"Götubarinn—the name simply means "Street Bar"—is one of Akureyri’s friendliest and most atmospheric local pubs. Located in the heart of the city, it features cozy nooks for intimate conversations, a quirky interior design that includes old street signs and a piano that plays a central role in the bar’s occasional sing-alongs."

This bar is so much fun! Every single person who works here is really cool. I was here a little over a year ago, and I was probably in there almost every single day that I was in town which was about 3 weeks. The bartenders are really nice, the crowd is of the nicest crowds of people I have ever encountered consistently, and it is extremely spacious. There is a cool, outside patio, a main bar area, a separate room with separate bar (bar open when it's busy), and a couple of pianos. They have Fernet, Opal, Tópas, and a ton of other offerings. They have a decent selection of beer on draft too. (The only reason I listed kr 20.000 was because I was there a lot, hahaha. They have happy hour.) I hope to get back there as soon as possible to hang out with everyone again. 10/10

The bar with a memorable and non-standard design. You can find both cozy corners with dim lighting and more open spaces. The interior details create a sense that the bar has its own history and personality. Guinness lovers, as well as those who appreciate an original atmosphere, might find this place appealing.

Great bar, well really the only true bar in Akureyri. That does not take away from the amazing staff and people. Great selection of beer, somewhat expensive, but all beer is in Akureyri (not their fault). This was a great place to people watch, meet friends, tie one on, meet strangers, sing with strangers at the piano, get told I was "not that old" and that was before the students hit the place. The ENTIRE CITY comes in around 10pm on a Friday or Saturday night. I had a blast and went back several times. I recommend it greatly.

The bartender saw me entering and still kept talking to his friends at the bar and they had to tell him to take care of me I asked for a whiskey sour and there was no measuring, so as expected I only taste lemon 🤮 Decoration of the place is nice but this kind of service kills the atmosphere

This is where the local 18 year old (I swear there were 12yos in there) farm boys go to flirt with each other. Unless you can speak icelantic, have a justin beiner haircut, and are no older than 18, this is not a cool or welcoming place to be. They'll also charge you more than the locals.

A superb locals’ pub with a great selection of drinks, but above all, amazingly friendly barmen.

Had a good environment but was very empty when I was there. Went down to the backpackers down the street instead which was full
