Cute style and very homey feel, restrooms are clean and well stocked; wheelchair accessible. Plenty of outdoor seating for the wait-list, though we only had to wait 7 minutes. We got the lechon and the lamb ribs. It is the BEST lamb I have ever had, and the best meal I've eaten in the state! Definitely going to miss those ribs when I go back to Oahu....

We arrived here on a Christmas eve for dinner hoping to get fed as they were understaffed and there were lines of people waiting. Huge respect for them to keep the business open - the staff repeatedly apologized for delayed service but kept their cheer all throughout the evening. We ordered chicken cutlet loco moco and salad with Korean chicken and dumplings. The portions were huge - my wife remarked that they almost put a full lettuce in the salad - so generous! The chicken cutlet was tasty and the gravy was outstanding. I wanted more of that gravy but they had ran out by that time. The dumplings and chicken in the salad were great too. We were grateful to be able to have meal on a holiday night.

Syrup was less sweet than I’m used to, but not an issue. The hash browns were expertly fried with a great texture. Portuguese sausage was well-seasoned and delicious. Staff came around for coffee refills frequently!

We've been here a few times over the years. Consistently good food with generous portions. Be prepared to wait, even if you're ordering to go. If you're not in a hurry and it's a 30 minutes or less wait time, stick around and treat yourself to some good food.

The food is amazing lots of local choices along with American food and daily specials. Their breakfast plates come with the most delicious pancakes or waffles that are large enough to feed a tribe. Portion sizes here are definitely Hawaiian style so come with a big appetite.

I usually take reviews with a grain of salt. I have to say this joint did not disappoint! It all began with the service, our server was amazing! I am vegetarian (ex meat eater so I’ve had both versions ) and wanted the loco moco without meat, this is bar none the best I’ve ever had! I also wanted a side of the Haupia pancakes, my wife got the spam and egg plate. Rather than paying an extra $9 for the pancakes our server suggested she get the Haupia pancakes for her side and save $8 which we did. Treated like family and for people like our family who like to eat the portions are huge! We will definitely be going back next visit just based on the overall experience and food. Still craving this spot and it’s been over a week! There is a wait and for good reason. However, there are fantastic local shops to walk through and Big Island Candies is across the way to add to the experience after and pick up your chocolate dipped cookies.

Our food was "ono" delicious and the service was great! The music was perfect for the occasion.

Excellent breakfast! We tried bfast specials w 2 eggs laulau hash, hashbrowns , side of waffle w haupia and chicken katsu(crispy cutlet) moco loco. The waffle was amazing and the haupia coconut custard topping is hands down the best I've ever had. A real bargain compared to other places and absolutely deeelish!! Gayle was our wonderful server, patient kind and efficient. We arrived early on a Sunday -around 9am- and did not even wait 5 minutes to be seated. Lots of parking in lot or on streets. Aloha spirit!

Always nice as quick as they can service. Long long waits, but always worth it. Plan to wait. Sign in at kiosk right away, it's inside. Bathrooms are a one star. They have only two separate bathrooms for the crowds they serve. I don't think they are even looked at but to replace toilet paper. Could be worse, there could not be a restroom.

Friendly service. Waited 10-15min for a table. Loved the hash browns. Omelette was just okay nothing special. Pancakes were good came as a side with my omelette. Wasn't thrilled with this plate (garlic chicken and chicken cutlet

Stopped by during breakfast time, and it was pretty packed, wait time about 40 minutes. So we just decided to get takeout and eat in the car. I got the Portuguese & Ham combo omelet with hash browns. The omelet...was good! Nothing mind blowing but definitely hearty and the insides were cooked very well. Pairs well with ketchup of course. Hash browns, light and crispy. Honestly could eat a whole plate of just that. I'd probably try other breakfast places before coming back, but still a great meal overall! PROS: - parking is easy, location is easy to find - menu options are plentiful, prices are reasonable - solid breakfast option; hash browns were light and crispy while the omelet was well made CONS: - wait times can get long

When you are a loco moco gourmet and critic like I am (which isn't saying much), you seek out places that are known for good loco mocos. It isn't hard to make, the ingredients are simple, but it's the attention to detail and pride in their ingredients that puts one over another. Here at the Hilo Hawaiian Style Cafe, they care. And they kick it up several notches. This was our first stop for breakfast when arriving into Hilo, and luckily we got here when they opened as the restaurant quickly filled up within minutes. The staff is super friendly and attentive. I, of course, threw all caution aside and ordered the Mok-A-Saurus, which is the loco moco with 4, yes FOUR, meats: spam, chicken cutlet, kalua pork, and hamburger patty. I ate it all save a few spoonfuls of rice. I ordered a side of their mac salad (which you gotta have with any plate lunch), and it had tuna inside. Not too many places serve tuna mac, and it was a good compliment to the dish. Not going into detail for the other ingredaments, the photo does the justice, just trust me that it was onolicious and worth the price. Plenty parking, come early, eat plenty, support local. Love this place.

