When I went to Goldfish market every time, i seen that the goldfish is trapped in a small plastic bag and only provided a limited air, my feeling was not very good. This kind of selling method has a room to provide.

Alot of pets shops surrounding, quite a nice place to shop but not in hot weather. Too hot during sunset time in HK.

Right behind the cha chaan teng we visited, we found ourselves on a street often mentioned in Hong Kong dramas and movies. This street hosts two rows of pet stores. One of the shops caught our attention with its display of beautiful pet shrimp which we quite enjoy.

If you're in the mood for some tropical fish and a few fish oddities, this is the street browse (beware no photography is allowed). You can find just about anything that takes your fancy, although quite a selection will be is plastic bags to be displayed to attract passersby.

Interesting to see. Some shops were much better than others in terms of how they treated the fish and turtles. If you like fish come here (although don’t if you don’t like them in smallish bags)

It’s a really cool place! Selling various kinds of animals. Not only goldfish, but also some dogs, cats and reptiles can be find in the stores here.

OK, let me try to explain why I only have given 3 stars. First in all I was amazed how the people are fascinated about the way they look at the fishes and how they take response of having fishes. All the aquarium and plastic bags filled with little water with one or two fishes in it. Seeing all those sweet water fishes I could believe that they are from fish farms. So far so good. But as seeing the saltwater shops I saw fishes in many shapes and sizes what are not from fishing farms. Also seeing all kind of big living coral I hardly can believe that they where not taken from the coral reef, and for me that is definitely not OK. I saw many big dead corals for aquarium in perfect shape. That people think it is nice to have a coral reef in the living room even when when this means to destroy the environment and nature, this should be prevented. Also in this area there are some animal shops selling turtles in every size you need or want. Hardly to believe that some of the 50 year's or older ones have been grown up in farms!! Snakes, Lizards and all sorts of animals you can buy there. PS. I am posting this not to judge over anyone, but maybe looking at this place a little bit self-critical can help to safe our environment and nature.

Funny to see but all shops indicated that no photos are allowed… like why being so unfriendly… as if tourists gonna purchase a goldfish and travel the world around with it..
