"Christmastime in Vienna Vienna lights up with the warm glow of the Christmas season. Twenty official Advent Markets can be found throughout the city selling seasonal gifts, crafts and sweets, from City Hall to Maria-Theresien Platz to Schönbrunn Palace. Streets throughout the city, like Graben in the first district, are illuminated with hanging lights."

Yelp
It's fun to walk in this wide pedestrian-only street, imagining it as a moat in Roman times. Enjoy a detour into Dorotheergasse leading to Buffet Trzesniewski and Cafe Hawelka. In the middle of the Graben is the impressive plague column, which looks like clouds of whipped cream and cherubim topped by gold. In 1679, a third of the population of Vienna was lost to the plague, and Emperor Leopold prayed for his city. You can see Leopold and a cross in the column, and a figure of a naked woman, the plague, being cast away. Close to this monument is St. Peter's Church, an absolute gem.

Yelp
The cream of the crop when your strolling around Vienna 1st District. The area has all the fancy designer shops, restaurants, monuments and retail stores. The street really comes alive during the summer and winters months, due to all the attractions its presents. The street also has fountains and some of the priciest apartments in Vienna.
