This tiny eatery boasts a lively communal vibe with BBQ and burgers that skillfully blend Southern and Korean flavors—perfect for a quick outdoor bite.
"Sure, parking is tight and “dining in” means standing outside over a highboy, but we’ll suffer these minor inconveniences for this BBQ. Owned by a former Korean pop star-turned chef and her Texas-raised partner, Cumberland’s Heirloom melds smoky grill flavors with hefty doses of Korean influences. And while K-fusion is nothing new, Heirloom just does it best. Smoked ribs get slathered in a gochujang rub and spicy pork sandwiches come with a healthy dollop of tangy kimchi on top. Even their side game is strong—we'd be happy to eat their sweet and spicy tofu cubes as a main and their mac and cheese with chili flakes adds a pop of fun to a Southern staple." - nina reeder, jacinta howard, juli horsford
"Korean flavors meet Southern barbecue at critically acclaimed Heirloom Market BBQ, located about two miles from the Battery Atlanta and Truist Park in the Cumberland area. It’s a takeout-only joint, so plan to enjoy this barbecue at home or in the car. It’s not uncommon to see people eating in the parking lot. For wing lovers, order a pound of smoked drums and flats, which are flash fried and tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce and served with a side of zesty kimchi mayo." - Mike Jordan, Henna Bakshi
"This Cobb County barbecue spot has limited seating, but chefs Cody Taylor and Jiyeon Lee bring more than enough flavor to compensate for the cramped quarters or a ride home with a to-go box. Taylor and Lee’s Southern-meets-Korean barbecue restaurant offers a must-try spicy Korean pork sandwich on its menu with chopped rib meat marinated in fermented chile paste, topped with kimchi coleslaw, black sesame seeds, and a sliced scallion. Order the sandwich with a side of Brunswick stew or collards." - Eater Staff
"On a rainy day, I decided to get takeout from Heirloom Market BBQ. How could you go wrong? It is convenient to order online for pickup. The three meats and three sides for $40 is a hefty portion of everything. They say it’s for two people, but trust me, it’s more for four. The brisket, chicken, and spicy Korean pork are all tender and grilled to perfection (especially those burnt end on the chopped-up pork). There were plenty of leftovers for a taco night the next day. The collard greens, beans, and kimchi were hits, though the mac and cheese might be better eaten hot instead of reheated. The Korean barbecue sauces come in several heat levels and are all delicious." - Henna Bakshi
"Have you ever had sticky ribs cooked by a famous K-Pop star? Well, you’re missing out. Since 2010, Atlantans have had a fan-like obsession with Heirloom Market BBQ, which is helmed by a former Korean pop star-turned-chef and her Texas-raised husband. Widely considered among the best barbecues spots in the entire state, Heirloom Market BBQ in Cumberland gives you the best of both worlds with menu items like their smoked ribs with a gochujang rub and tender beef brisket. We also like the mix of sides from the spicy, lightly fried and cubed tofu to the mac and cheese made with shell noodles. It's a mostly to-go joint, but there are a few highboys on the corner patio if you can't wait." - demarco williams, jacinta howard
