"At this Sherman Oaks café, there are classic sandwiches (BLT, club, Philly cheese, etc), and there are artisanal grilled cheeses, of which the spicy short-rib option is the standout. Tender pulled short ribs serve as the base for grilled onions and peppers, and melted jack cheese—all made even better with a substantial kick of spicy aioli. All in all, a favorite in the Valley. "

The perfect brunch spot! I went with a few friends, and we all absolutely loved our dishes. I tried the Short Rib Eggs Benedict and The Golden Cowboy—let’s just say the short rib is to die for! Every bite was packed with flavor. The atmosphere was just as amazing—calm, spacious, and perfect for a relaxed brunch. We sat on the patio and had such a great time catching up over delicious food. The only downside was parking—it was a bit difficult since the lot is small and was already full on a Saturday morning. But honestly, the food and experience were well worth it! Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for great brunch, great vibes, and a great experience! Can’t wait to come back. ☕

This place is the perfect brunch spot and place to work! The atmosphere is beautiful with the flowers and outdoor patio! Enjoy their 3 mimosas for $15 with any meal you get! I love the Truffle Fries!!

An unassuming restaurant in Sherman Oaks. Quiet, chill, and rustic. It's a great place to bring your dog. On the night we went, there was a small band playing and singing. Some songs were better than others, but it added ambiance. It seemed like a lot of people were regulars. The biggest downside was that it took over half an hour for our two dishes to be served. (Neither should have been complicated, a veggie burger and another sandwich.) The sweet potato fries were very good. The table next to ours wasn't cleaned the entire time we sat there.

I found this café through a Google search, and the reviews looked promising, so decided to give it a try. There’s a small parking area out front, which is free. The place itself is super cute with the perfect cosy vibe, almost like a little Parisian café. I wanted to try something different and went for the Chilaquiles, and they were absolutely amazing. The flavours were a 10/10, and the portion was huge. My boyfriend had the breakfast burrito and really enjoyed his too. The staff were so friendly, which made the experience even better. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in LA, and I highly recommend this place to anyone thinking about visiting!

Went there for a late lunch, and the food did not disappoint. We ordered the spicy short rib grilled cheese, the mac n chees with bacon, and the pesto chicken quesadia. Topped that off with their red velvet cookie made with a strawberry jelly, arguably the best cookie I've ever had. Washed it down with a rose tea that was not too sweet but had a refreshing rosy flavor. Maybe not your cup of tea, but that day it certainly was mine. No pun intended. The ambiance was beautiful it felt like you were in another part of the world with its outside dining area covered over head with vegetation. If you are in the Sherman Oaks area or in LA, for that matter. I would recommend this place to you all. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars across the board is because once you reach the peak, it's nothing but downhill from there, and they are certainly not a downhill trajectory. Great spot, fantastic food.

The outdoor ambiance is lovely, and the service was attentive. The salad was okay, the pasta was tasty. I’ll definitely return to try more dishes.

Stop in here during my delivery route pretty often. Fast service, amazing food. Would be a great date spot, but then I'd have to let other people in on my secret lunch place.

Google
Good spot to take family/ friends for breakfast or lunch. The prices are pretty high but the atmosphere is really nice. Really nice inside and outdoors, shaded area surrounded by trees. The food was good, some of their dishes were bland but most were very tasty. The service was decent, staff was polite. Overall a good experience, might have to check it out for dinner!

Yelp
We really enjoy coming here, especially when we aim to get work done. It is a nice spot with comfortable seating, a clean room, a couple outlets, and ample parking. The place is tucked away and always has great ambience. I like getting the Iced Café Latte with almond milk and the massive M&M cookie they sell in addition to the sandwiches and pasta. For the pasta, I like ordering the Pesto Pasta, which can be made with linguine or penne and topped with Parmesan cheese. It is also served with a side of garlic toast. The avocado toast is good as well and contains 2 pieces of sourdough toast topped with avocado, onion, arugula, tomato, pepper, salt, and tossed with sweet lemon olive oil. This is good as well and continuously hits the spot!