One of the best chicken fried steaks we've had! Haupia pancakes are huge and delicious. We came with our family and everyone's food was delicious. Large portions. Friendly service. This is obviously a popular local spot. Definitely adding this to our rotation when we are on big island.

The food was so good! My friend had just ran a marathon and the portions were great. Will definitely return. Wish we came here yesterday. Raynette had the best service, very attentive and helpful with the recommendations. Some guest was also very nice, she literally gave us a gift card for our meal.

Overall I think Hawaiian Style Cafe was a good choice for us to eat brunch. There was a little but of a wait but I signed in on their check-in tablet and 20 minutes later we were seated. The portions are large so be aware of this when ordering. We ordered the Haupia pancakes and BLT w/fries. Prices were fair and the service was good. The interior decor was good, tables clean so no complaints from me.

Again... the food here is so very good. I could've ordered the entire menu (I was stopped, thankfully, from doing that given the size of the entrees). Anywho, a real casual-style stunner here. Great eats... We had the garlic chicken and the Hawaiian plate. Both excellent. Check out the pics- the food quality literally jumps off the screen. The poke, lau lau (my personal fav), and kalua pig all stood out for us. This is another must if you're on the island. Not to be missed...

There's a reason this place always has groups of people outside waiting for a table! Hilo's breakfast game is no joke and Hawaiian Style Cafe is one of the best. Location is great; it's a few minutes away from the airport in the Manono Street Marketplace and within a block of some of the best places to grab gifts and omiyage after (big island candies, atebara chips, lani's island snack shop). I usually come here either after landing in Hilo or before heading to the airport! The marketplace also has its own parking lot so parking isn't an issue. Service is great; the servers and staff are all very pleasant and attentive, often checking to refill drinks during the meal. Came in at 8am and was fortunate enough to get a table without a wait. Their breakfast plates come with rice or hash browns, and either a pancake, Belgian waffle, or toast. I ordered the Kalua Hash and Eggs, which is one of their most popular items (for good reason). Everything tasted delicious and also the portions are very large so you're often able to take leftovers home for another meal. Sometimes when I come for lunch, I'll order a combination meal so I can have leftovers for dinner. Costs are pretty standard, averaging around $15-$20 per dish but the portion sizes make it very much worth the cost. Whenever I have friends visiting Hilo, this place is usually one of the first I will recommend they visit as there's enough items on the menu that there's something for everyone!

Loved this place! Visited with some friends that live nearby. The portion sizes are huge and allow for take out. So many good options to choose from. Friendly staff and lots of locals. They were a bit busy but only had to wait a short while. They let us know only breakfast was being served due to the rush but that was fine for us. Amazing service, good atmosphere, and would definitely return! Super Ono!

When in a new place do as the Yelpers!! So we wanted a good place for breakfast, we looked on yelp and found this place. It's just like the name says, a...Hawaiian Style Cafe. It's a fairly good sized place and very popular. We sat by the door and saw a steady stream of people coming in. Occasionally they had a short wait and names were being called. The menu is fairly complete with all the Hawaiian favorites and there is a large screen TV on the wall near the Host stand, that ran a continuous loop od the specials for the day and desserts Our waiter was Debbie, but the staff helped one another out, so we had several people assisting us. The teamwork is good here. That being said, the service was okay - but not what I would consider excellent. There were several missed opportunities - my toast was forgotten and delivered five minutes after my meal came. My wife's soda was removed to get a refill and never came back. We had to ask for it. So the service is okay. The restaurant itself was very clean and well taken care of. The staff was very friendly. There was someone at the door at all times greeting and seating the guests. The restroom was clean and obviously attended to. I had the seared Ahi & Scrambled Eggs. The Ahi was seared to perfection and very flavorful. The scrambled eggs and hashbrowns were very good too. The toast was good as well. The problem with the food was that it was barely warm. My wife had the Boneless Korean Chicken with white rice and a salad. The chicken was very flavorful and crunchy, the rice was good as well. Unfortunately, her food was about the same temperature as mine. The portion sizes are very generous. The prices are reasonable (It's Hawaii). So Overall it was okay. If I lived here on the Island, I would return. But we're on here in Hilo for five days, and don't plan on visiting any restaurant more than once.

