Love Hampden! My wife and I visit every time we're in Charleston and all the employees are always very welcoming. I've also ordered items online for my wife with the assistance of Brittany, who is great to work with! Highly recommend.

I’ve never reviewed a clothing store before, but this place is absolutely AMAZING. Broad price points and a diverse collection of really amazing pieces (ranging from statement to staple). Definitely check it out!

I bought a beautiful JW Anderson Chain bag online and on sale-final sale/no returns. I'm ok with that but I'm not ok not being informed that there was an obvious defect in this bag. The magnetic closure is flawed-both sides of the magnet face each other so of course, it will not close. Now, again, I purchased something online knowing full well that it's a final sale but I should have been able to make a more informed decision knowing the closure is a failure. I'm going to have to take this beautiful and somewhat expensive bag, to a cobbler for repairs. Since the bag is in essence a tote and having just this magnet to close the bag, it must be a working tab closure. The customer service that I received (excluding not informing me the bag is defective) was stellar but I feel that it was flawed, resulting in a 3 star rating when it could have been a 5 star rating.

First off we had two different experiences at this store. The first day we went everyone, literally everyone, we talked to was super helpful and friendly. We spent a good amount of money our first trip. My girlfriend wanted to go back a few days later to try on some more items. This trip was absolutely horrible. The staff completely ignored us the second visit. We asked multiple staff members for assistance and they assured us they would help. But 20 minutes later, each staff member we had talked to had forgotten about us. Leaving us standing in a corner looking awkward as hell as they walked by. The store is fun and has a wide variety of products but the consistency in service needs to be better. Especially when you consider how much customers spend. We may try and go back but for now, we won’t.

The staff were so friendly. It was a spectacularly curated selection of high end designers. I spent a lot of time looking through their wide range of offerings.

I purchased a cute R13 dress in the website, unfortunately then I found NORSTROM.com has went down the price much more for the same dress with all sizes available before I actually received the package from Hampden website. I emailed to ask for price matching, the lady who responded me with no hesitation nor any hard time to me but simply processed to refund the difference to me directly. The package arrived to me on time and the dress fits and looks both nicely. It’s even better the lady updated me they offer free shipping both domestically and internationally outside of states. This is hands down the best and the largest boutique store I have ever been to in my life. We spent almost an entire day in here, bought lots of clothing. The selection is insane. I think it can rival any Nordstrom / Bloomingdales in large cities. You will see many clothes just hanging on circular racks in the back that still cost $1k, which is insane. In a normal boutique these will be front and center. Just showing you the scale and selection of this place. The staffing is extremely friendly and helpful. I cannot recommend this place enough. We got the website now and will be ordering online in the future since we don't live there.

I had a really negative experience in the store a few weeks ago. On top of not being greeted by a single person until I asked to look at something, I fell in love with a bracelet and took it to the register to purchase. The girl told me it was mis marked from $250 and should have been $2,500. I asked if there was anything that they could do as this was clearly their error and they didn't. Overall really negative experience and will not be returning.

I go shopping on King Street annually (at least?), and this is one of the few stores that I happen to revisit regularly. On my recent stroll through King Street, I spent some time in this store because of their cute shoe collection...though some unreasonable priced lol. I didn't find any bags or clothes that were super-appealing to me on this particular day, but they had an interesting collection. I thought the store itself looked a bit out of sorts (possibly because of the heavy crowd that day?), but reps were very friendly and helpful. And Yes, all the stores on King Street were practicing Covid safety with mask mandates. The thing that bothered me with this, as well as many other stores on King Street, was that the A/C wasn't on (or at least down low enough?). It could be that all the Owners are coping with the pandemic losses...or maybe they tend to go sans A/C during May (??). I can't recall if A/C was an issue around this time in the years prior to the pandemic. In any case, it made shopping inside these store somewhat unbearable. Honestly, I could have spent more time in here if the A/C was on (higher).

Hampden is EXTRA. The store is packed with beautiful clothes and just when you think you've reached the end of it, another room opens up. Signs point you in the direction of "don't give up now- there's more stuff around this corner!" It's endless! The staff is beyond friendly. Every room I entered another person offered to help me find something, get me a drink (a drink?!), and even enthusiastically let me use the bathroom. People in Charleston are nice, but maybe this is where they hoard the nicest people in town and keep them all in one place to help outfit your wardrobe? I even got a very boisterous compliment while descending the stairs from a stranger saying how incredibly stylish I was. My first thought as a New Yorker was, "I don't know you and I think you think I'm somebody else". But no, it was just the owner saying hello and making me feel good, as I discovered in the many press tear outs as I left the store. Oh and the snacks. There are snacks. And champagne. I don't know if this is just a Friday thing or if this could also be like an everyday thing, but there were legit snacks and drinks for whatever reason as I shopped. And I loved every second of it. Oh and the shoes are good. Like real good.