Yelp
Such a cute hidden gem in the SO neighborhood. A perfect lunch spot for anyone looking to catch up with some friends and find a serene garden vibe within the bustle of the city. The ladies at the counter were really nice and the staff were very attentive, checking on us periodically and clearing our plates as soon as we were finished. I got the chicken kebob wrap which came with a side of your choice - I got the potato salad. Also got an iced latte with oat milk. Everything was fresh and delicious. Coffee was great, too - they use Lavazza. Will definitely come back!

Mom3 L.

Yelp
The 2 stars are solely for the attitude and unfriendliness of the server. She had long dark hair with a red flower. Completely detached from her position. Made us feel unwelcome and more like an interruption instead of paying customers. I would love to come back only if she wasn't working there. Try smiling! At least fake like we are welcomed there! She has the personality of a dead dried-up fish. The margarita pizza was very good.

Yelp
Craving a healthy salad with tender juicy chicken. Then Garden cafe is the place. I have been craving a Caesar salad lately and have remembered this place. This is my second time getting the "Kicked up kale Caesar" (Romaine hearts, kale, shaved Parmesan with homemade garlic and rosemary croutons, tossed in our Caesar dressing.) Chicken is an additional charge but so worth it. Very tender and juicy. Don't be surprised when you eat them all up quick. Portion size is perfect for a hungry appetite as it is pretty large and will keep you full most of the day. Leaving your body feeling good and satisfied. Service was great and quick bringing out the food. So far garden cafe is my favorite place for a delicious Caesar salad.

Yelp
It's nice but could be nicer. The overall atmosphere was pleasant and they have delicious large cookies that are great! However, I was dissapointed with the pouched egg over ham on an english muffin. I couldn't eat it. However, my hubby's sandwhich looked and tasted amazing. He ordered the BLT Club! so yummy

Darylynn D.

Yelp
I came on a Sunday after mass and I had the Golden Cowboy Sandwich with a side of macaroni salad. The sandwich comes with egg, pulled pork and chipotle aioli. Macaroni salad isn't typically offered at cafes so I HAD to get it here. I'll have to try the potato salad next time. There is plenty of outdoor, indoor seating and is perfect for big and small groups. They have sandwiches, breakfast, mimosas, pizza and a lot more. You order at the front and your food is brought out to you when it is ready. They have parking however, the parking lot is very small.

Karla V.

Yelp
It was our first time at Garden Cafe, we ordered the cowboy breakfast sandwich, the banana french toast and eggs n turkey bacon. My favorite was the french toast it was delish! The eggs and bacon were yummy too. The breakfast sandwich had a layer of some kind of mayo, I don't like mayo on my eggs and the brisket was a little dry and over cooked, also it was too salty! Service was ok, I don't understand why they don't have servers taking your order. The ambiance was phenomenal, there was a live guitar player who was phenomenal!!! They have a really nice beer and wine selection!

Tanya N.

Yelp
Loved this little restaurant tucked away. Although it's on a busy street they have made it a place that feels exclusive. The service is great and the food is delicious! The prices are on the higher end but the portions make it worth it. They have a bar as well! Highly recommend. No reservations accepted and you order at the counter and then find a table, there is a possibility that you need to share the table. But great opportunity to make new connections. I ordered the Chinese salad and I would have preferred to have half the dressing be added but that's on me for not asking dressing on the side. There was also live music that started at 6pm on a Thursday evening, a bonus treat!

Yelp
A great menu, with plenty of choices and decent amount of food for the price being paid. I had the Clubhouse Burger with steak fries. Perfectly made and so darn tasty. Flame grilled and not overcooked. The staff was really nice, they offered free Arnold Palmer refills. Clean place and would return here. It's tucked back and a little tough to find, as it is set back a little. The outdoor area is really pretty and the inside is laid out well. Clean bathrooms also!!! Thanks!!!!

Yelp
The outdoor ambiance is lovely, and the service was attentive. The salad was okay, the pasta was tasty. I'll definitely return to try more dishes.