This place has amazing service! Food was also 10/10 so good. The Kalbi tasted amazing as well as the garlic shrimp, and their mac salad is great too. Also enjoyed having their lava cake as a sweet treat after. Also, it's a plus how they give their food to a hog farm afterwords to avoid food waste!! Super thoughtful of them :)

I just moved to Hilo and have been here twice. Try to come early or later as there may be a wait. I've had the chicket cutlet moco and the pork stew. The portions are huge! Both were very tasty. Everyone is very nice and this is a great spot for breakfast and lunch.

I am a native local resident and was extremely disappointed with HSC - Hilo. Pre-order over phone for evening pick up and paid over phone. Went to pick up and order was not ready. In fact was told I have no order . Eventually, they found my order slip and still had to cook my order. And did not receive kim chee that is part ofcthe Korean mix plate. We had to wait for order and had ice-cream in our vehicle. Not having my order ready was our biggest issue. FYI- restaurant was not busy and not many take out orders on counter ledge. Next, I ordered from what "seemed" like their website based from a online search with their name (see pictures) https://hawaiianstylerestaurants.com/hilo-menu#dinner Well it is NOT. Per their manager they have NO WEBSITE and next time i should view menus from Express Waiters to get a closer accurate menu with prices. Or was told to come to restaurant and take a picture of menus but menus may change so I should return and repeat...lol Example: site says deluxe fried saimin $18.95 but paid over $21. Infact all the items we ordered were over $3 more than showing online. Site says Double cheese burger $12.75 but paid over $15. Recipt showed $1 extra for 2 slices of bacon. Manager verified and I was billed correctly and there was no extra take-out charge. She did say that I should have been told my total to be billed after ordering and before running my card. It was not mentioned at all. And they were out of Kim Chee at 5:30pm and we could come back in 2 days get get our kim chee . They were closed the next day. Did I even contemplate driving back from Mountain View for kim chee.... NO! Not sure if lack of taste and portions were due to order being rushed but the food was meh. Lechon was not crispy and not as full as others mentioned. Korean mix plate was not full neither. No family style portions this evening. Son said burger was OK. Luau stew was also okay. No standing ovation this evening. Again a disappointing trip. And questionable business practices.

Hawaiian Style Cafe-Hilo, was recommended by coworker but I didn't have a chance to check it out, til this recent visit, it was on my list to try. So happy we finally did and loved it too! Warning, portions are HUGE, be prepared for kanak attack, Hawaiian Style Cafe does make sure you are well fed before you leave the restaurant, hehe. Mahalo! The lines were long, we put our names on the Yelp list and waited about 20 minutes, popular place! Everyone was observed sitting, chatting, and waiting patiently for a table. There are indoor and outdoor dining. Great for family dining and huge parties out in Hilo, a Hawaiian style cafe feel here! Looking at the menu while we waited for our table, I went with the loco moco plate as it has everything on that plate, I love the different varieties of Loco Moco plate. Hawaiian Style, chicken cutlet, Da Big Mok, Dat Tita Mok, & Mok-A-Saurus. hehe.. I went with the Mok-A-Sauraurus ( fried rice topped with spam, chicken cutle, kalua pork, hamburger patty, two eggs & gravy) All for $18.95. Wow! all this sounds great in a moco. The other half and I enjoyed this plate & was huge portions for 2, we pack the leftovers for when we get hungry at the hotel. The haupia pancakes was OMG- WOW! so moist and so good, I really enjoyed it, so much better than a spot that does pancakes here on the windward side. The pancakes are huge and this haupia one of their popular item. Our waitress and the service received was great, despite how busy this cafe gets. All in all, the other half and I loved our first time experience here and plan to be back when in Hilo again, but next time we will try out the lunch menu. We will be back-Recommend!

We had the bento and the poki bowls, and thought they were just okay. Not anything different from anywhere else in Hawaii. Way too much foods and a bit overpriced. We couldn't finish at all and got tired of the foods.

