Boutique hotel with modern rooms, apartments, rooftop bar, library
"With the arrival of Svenja and Adrian Nessensohn (both previously employed at Lampart's in Hägendorf), Helvetia has gained two dedicated and friendly hosts who keep abreast of the latest culinary trends. They are also committed to a sustainable approach and the use of locally sourced ingredients. Some of the meat is even provided by the chef's brother, who runs his own farm. Get comfortable in this pretty restaurant, where a relaxed atmosphere reigns, and savour an appealing set menu with dishes designed to be shared – also available in a vegetarian version by prior arrangement. In summer, make a beeline for the gorgeous terrace. The restaurant is also open at lunchtime on Thursdays – the set menu is shorter but also includes vegetarian options." - Michelin Inspector

"Tucked up under the eaves of the Hotel Helvetia are two apartments, and I’ve stayed in one on every visit. The walls of the apartment are hung with artworks by Verena Loewensberg, Erik Steinbrecher, James Turrell, and Beat Zoderer and there’s a Hästens bed in each. But for lifelong insomniacs, like me, the real luxury is a kitchenette that allows me to make a nice cup of tea before the cafe downstairs is open, a big table for working, and walls of leaded glass windows that open wide so I can let February’s fat snowflakes and the sound of the churchbells drift in." - Maggie Harrison
"The boutique-y 19th-century Hotel Helvetia, on the Sihl, is a go-to for gallerists en route to Art Basel."
"The boutique Hotel Helvetia can be found in the centre of Zurich, close to the main train station, right at the Sihl river, between the banking district and the trendy Kreis 4 district. The restaurant offers you contemporary Swiss cuisine with an international touch, combining Haute Cuisine and simple, traditional Swiss recipes. Among the specialities from all around the world you can find Viennese Schnitzel with cucumber salad, Beef Tartar and young salted herring with celery salad. Every Sunday morning you can enjoy an extensive brunch. WiFi is available in all of the stylishly furnished rooms free of charge. Close to the Helvetia Hotel you find the Stauffacher square, which is an important public transport hub, from where all places in Zurich are easily reachable by tram. The Selnau S-Bahn (commuter train) stop is close by as well." - My Boutique Hotel (en)