Yelp
This is a great spot to bring your laptop and get some work done. There is practically everything on this menu, and you order at the counter. (I do find it pricey for this kind of casual set up) The staff is friendly and they leave you alone once you order. The ambiance is sort of like the inside of an Olive Garden, which somehow works for me. The outside is super cute and nicely lit. I come here often and I will be back for remote work.

Yelp
Not sure why it's taken me so many years to try this place. Maybe it's because it's quite literally a hidden gem. Right off Ventura and Woodman but slightly hidden, pushed back behind a parking lot, walking into this place takes me to Tuscany, Italy with its cute garden aesthetic accompanied by a matching playlist. We ventured here on a Monday around 7pm. There were only a few people inside. We ordered at the counter and sat on the patio. The gentleman who took our order and the one who made our drinks at the small side bar were so polite and welcoming. They even moved heaters for us to a table of our choice outside since it was a chilly night. Though pricy for a glass of wine at around $17, it was more like 2 glasses thanks to the man's generous pour. No complaints! I haven't had decent crab cakes in years and these were amazing!!! Loved every bite and wanted seconds. The short rib grilled cheese was my next fave along with the Caesar salad and lastly eggplant parm. Everything was delicious. Service excellent. And Tuscany, Italy vibe with a glass of wine made this a perfect night. Can't wait to return and try more!!!

Marjan N.

Yelp
A beautiful seculed restaurant tucked away off of Woodman Blvd. Casual dinning serving beer, wine and "All American" cuisine. Indoor and garden setting with a very relaxed vibe. You order at the counter and food is served at the table. Easy! Whether your craving salad, pizza, burgers, mac 'n cheese, or blt, there is a little something to please everyone. We ordered the margherita pizza and short rib cheese sandwich. Both very delicious and paired well with our bottle of Melbec wine. Friendly and courteous service which made our experience even more enjoyable. No rush to leave and all the time to relax and enjoy delicious food and surroundings.

Yelp
Use to come here years and recently came for dinner. First off, the prices have sky rocketed insane!! 3 people $80 easily!!!! They were empty and the wait was about 35 minutes for the food, which was so unlike them. They had a loud band outside playing and had all the doors open so no matter where u sat, even inside , u couldn't talk because the band was so loud. Our pizza came Out cold and everything else was OK. So disappointed as I use to love this place . Will not be coming back.

Yelp
Ok, the ambiance is not fancy, BUT, the food is amazing! Amazing pizza , amazing salmon, and amazing pasta primavera. Don't pay attention to the Mom3L who annonimously criticizes the waitress with the flower. She must be jealous! lol. Anyway, not fancy at all but surprisingly good! I'm eating the pizza leftovers a day after and can't stop. I love the fact that they don't have bacground music or screens! Keep it like this please!

Misty G.

Yelp
First time here and plan to return. The parking lot is small but we went on a Monday right at 5 o'clock and didn't have a problem. There is lots of seating and plenty of space in a pleasant atmosphere . We were greeted immediately with a warm welcome and she helped me make up my mind. The food was delicious and the beer was great! I loved the salmon burger with skinny fries just the way I like 'em.

Yelp
I recently bought my condo and moved walking distance to the Garden Cafe. What a serene, beautiful, festive and delicious neighborhood gem. It's feels like you've entered the secret garden, and are staying for a yummy dinner. We ordered the Primavera Pasta and the Chicken kabobs. The portions are enormous and the food super yummy. We sat in the very large outdoors patio area, relaxed like being on a couch; while twinkle lights and flowers hung overhead and a band played Bossa Nova. They have cozy heat lamps as well. Such a zen and beautiful atmosphere. Parking is eassyyy peaazzzy, drive in and park. I hope to visit more frequently in the near future. It's def my favorite spot here in Sherman Oaks to dine in; esp if you're a nature girl. What a treat and I'll be back, thank you. :)

Yelp
The food and ambiance was superb. And service was excellent The beet salad was fresh and delicious. My friends ordered the Mac and cheese with braised short was sublime

Netia B.