I went to Hawaiian Style cafe to enjoy another cup of good diner coffee. The last time, I really enjoyed their coffee and had a pretty good breakfast. This time we went early, right as they opened. I was looking forward to having a good loco moco as I have enjoyed in the past in Hilo. First, I got their coffee and it was still good. 3 cups later.. hahahaha - I was enjoying the buzz when my loco moco came. This one had the dark gravy along with onions and hamburger and eggs. It looked pretty decent and quite large. That's when it all went bad. I tasted the gravy and while it looked good, there was no taste. I mean it just had nothing..... I tasted the rice which was ok, and together it wasn't just bland - I mean it had no taste to mention. I thought it was me, so I had my wife taste it and she said it had no taste either. OK. Not me. Then I tried the hamburger and it too was tasteless. I tried salt, shoyu, whatever..... But this was a lousy tasting loco moco. I usually eat anything but this time it wasn't worth my time or money to even finish. My wife mentioned that the loco moco had no taste and the waitress said "we don't put salt in the food because of salt sensitive people". What? So they don't salt/season/put taste in their food? If this is true then why is their home made sausage so good and salty? OK back to the loco moco. I just gave up trying to make it taste good. In a final attempt to say something, I mentioned that the loco loco was really not good and was tasteless when we had a chance to say something. Again, I was told they don't put salt and it was left like that. I told the waitress that they don't have to take it off the bill (she looked like she didn't want to anyway) and I left my loco moco basically uneaten. Only one other time did I eat completely tasteless food and it was a side order at a sushi restaurant. I don't know how you can be a restaurant and make tasteless food. I mean, it's not even a "bad taste" - it's just tasteless. I give two stars because their sausage is good and their coffee is good. But this was the worst loco moco in all my years of eating local loco. I grew up in Hilo, so that's a long time. I immediately went to fix this lousy breakfast and headed straight to K's drive in where they make a delicious loco moco, mac salad, gravy burger and fried rice.

Dish: Haupia Pancake Rating: 10/10 This was hands down the best pancake we've had on the entire island--absolutely perfect! The staff was friendly, and the wait was impressively quick. A must-try for anyone visiting. Highly recommend! It's a huge pancake!!!!

Got here around 620pm on a Thursday night and there was already a wait. They told us 15-20 minutes and we were indeed seated in ~15 mins. During our wait, we strolled through the plaza (mostly everything is closed). I got the Hawaiian loco moco with over easy eggs on the side. Being pregnant, I can't over stuff myself or have to suffer the consequences of being overly full, bloated and reflux. I stopped half way. It was the perfect midnight snack. Anyways, the beef was cooked perfectly with a little char, ask for extra gravy for your left overs! If I needed to make a critique, I say it needed a little salt, but I prefer not enough salt than too much!!! My partner had the mauka/maki - also a great trio sampler. The shrimp was perfectly crisp and the short ribs, yum! (Yes I had a couple bites!).

I visited during Merrie Monarch and was surprised to catch them at a small corner of Manono Marketplace! They have a classic Hawai'i style flavor in a diner to enjoy with friends and family alike - I visited for dinner during the time I went. I ended up getting the Moke-a-saurus, which was HUGE! Came to Hilo today for the farmers market which if you can go it's an experience and very long drive from the other side of the island. First of the waitress duo that had our table which we were seated outside on a Saturday. Btw they are very busy but theirs a reason for that they are good and very patient and nice they explained things to us from the menu like why the Mac salad has tuna in it she was very cool I wish I got her name. We ordered a bunch of food I got an haupia I think that is how you spell it. For us normal ppl from other areas of the world they call that coconut I had it on side it was good the pancake was very good fluffy and lightly toasted they know what they are doing with that. I also got the loco moco with fried rice the meat and gravy was very good it needed some pepper and I would love a lot of onions but I loveee onions the gravy was so tasty with the patties now I let my daughter pick the rice only cause she an expert rice eater and she seemed to like it but I'm not into rice so I could do without it I rather some hash browns under there instead anyway. We also got some garlic chicken and Korean chicken both were very good the only thing I didn't like was that my resort room was very far away and I'm full as @&$#. Now they have an hella wait time and they close at 2pm so you have to get here early so you get a seat but when you get a seat you will enjoy your meal I most definitely would go back if I'm in the area and it's 12pm cause you will need all of that time.