LOVE this adorable boutique. Sales associates were so lovely and not pressuring at all. Masks were worn by all salespeople which we found to be rare in the area and was much appreciated. Clothing errs on the higher end side ($200-400+) but are high-quality brands you wouldn't find at a department store. Lots of unique pieces if you're looking for a designer splurge or special occasion item.

The most important thing to note is that they have a section with a tv and beer for the men who do not want to shop. What a win! The ladies were lovely! I got the cutest pair of Alexandre Birman pumps for 1/2 off which I immediately wore that night. Overall the store is really pricey (ie a sweatshirt for $750) but you can find some good stuff on the sale racks which are abundant. So glad I put it on my shopping list for our weekend getaway!

Amazing staff! Special thank you to Kate who was more than a sales associate but helped with the right items and sizes for me! Also, Kate followed up with me after leaving Charleston! No wonder they have a loyal following- well, co super me another loyal customer! And the items and designer names they carry are the best Thank you Kate and Hampden!

Me & I my friends were so excited to visit this store and were extremely surprised how bad the customer service was. We were not greeted as we walked in and were completely ignored when prompts were given about certain items.... Disappointing to say the least. After being mistreated; we all knew it was time to take our businesses elsewhere!!!!

Beautiful selection of items from shoes to bags to jewelry to clothing. I could spend a whole day here. And a whole paycheck!! Megan was so helpful and sweet. She offered us complementary drinks and was so attentive. Recommended for anyone looking for a fun and bougie shopping experience!

This is a beautiful clothing store for the modern woman with a penchant for on trend designer outfits. The staff were super nice & friendly. Not pushy at all. Will definitely return here for that special outfit. They have a broad range of designer clothes all racked per designer. Loved it.

Really disappointing online ordering experience via Lyst. I specifically verified the return policy because the item was expensive and saw that it was returnable (see screenshot: http://imgur.com/gEMq2Zl). When I received the dress I wasn't happy with it so I called the store to return it. They immediately told me their sale policy was no returns. I spoke with three different people, sent them the screenshot, and the manager was adamant there was no way I could think they allowed returns. Not only that but she was shrill and unpleasant about it, like I was trying to pull a fast one on them, and finally suggested I try to sell the dress since she wasn't having it back. So, word to the wise: don't shop here.

Update: finally got a response because I sent a follow up. They had "forgotten" to process the refund. My experience from beginning to end has been abysmal. I have now spent hours trying to track them down via phone and email, first to find the dress and now just to get my money back. Most of my emails are ignored. There are way too many online retailers out there with great customer service to waste your time dealing with Hampden.

I ordered from Hampden via Farfetch. Terribly disappointed. I ordered a pair of Rachel Comey pants in a specific cut. They sent the wrong pair of pants, a pair that was on sale for $150 less. I'm not sure if they are careless or deceitful but I will not shop here again.

I visited Hampden Clothing in the beginning of january while on a quick weekend trip to Charleston from NYC. My immediate reaction was that this boutique actually had more to offer than any of the SoHo boutiques i was used to, and with better service to boot. I spent about an hour trying on some great dresses and skirts while the store clerk kept bringing me options to try. Unfortunately i wasn't able to buy anything that day. I've been dreaming about a skirt i saw there and went to the ecommerce site (http://hampdenclothing.com/) today to see that it was on sale! There ya go... soup to nuts... my experience was fantastic! i am taking one star off cause the ecommerce site is just a bit wonky and not really user intuitive but i'm sure they'll get the hang of it!

For a while there, it started looking like King Street was doomed to become a generic outdoor mall. But thanks to boutiques like Hampden Clothing, we've been spared! This store is the epitome of class. It's a haven for Tracey Reese dresses and AOKI jeans. When I grow up, I will have a Travis shoulder bag. Be sure to check this place out for Charleston's fashion week. Just writing that makes me giddy!

This store is a little slice of heaven! Everything in it is so beautiful, I wish I lived in the area! The selection of emerging designers to well established brands is great.

What a fantastic high-end boutique! The owner is very friendly, and neither she nor the employees were in any way pretentious or snobby (which I sometimes encounter in nice boutiques, unfortunately). They carry the entire Rag and Bone line, all seasons, runway, shoes, everything, which is very unusual. Other brands I saw include Alexander Wang, Derek Lam, Helmut Lang, Tibi and Thakoon. The shoe selection is small but totally worth checking out.

If you are looking for a high-end boutique, go to Hampden. I have been going to Charleston for 9 years now and Hampden is by far one of the best shops in town.

I love this store. I live on Chicago but shop online here ofte. Dara is great, their shipping is always free and very very fast. Plus tax free! Great selection, great service. A+ Boutique all the way!