Yelp
Pricing and portions are decent. I absolutely loved the decor here both inside and out. I 100% recommend sitting outside if the weather permits it because it is so nice enjoying an iced drink under the breezy vines.

Kevin Y.

Yelp
It's a nice little cafe where people can work and have a coffee or sandwich. But the avocado toast I got came on a pretty floppy bread which didn't feel very toasty and was quite pricy too.

Manish D.

Yelp
Great quiet ambiance. Food variety is excellent. Courteous staff. Clean place. Had the roasted beet salad with salmon and it was beautifully served... well balanced with very good flavor.

Cristina A.

Yelp
We've been to Garden Cafe before for breakfast so we decided to try the dinner menu. We were early, only 3 other early diners. Placed our order at the counter and had our choice of tables inside or outside. Weather was nice so we found a cute spot in the corner. Love the garden setting which makes you ignore the busy street noises. The food was all good - juicy grilled chicken kebabs, solid grilled cheese with tomato soup, yummy crab cakes with salad. Also had the truffle arugula fries. Didn't know the fries were wedge which we didn't prefer and it could've used more cheese. Our food came a little later even though it wasn't crowded. And the drinks we had to remind the waiter.

Winn H.

Yelp
TLDR: Price, parking, pasta, coffee? No thanks. Ambiance and environment? Yes! - - - - - - Parking for Garden Cafe is difficult, and after the small lots fill up, you'll have to snipe a spot on the streets. I stopped by for a visit after seeing all the high reviews. The staff were nice and recommended the Penne Alla Vodka with chicken, and I ordered that and an iced latte. The parties seated next to me had an appetizing meal, and I was excited to hopefully experience the same. The pasta was fresh, piping hot when it was served, but I have to admit it was quite strong. I was first hit with a very sweet flavor, followed by what tasted like a spoonful of salt. The garlic bread, though hot, was much better, though leaning on the saltier side. The scant chicken was probably the only redeeming quality of this otherwise expensive dish. Overall, the meal was a chore, and I can't say that it was an enjoyable experience.

Andrea S.

Yelp
Excellent food. Healthy, delicious seasonings and sauces, cooked to perfection. The decor is simple and it is counter service, otherwise it would have been five stars. Cost was so reasonable. The host was most congenial.

Julius G.

Yelp
A quiet repast in a garden cafe hidden in bustling urban Sherman Oaks with the nearby 101 Freeway and the Galleria. Walking in, it was dark and the menu was an ancient wall placard that harkens back to the 70's. The clear plastic menu booklet was clearly 70's retro diner style with post Covid-era prices. No waitstaff. A counterperson takes your order & you are bestowed number triangle & food is brought to your table. It's a hybrid lunch counter where they look for your number instead of yelling out your fast food fictitious name. Mine? Dangerous. I always get a smile or a roll-eye.

Diana N.

Yelp
Awesome food and enjoyed the environment! I'd go here again, just the parking is a bit difficult however the food and the environment is worth finding a parking spot!

Ruth G.

Yelp
Food was decent. Service is great! Ambiance is great as well. The reason why I said the food was decent, because I ordered the Crab-cake Benedict. It taste OK, when I asked the waitress if it was real crab meat she said, she didn't know because they order it. So they don't make it fresh in the house. Someone else makes it and delivers it to them frozen and they reheat it. The crabcake is real crab thou, but it was more breaded than crab, still OK but not great. I had the potatoes with it and those were just okay as well. Could have been seasoned more. My friend said her meal was just OK as well so it didn't blow us away for us to return but the place looks really nice.

Keegan W.

Yelp
I come to the place all the time and usually I love the food and the vibe. More recently however I've observed certain things starting to go south. The staff and servers almost always seem dour lately, as if they're unhappy to interact with customers - it carries an uneasy vibe. The other thing is that they now price gauge for unnecessary items...like milk for coffee. My friend and I ordered drip coffee to go, then after paying for the coffees, we asked for a small splash of oat milk. With an incredibly noticeable frown the server said, 'that's extra', then proceeded to charge $2.19... for *two splashes of oat milk*. On top of that, she had the audacity to add 'refills aren't free'... on two splashes of oat milk. Lol. I hope the restaurant management reevaluates the smaller details like this because they do matter and affect customer loyalty.

