outside. As a resident of the neighborhood, I look forward to my next trip here and will never be deterred by the wait again. Great food, lovely staff and cool place! There are reasons to wait the 30-40 mins for a table. This place is awesome for breakfast/brunch! If you want your mimosa, remember to bring your own alcohol (there's a liquor store almost next door), or you'll be on mocktails... Had the French toast latte and the cannoli French toast, better half had the Cuban. All was delicious and has me thinking about going back... on a regular basis... The room is also pretty cool, has the old cafe vibe on the counter, a few booths and tables. The glass art on the main window is lovely!

We were in town for one night and Sabrina's was recommended to us for breakfast and they did not disappoint. Food was amazing , service was great and the restaurant was so cute. 10/10

Delicious food with plenty of vegetarian options. Staff is friendly and we received great service. My daughter had the chai tea and it was beautiful and delicious.

INCREDIBLE!!!! Make this a stop when visiting Philadelphia. My son and I had the stuffed challah French toast, avocado toast and bagel with lox. Each bite of the dishes was better than the last. The staff were incredible, warm and friendly. Valerie was our server and was just lovely.

No matter the location, I never have any complaints. This was my first time at this location and while it was very busy, it felt like the food came quickly. As a table, we ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes, Indiana Jones French toast, cannoli French toast, chicken and waffles, and the huevos rancheros. As expected, the French toast was sweet for our 30+ year old taste buds but the pancakes were just right (no syrup needed). Our server checked in a couple of times and only one small complaint was that we asked for cheesy home fries but they arrived plain. We decided we didn't need the cheese anyway lol If you're a bigger group, be mindful that seating is a bit tight. Also expect a wait due to its popularity. We grabbed coffee nearby at Bison although they were kindly using their outdoor seating area as waiting space. We assumed the outdoor area was closed for service due to the on/off rainy weather.

Service was great. My meal (vegetarian huevos rancheros) came out so fast I doubted it was my order. Sure enough it was mine and my husband's came out shortly thereafter. I can't remember the last time we've had such great service. Our meals were delicious. There were multiple entrees that we'd like to try so we'll definitely be back.

Had to sit outside but really greqt side area nice breeze on a sunny day in Philly. Enjoyed my Philly omelet and wife, and daughter split two items, California omelet, and an order of mushroom toast. The ladies loved their meal with a side salad and one with whole grain toast and home fried potatoes nice and crunchy but soft and chewy on the inside. My Philadelphia omelet was filled with sausage, mushrooms roasted pepper long, hot pepper, provolone, and Parmigian. Cassandra, our server, was completely all over, making sure each table in the outdoor area was happy from when we walked in until we were done. The outdoor area had a lite breeze and was comfortable nice and shady with umbrellas over all the tables. Nice brunch in a city filled with places to go.

I came here to get brunch with friends and had a wonderful experience. We were seated quickly and Sasha, our server, was so nice! I was surprised at how busy it was during the middle of the week on a weekday! The restaurant was definitely full, but didn't feel cramped or anything like that. The Lavender Latte was delicious. I also got the Cannoli French toast and was completely wowed. The portions here are HUGE and I had leftovers that I plan on enjoying tomorrow :)

This place was so good! We had banana pudding pancakes and a side of chicken plus shrimp and grits The pancakes were so good didn't need syrup. Fluffy and flavorful! 10/10 recommend!!! These were the best pancakes I've had in my entire life! I'm editing this review to say that because I woke up this AM thinking about the pancakes. Lord!!! The chicken was juicy and seasoned with great herbs and spices not very salty but good and crispy. I say 8/10. The shrimp in the shrimp and grits was flavored to perfection but everything else was just ok. Could have used more flavor. You needed a piece of shrimp in every bite but there was enough shrimp for that. We sat outside kind on the street not the best seats in the house as it was loud and everyone a car passed you could feel the patio floor more. We never stepped foot in the restaurant as the host was outside so I have no idea what the ambiance is inside. Service was good and food came pretty quick. I like to rate places on whether I would go back. I'm in town visiting and have decided no matter what I have to figure out how to go back before I leave. I have to try the lemon ricotta pancakes.

This place is incredible and I understand why they always have a line out the door. My first time here, I went with my partner and we were starving. It was closer to lunch time, so I got a sesame noodle bowl and he got pancakes, and we were both satisfied. It's a little small in there, but they crank out the food and get you in and out, and the prices are so manageable!

OH. MY. GOSH! If you are considering this place for breakfast, just GO! We were staying nearby at the Logan and decided to check it out because it had great reviews and was a close walk. Later, my friend shared that this is a Philly staple, so I'm glad we did. It is a very unassuming diner located on what looks like a side street, so the traffic is not too busy. You can sit at tables, booths, or the counter. I will say the booths are a little tight, but a small price to pay for this amazing experience for your taste buds. Full disclosure... I am writing this because I had the Canneli French Toast, and it was not only a HUGE portion but absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. (You know how it can be hit or miss with French toast; well that is not an issue here.) We also had two waffles, scrambled eggs, turkey sausage and the chicken and waffles (CNW). The waffles were delicious, and I couldn't put my finger on what was in the butter/spread with the CNW, but it was a pleasant surprise. In all, we only spent about $60 - winner! We were seated immediately: they have crayons and paper for the children. There's also a place for your belongings as you enter to the right. The service was extremely friendly and kind. I will say I don't consider it brunch without a mimosa, and they do not serve them. For that reason, I will stick to calling it breakfast. Check it out - you won't be disappointed.