Here's a place in Hilo town that truly deserves a long overdue review on social media. If you've ever driven by this operation on Manono Street and seen a line of people outside waiting to dine for either breakfast, lunch or dinner, after dining here, you'll understand why. Everything about this operation is excellent. It's a well-run, well managed and, well-staffed dining establishment with a genuine team that cares about preparation and delivery to diners like myself. This truly makes the difference here, from the culinary aspect all the way to the front service team and, everyone else that's in-between. Find your favorite item on the menu and order it because, from what I've heard, everything is yummy here. Plus, arrive with a hearty appetite and be ready for large portions. Pair that with an affordable price per dish, and that's the reason why this place is so popular and always crowded with local residents and, visitors alike. My favorite I always order is the 12oz Ribeye Steak breakfast w/ 2 overeasy eggs, hash browns and it also comes with either a Belgium waffle or pancakes, which are huge. The Ahi Poke Nachos, Poke Bowls, Loco Moco items, Lechon plate, their Korean-style Kalbi plate and, the Mento Bento are all worth ordering. You won't be disappointed. The food here is seasoned well, prepared with care and, presented visually appealing. The service here from the front team pairs perfectly with the carefully prepared dishes. All of my visits, I was welcomed with a warm greeting by both the host and my server. Water glasses and beverages are always refilled in a timely manner. Check backs by the service team happens frequently while I'm dining. And, here's where the level of service surpasses other "HOP" places in town. The service at Hawaiian Style Cafe continues all the way till departure and, the check is never dropped directly after the food is delivered. Even though there's always a line outside with diners waiting to get in, the team here does not make you feel rushed and, you don't ever get treated like the table you're sitting on needs to be "turned" for another party. This makes me feel valued here as a customer which I appreciate and, a huge reason why I choose to return to this establishment over others. Delicious food, service that places you, the diner first, and affordable prices paired with generous portions. How could you pass this place up? Take the time to wait for a table or arrive early and trust me, you'll enjoy the care the team places in every aspect that's delivered to you during your entire dining experience. My feelings exactly, an amazing operation that truly deserves their recent Hale 'Aina Award, Hawai'i's most prestigious restaurant award, for "Best Big Island Restaurant".

#22 of 52 (weeks of trying a new restaurant at least once a week) Several of us were flying back to Oahu and wanted breakfast before our flight. One of the people in our group had been here and suggested it and said it was great. They mentioned it gets busy and often has a line so we decided to get there when they opened. We got there about 5 minutes before opening and no lie, there was a line! There were 5 of us and they didn't have room inside so we sat outside which was fine. You can order lunch at breakfast time but I settled on breakfast. The only problem was I wanted everything on the menu. Not a bad problem to have but it was hard to decide on something. Especially since I'd have to fly here from Oahu to eat here again. I finally settled on the Kalua hash meal with eggs over easy, hash browns and a belgian waffle. Most of us got the Mauna Kea Iced Coffee because it looked so good. The iced coffee came out pretty quickly and it was so pretty. I stirred it up and took a drink. It was very delicious. We all mentioned how we really appreciated that it wasn't very sweet. It looked like it would be sweet but it was just the right amount of sweetness. One of the ladies got the same meal I did but she chose pancakes instead of waffles. They brought out her pancakes and they were HUGE! We thought she gave it to the wrong table and then she told us it was the side dish. I don't think most people could even eat that as a whole meal. Our food came out and I started with the hash. It was good but the kalua pork is always so rich. The potatoes balanced it out but then I had hash browns to so it was a heavy potato meal but it was my choice to get the hash browns. The hash browns were nice and crispy which I like. The eggs were also perfect and I mixed it all together and it was nice and creamy from the runny yolk. Thankfully the side of waffle came with one waffle. I enjoyed that the waffle was nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. At the end of the meal most of us had food left over because the portions are generous. No complaints though and I'll definitely be back when I'm in Hilo.

Service was good, food was ono..left filling full & content..no room for dessert.. Korean mixed plate Mento bento A bit much of wasabi mayo but everything was ono!

We went there around 9:30 AM and there were about 8 people waiting for a table. Everything in this clean booth setup diner was the same except there was a Yelp app tablet on a stand for getting on the wait list and texting you when your table is ready. It worked well. I had the Kalua Hash and eggs again with a Belgian waffle this time. I again couldn't get to the waffle after finishing the mains, but this time I had Wifey with me so she could finish it off. The hash was really good with a wonderful smoked pulled pork flavor. This was another repeat.