Nicole T.

Yelp
First time visiting. What a delightful place. The garden was lovely to sit in. We sat under the canopy near the front. My nephew took me and my mom for brunch. He had the chilaquiles. Wonderful flavor. Mom and I shared a kale Caesar salad. Perfect flavor and parm on top and we had the mushroom pizza. One of the better tasting pizza crusts I ever had in a long time.

Chelar V.

Yelp
The Garden Cafe is somewhat of a hidden gem, being off Ventura Blvd. on Woodman Ave., that for years we wondered about this spot. Once we stopped in, it became a regular place for us, one we know we'll always have a yummy meal. If you're dining in, their outdoor patio is so enchanting. If you're sitting inside, the French style window & doors gives you a beautiful view of the patio~ with the Bougainvillea decorating the trellis that covers the entire area & twinkle lights / seating style, it's so relaxing & pretty! They'll have live music on certain days / nights, which makes for a fun experience & not just a meal. Our neighbor & close friend (a musician) has performed here & really enjoyed it. I've had brunch, lunch, & dinner here, & many, many takeaways; we often take friends in from out-of-town. The fact that we keep coming back is evidence enough they're a wonderful restaurant & have staff that help make your visits enjoyable. Some of our favorites are, the Turkey Caesar Wrap, Kale Caesar Salad with Chicken, Greek Salad with Chicken, & one of my favorites, the Chicken Kebob Wrap! My fiancé always orders the Garden Primavera with Chicken (it's his FAV) & I've shared it with him, I concur, it's so yummy! I tried the Penne Alla Vodka with Chicken the other day & wow, so good! My son likes to order several things to share & the Stone Fired Pizzas, along with any of the Artisan Grilled Cheese sandwiches & Skillet Baked Mac & Cheese are always on that list of go-tos, which makes everyone at our table so happy! No restaurant is perfect & every single one I frequent has had times where things are missed or forgotten, & I have to say that whenever there is something that needs correcting, GC management & staff have always quickly made sure to fix things & we really appreciate how much they care about making sure their customers are happy. After this write-up, I wanted to double check something & read this right from their website, "With a private garden patio tucked away from the main road Garden Cafe offers a secluded getaway to enjoy a quick mimosa, some great food, and a fantastic visit with friends and family." **They summed up everything I just wrote perfectly in 1 sentence! Love it!

Judie F.

Yelp
Beautiful venue very good foodstuffs A wonderful place to have brunch lunch dinner there was music on the patio on Sunday morning the one thing that you have to know parking is hard

Gwendolyn L.

Yelp
This is a very underrated brunch spot, it's beautiful covered patio allows you to feel like your eating in a secret garden. It's a jem, counter service and they walk food and drinks to you. Water is provided at your convenience. This place i will add is awesome if you have fur babies, they allow dogs and have dog bowls out for water. We ordered an ice mocha, chai latte and a cappuccino. We also ordered two benedict. One traditional and one with crab cake. The crab cake was a bit too soft my taste like mushy. We also ordered the banana french toast, syrup comes already on it, so if you prefer i'd say get it on the side. Overall i like the space and the service. Would come here again.

Jasmine B.

Yelp
i love the outdoor seating. They had live music playing today. The food is pretty good and there's lots of variety.

Roy H.

Yelp
They have some nice choices. The food decent, but the ambience outside is wonderful. Its nice place to meet for late breakfast or lunch or even brunch. I have taken some meetings here with friends and great place to sit. Parking can be a little tricky as its a small parking lot but plenty of meters on the street.

Destiny K.

Yelp
The ambiance is very relaxing. I loved their chilaquiles and service was great. Such a hidden gem!

TM L.

Yelp
Love the ambiance, the way they have you order and can sit on couches to enjoy your food..tasted great, always take leftovers home. Will be back!

Dena G.

