Gunpowder's new Soho outpost serves up modern Indian delights in a chic space, featuring must-try lamb chops and inventive regional dishes that'll keep you coming back.
"We’re not trying to panic anyone, but if you haven’t tried Gunpowder’s ‘special’ mince pie doughnut then you’re getting dangerously close to finishing the year without experiencing it. They’ve got a history of making excellent doughnuts, and this particular one is fried, rolled in cinnamon sugar, then filled with custard and mince meat, and gold flakes, because… Christmas. Head to their new Soho restaurant to get your fancy mince pie fix." - heidi lauth beasley
"We love their original Spitalfields location so it’s no surprise that this Soho restaurant was among favourite new spots this year. Expect excellent lamb chops, and a mutton roll you’ll want to order about 50 of." - jake missing, rianne shlebak
"If you haven’t already tried Gunpowder’s Spitalfields or Tower Bridge locations because your friends don’t like to venture outside of central, then you’re in for a real treat. And a way to prove to them that there’s life outside of W1. But, back to their brand new Soho spot, there's nice little dining room has red booths, a private area, and a menu of modern Indian that will make you question if you’ve ever really eaten a lamb chop before. Because yes, the lamb chops here are juicy, tender, excellent creations. As is the mutton roll—perfectly spiced minced meat in a pastry parcel—that you’ll want to order another five of after your first bite. It’s as great a spot for dinner with family or friends, as it is a long, satisfying lunch." - Jake Oliver, Rianne Shlebak
"Gunpowder’s original Spitalfields location taught us that some lamb chops are worth clocking out early and travelling across the city for. And their Soho location isn’t any different. Except that it’s in Soho, and rather than exposed brick, there’s gold detailing, a heavy curtain that leads to a private dining area, and a few menu items that you’ll come specifically to this branch for. Yes, mutton roll, we’re talking about you. An essential order, it’s spiced minced meat in a little pastry parcel, that you’ll want to order another five of after your first bite. But don’t, because there’s a whole lot more on this menu that you should try. It’s a great spot for dinner with a group of friends, or a long, satisfying lunch." - Rianne Shlebak
"Modern Indian spot Gunpowder has opened a new location in Soho so you’ll want to get down there pronto. Seriously, chop chop. If you’re wondering why then you obviously haven’t had an evening with their famous Kashmiri lamb chops. Needless to say, they’re a favourite on our absolutely-not-niche-at-all guide to Lamb Chops You Should Be Eating Right Now." - Heidi Lauth Beasley, Jake Oliver