We did catering through Hawaiian Style for a graduation party. We've eaten here multiple times and their food and service has always been amazing. Their menu doesn't show catering options but after looking through Yelp and other reviews, I found out they are available to cater. We called them and the person in charge of catering stuff is Stephen who was super helpful by giving recommendations and informative about what to get. Their catering menu is pretty much same as their regular menu but you just have to call ~a week in advance so they can discuss prices with you. The order we placed was for 25 people, and 23 showed up at our event. Then we still had lots of leftovers for everyone to take home and for us to bring home. We ordered: steamed white rice, oriental salad (dressing separate because it was cheaper and more convenient for everyone grabbing), Korean chicken, macadamia nut crusted mahi (sauce on the side), kalbi, and kalua pig with cabbage. Everything was wrapped nicely in party Saran Wrap, and foil party pans. We picked it up right at 5 when they reopened again for dinner and parking was fine because they share a fairly large lot with other businesses as well. As for payment, we paid the day of the pickup over the phone. We paid ~$485 including tax for everything. I feel like we got our moneys worth because of the amount of food we got, the quality was great and everyone enjoyed it. Thank you for the yummy food and great service! Saimin was packed with ingredients and the soup was a nice clean broth. Really nice on the rainy day i went but the wonton skins were soggy and fell off the meat when i tried to pick it up. If you get the saimin loaded it comes with kalbi and popcorn shrimp. Its pretty worth it tho I wouldnt say it complements the soup much, they serve it on the side so thats fine. The coconut macadamia nut pancakes are HUGE. It comes in a pair. It's such a hardy meal, I don't think I could finish the plate myself.

I called to do a take out - take note - when calling in a take out , you must have a CC on hand for they will take your payment with your phone order . They'll take cash only if you're ordering in person . Ordered a Hawaiian Kalua Nachos . Person taking order was very nice and said would be ready in 15-20 mins. Arrived there 15 mins after ordering . My order was already there waiting for me . Got my receipt , and went on my merry way . Thought in my head plate wasnt too hot to hold . Drove down the street to enjoy the meal at the park over looking the ocean . Was quite disappointed that the nachos was already really cold to the touch . Did they give me an earlier order that maybe wasn't picked up ? My friend was already digging in ( guess he was really hungry !) It looked delish , noticed there's not any kind of sauce on it . So I dug into it . I must say it was OKAY nothing fabulous - in fact , it was quite dry & bland & chips were already getting soft . I really wish they had some kind of nacho sauce on it . It may have been a bit better . So for $17.75 ... I dnt think it was really worth it . What dissatisfied me the most was it not being freshly hot when I picked it up - maybe I should've been there 10 mins after I ordered ‍ ... Also I've had it in the past ( years ago tho') and I remembered loving it back than . Did they make any change in it over the years or had my taste bud changed ? maybe eliminating some kind of sauce on it or something ? Wont be ordering Kalua Nachos again from here. Maybe next time I'll try their Lechon , Tripe or Hawn. Luau stew plate ....They do have a huge local food menu to choose from . Ambiance was open air and busy inside and also on the outside tables . It's always a busy place even on a Sunday ! Therefore I do have hope that one day , I will find me one thing or two that I'll enjoy from their menu Aloha

Love this place. Feels like your standard Hawaiian Diner all the good breakfast vibes. Was able to get seated right away. The service was amazing and the food was even better. My steak couldn't have been a more perfect medium rare. I'll def be back

Looking for ultimate Hawaiian food experience. This is the place to be. Service is top notch. Nice restaurant with ultimate Hawaiian flare. Trust the servers they know the best. Listen to them you will thank them later. If you're in big island and Hilo side, this establishment is a must try.

Came here the day before to find a 30mins wait so we ventured elsewhere. Returned the following day and boy thank god we did. Came just as it opened and was able to get us a seat with no problem. Once we sat down we ordered our breakfast... 2 volcano omelette's and a local pork hash with sunny side up eggs. Oh and did we say this came with a side order of pancakes. All I need to say is look at the photo. But wait we saw they had an ube milkshake. Boy was that something to take this over the top. Truly amazing... would love to come again soon.