Yelp
I'd driven by this place for years, and finally decided to try it. Service is friendly, though a bit slow. Food is ordered at the counter, and the server brings it to your table. Atmosphere is low-key and casual. Food is average. I'm having trouble writing a snazzy review, and I think it's because this is not a snazzy place. It's a casual, "come as you are" sandwich, soup, pizza, pasta place.

Nicole E.

Yelp
I was looking forward to trying out this restaurant because of the reviews but unfortunately it wasn't great. I'll give it that perhaps I did arrive when it was an hour away from closing however, I believe if you can't make the food great for me then communicate to me that that restaurant is closed for the day. I prefer that so much more than the food I ate. Bland, nothing special. Avocado toast, banana French toast, I was really looking forward to and wish I took one bite and left. I know they were ready to go but the waitress, lady who took our order didn't check on us once. I am pretty simple too. Doesn't take me much to be happy but that was pretty disappointing.

Yasi N.

Yelp
Stopped by here to do some work and grab a bite. Didn't expect much but I was pleasantly surprised! Ordered the Chinese chicken salad and the forest mushroom pizza. Both were delicious and filling. Also ordered cheesecake and tea for desert. They have seating indoors and outdoors. The outdoor area is really cute and looks like a garden. Great place to come by with friends or even to come and work.

Jaky B.

Yelp
Cute place, awful food. Pricey and just not good food. Honestly felt sick to my stomach after eating the super oily (and raw) sweet potato fries. They were kind enough to "x" out a few of the awful dishes off the bill which was appreciated.

Shannon C.

Yelp
This was definitely a great find! Truly a place to come to enjoy a fresh and tasty meal in a very relaxed environment. Sunday at noon was not crowded at all, but it started really getting busy around 2 o'clock. The breakfast burrito was filling and a favorite at our table and I absolutely loved the short rib Benedict! The 3-for Bellini special was the perfect added touch.

Stefani Q.

Yelp
Enjoyed a turkey club sandwich with macaroni salad, it was enjoyable and service was quick! The outside seating is beautiful. Inside is more of a classy vibe but the outside is a very cute place to sit and enjoy a private, comfortable conversation with friends!

Nutan S.

Yelp
The ambience is lovely. Service wasn't bad at all. Food was good. We ordered the baked eggplant parmesan, garden burger, veggie pizza, hot tea and some appetizers. They have limited parking. Will I visit this place again? Yes!

Nina E.

Yelp
The ambience was super relaxing and fresh, the service was amazing, and the food was totally worth every penny. We will for sure be returning to this beautiful place.

Shauna C.

Yelp
Only ordered a beverage. Already ate earlier. Such a vibe! In door and outdoor steering on a chilly afternoon. Heaters for the outside. A mellow ambience for inside dining was just what I needed to get some tasks done today!

Tunee K.

Yelp
Food was great. Ordered the Jidori Chicken fig sandwich and White truffle fries. Friend ordered Prosciutto and Fig pizza. Everything was delicious and served quickly. Seating was easy and cute design. Order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Staff was pleasant and place was clean. Parking is tiny and packed. Street parking is tough as well.

Brian L.

Yelp
Garden Café: where your cravings and healthy intentions shake hands! The menu caters to all tastes, making it a crowd-pleaser. Prices may not be for penny-pinchers, but the hearty portions justify every cent. I strolled in on a lazy Sunday, ordered at the counter, and like magic, my Roasted Beet Salad (bursting with goat cheese, walnuts, and--well--beets) arrived in no time! Added chicken to feel extra virtuous. Simple Quesadilla? Banana French Toast? Both solid choices for sharing. Service? Could use a little caffeine, but the food makes up for it. Breakfast, I'm coming for you next!

Kamron H.

Yelp
This is place pretty great. Had the breakfast quesadillas with pesto and not many places serve that. Yet alone it came in big portions too. Coffee here is pretty great too! They have a nice outdoor patio out front which makes it a great place to impress a date, relative, or even come for a business meal

Kayla A.

Yelp
This place never disappoints. Great selection in the menu. Friendly and prompt service. Good food.