went to two locations of sabrina's cafe and we ate that shit up bothhhh times, the food is soooo good and the service is amazinggg!! we went to two different locations and they looked different; one felt very homey (fairmount) and the other one felt more like any other cafe (southstreet) but nonetheless, both places were very pretty!! foods fuckkinggg delicious tho i highly recommend the shrimp tacos and mel's chicken sandwich, that shit was gassss

We came for the PAX Unplugged at the Philly convention center, and arevery happy to find Sabrina's Cafe to enjoy our brunch at. It's only 15 minutes waking distance from the convention center. Philly omelette - cheesy sausage with mushrooms. The potato sides were very well roasted and seasoned. Portion is decent. Lemon ricotta pancakes - OMG, the portion is huge. The soft pancakes were full of appetizing lemon flavor, topped with a thick layer of raspberry jam and super light whipped cream. Melts in your mouth. Hazelnut latte - love the taste and the amount of milk foam. Wait was about 20 minutes Saturday noon to be. Total bill, with tax, before tips, comes down to less than $40. Very reasonable price.

What can I say ???? I've missed Philly ! Decided to come to this little gem based on the great reviews, and I was not disappointed. I got there bright and early as soon as they opened and within minutes the place was packed. Guess that should tell you how good the place is !! I got the huevos rancheros with the little homies, and it was amazing! The fried jalapeño on top gave it the perfect touch and it made me enjoy the meal that much more ! Will be back soon !

One of the best brunch places i've been to in Philly! Although it was incredibly busy on this particular Saturday morning, the service, the quality of the food, the ambiance, and the overall experience were great! I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes, which were rich and fluffy; the highlight of the meal however was the berry compote on top. Sooo delicious! My friends ordered some of their egg dishes and they highly recommend! We also really liked the fact that they were able to separate our checks even though we were a larger party of 6- most places won't do that anymore. Will definitely be coming back here!

We ordered some take out from here one morning, it was good. I wish we had gone here instead I feel like breakfast would've been better if we actually ate here. Maybe next time. Can't say much else since my hubs just picked it up for us.

Hands down one of our favorite spots in Philly! There can be a bit of a wait, but it's well worth it! Food comes up quickly, the staff is amazing & everything is so good!

Went to Sabrina's Cafe for my babes birthday and had an amazing first time experience. Most friendly staff I have ever encountered. The food was bomb to say the least we had Ultimate Mexi omelette, Scrapple & side of potato's. Omelette was the best I have ever eaten. Highly recommend!!!

Fast service! Yummy omelette. Came here hungry left full!!! only thing I'd say is don't let the pics fool you, got a short stack of pancakes and in all the reviews they looked so much smaller oml our table was packed bc they were so huge! So good though! Oml don't get me started on that Cinnamon Toast Crunch chai latte. That was delicious delightful and decadent!! So so so good.

Welcome to the best breakfast you'll have in Fairmount. There's always a wait here for a reason -- the place is THAT good. This place is great for families and offers a little something for everyone. I recommend getting one of their specialty lattes to start, and if you're in a sweet mood the lemon blueberry pancakes are a must.

Absolutely delicious! We were headed to the Museum of Art but wanted a solid breakfast first. It was a brisk walk from the museum. The Cannoli French toast was the perfect amount of sweet but not too sweet. My daughter ordered a pretty simple breakfast of eggs, hash browns and toast. The hash browns were real potatoes not the bagged frozen shreds. Staff seated us quickly and were friendly. We will definitely go back!

Food was good nothing to brag about. A sandwich with a side of hash brown was $11.99 which I think was very fairly price. We called ahead with no reservations and were able to get in right away with no wait on a busy Saturday. The place gets extremely busy and loud but the server was very friendly and accommodating. Great place to go for a simple meal with friends.

Food is excellent, however you will have to wait. Parking is not easy to find due to having to park on the street. If you're waiting you can't leave and come back. FYI. This location is better than the location in south Jersey.

The best, so good that I went twice while on vacation. My bf and I have said this is the only reason we'd come back to Philly

Sabrina's cafe was small but nice and cute. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my daughter ordered Jamaican jerk rice bowl. The food was pretty good but I think it could have been just a little better. Service was pretty quick even though it was busy. I'd go back but I'd try something else.

I went to the Sabrina's on callow hill St. The food is good and the proportions are large. It's a little on the pricy side but good overall.

First time at this location but 2nd time eating at a Sabrina's. Food was good but especially the pancakes. Best chocolate chip pancakes I've ever had. So basic but they were so good. Maybe a personal thing but I found the carrots in the Huevos rancheros strange and the amount of chorizo was a little sparse. Good portion size. Came after the Rocky Run and it was very busy since it seems like everyone had the same idea for brunch. The 30-45 minute wait wasn't too bad though, just took a little stroll around. If anything I'm surprised they got us in that fast with the amount of people there. Staff were all very friendly and service was quick. A lot of seating inside. I personally find it borderline cramp, but I did come on a busy day so I'll take that into consideration.

Stumbled upon this cute breakfast/brunch spot recently after dance class. Parking can be tricky if you're not familiar with the area but there is some street parking in the immediate area and a lot about a block up the street. It's BYOB so come prepared because they don't serve alcohol. The food was great. We had shrimp and grits which I'm told had lots of flavor and was possibly one of the best they've ever had at a restaurant, I had an eggs Benedict and my daughter had pancakes. Everything was delicious! All staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I highly recommend Sabrina's