Amazing lunch. We had the Hawaiian lunch special and it was delicious. The Kailua pork is fabulous, perfectly seasoned. Squid Lau Lau is the best I've had and for the first time ever I liked the poi. The service people we also great. They were lovely to us and had great suggestions. It's a great little diner, very clean. I heartily recommend stopping by for lunch, especially if you can make it on a Friday.

At first I was skeptical coming into the restaurant. My husband wanted pancakes, and breakfast. I knew my son wanted noodles, and I love poke. Who knew this restaurant had everything we wanted to eat. This has large portions and wonderful flavors The service was prompt and kind. We didn't wait long. Thank you all for excellent food and service.

We tried this gem for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We arrived soon after their opening just in case it gets packed on a Sunday morning. They have a very large indoor dining area and a small outdoor one. They offered the outdoor seating and added that no alcohol is served outside. Worked for us. There was room to seat about 18 people outside. Staff here were all very professional and efficient. They even had decaffeinated coffee, which was something did not often found available. We decided on a Hawaiian Style loco moco and a Hawaiian Style siamin. Both items came out pretty quickly. We chose brown rice and over easy eggs for the loco moco. The tasty gravy combined with the soft egg made for super umami sauce for the nicely crusted burger. It's a lot of food, but we did our best. The homemade dashi in the saimin was flavorful and the noodles had a nice chew. I prefer noodle soups with more veggies. That isn't how typical saimins are, but that's okay. The toppings were good. I couldn't eat all the noodles, but I didn't waste the broth. We'd definitely come back the next time we're in Hilo. It's great that they are open later. Later being past 7pm! With their big menu, there are choices for everyone.

This is a really popular cafe that's great for families and big groups. Head towards the front register to get on their yelp waitlist. The booth we sat in was roomy and the table was large enough for the big plates they have for the huge portions of food. Their loco mocos are generous. The mok-a-saurus is enough for 2 people to share if you're not starving. They serve mimosas too and I ordered mine with the POG juice. We dined here 2 years ago and we'll keep coming back again.

Got here at 5:20 on a Thursday and there was no wait! Earlier in the week at 7:00 has a 45 min wait. I got the beef stew and it was exactly what I wanted. Homey and hearty stew. It was a huge portion and I took half home to go. Friendly staff. Would recommend coming here! Huge parking lot in a plaza with other restaurants.

We walked in, put ourselves on the waitlist tablet - got called ahead of the estimated time even on a busy Veterans Day breakfast rush! I don't think we've ever gotten food so quickly! Literally I think it was like 4 minutes! We got the punalu'u french toast and kalua hash with fried rice and haupia pancake upgrade... BROKE DA MOUTH! Portions were huge, well worth the reasonable price tag! Our server, Raynette, was super efficient and anticipated everything we could have wanted! Mahalo!!! We be back!

I love Hawaiian Style as you're getting both the good service and good food. They're typically busy so if you're thinking about coming here I would either make a reservation or avoid morning hours. I use to come here a lot in previous years but they took off my favorite thing on the menu which was the "kalua pork quesadilla". I was actually devastated so I haven't been back recently. The last time I came I ordered the "kalua hash" and it was ONO! Everything on the menu is killer so I'm not surprised. However, they have all the local grinds you can imagine and huge portions. I just remember the side order of pancakes being bigger than your face. If you wanna eat tasty local food and lunch plates come here!

Hawaiian brunch just hits different and can never be the same when I go back to the mainland. First thing when landing to the Big Island we grabbed brunch. I ordered the mento bento. It was everything you want in a bento but better. I loved the Kalbi. It was so soft and tender. It also had tamagoyaki, spam, chicken katsu and poke with fried rice and Mac salad. The fried rice upgrade was a nice touch. It was a very big meal and nearly finished 3/4 of it. I also had the best French fries. Don't know what they did but it TASTED AMAZING. I still remember how crispy and delicious they were. My cousins and I were saying that was the most memorable item we ate at the restaurant. If I ever come back to the Big Island then I will definitely come back here and show my bf. He would definitely love this. We waited a bit but the servers did an amazing job in getting our orders and food served. We had a big party so I'm glad they could accommodate us. 8.9/10. Would come again and try the many other popular food items.

Husbands choice. We got Hawaiian style loco moco, ahi poke nachos and chicken fried steak. Food was super ono. Service was fast. And it's a relaxed happy atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

I went here for dinner. I tried the lamb ribs, baked potato and side salad. The ribs didn't have much meat at all. I requested medium well but half of them were medium rare and they weren't tender. The service was good though.
