Garden Cafe (of Sherman Oaks)

An unassuming restaurant in Sherman Oaks. Quiet, chill, and rustic. It's a great place to bring your dog. On the night we went, there was a small band playing and singing. Some songs were better than others, but it added ambiance. It seemed like a lot of people were regulars. The biggest downside was that it took over half an hour for our two dishes to be served. (Neither should have been complicated, a veggie burger and another sandwich.) The sweet potato fries were very good. The table next to ours wasn't cleaned the entire time we sat there.

The outdoor ambiance is lovely, and the service was attentive. The salad was okay, the pasta was tasty. I’ll definitely return to try more dishes.

Perfect choice for a weekend hanging out. Italian atmosphere but somehow having Saigon’s coffee houses vibe. Good coffee (which is refillable) and great food too.

The atmosphere is very inviting, especially during the day. The sunlight peeking in through the plants is a very nice aesthetic. The food was absolutely delicious and I very much enjoyed the French toast. My sister had the crab eggs Benedict and she was absolutely in heaven. The staff are very attentive and look after you and walk around the tables quite frequently to check in on you. Overall, we will be coming back again as I think we have now found our new favorite brunch spot.😊

Good food and a great atmosphere is what you can expect here….BUT this atmosphere warrants better service. My husband and I ordered at the counter (not my preferred way to dine, but ok) then the staff brought food to our table. As another reviewer said, the staff did not look happy and it was not busy either. We both ordered the mimosa special for his birthday which includes 3 drinks, each. What happened next was awkward. Here we are sitting in this nice garden setting, the metal table is small but sufficient, that is until they bring the 6 drinks— all at once. Yikes!!! (A lazy and dumb business decision) The small patio type table wasn’t the most stable and it had to share the small space with our brunch too. Honestly, it looked tacky and we had to eat very carefully as to not risk the drinks from crashing to the ground. This place doesn’t know what it is. Sure it says Cafe in its name, which alludes to a more relaxed atmosphere, but the food, PRICE, and ambiance warrants better, fuller service.

Go for the patio and for the wine or pizza. We went for brunch and I found myself fixating on the sheer number of spider webs in my sight. I posted a picture and I wish I could say it was the only one I saw. The music is at least 30-40 years old and nearly all the furniture inside is outdated. The patio is adorable. I love the patio, and can tell it was more recently decorated but the inside screams 2004 Tuscan kitchen and it's like stepping back in time to the boomer glory days. My eggs were overcooked and eating them was more akin to chewing on a dry sponge. Take your grandparents here. They'll love it. Keep your date night to the patio and the wine. The patios ambiance is the reason to go, don't expect anything more than off route diner food.

Craving a healthy salad with tender juicy chicken. Then Garden cafe is the place. I have been craving a Caesar salad lately and have remembered this place. This is my second time getting the "Kicked up kale Caesar" (Romaine hearts, kale, shaved Parmesan with homemade garlic and rosemary croutons, tossed in our Caesar dressing.) Chicken is an additional charge but so worth it. Very tender and juicy. Don't be surprised when you eat them all up quick. Portion size is perfect for a hungry appetite as it is pretty large and will keep you full most of the day. Leaving your body feeling good and satisfied. Service was great and quick bringing out the food. So far garden cafe is my favorite place for a delicious Caesar salad.

I came on a Sunday after mass and I had the Golden Cowboy Sandwich with a side of macaroni salad. The sandwich comes with egg, pulled pork and chipotle aioli. Macaroni salad isn't typically offered at cafes so I HAD to get it here. I'll have to try the potato salad next time. There is plenty of outdoor, indoor seating and is perfect for big and small groups. They have sandwiches, breakfast, mimosas, pizza and a lot more. You order at the front and your food is brought out to you when it is ready. They have parking however, the parking lot is very small.

I recently bought my condo and moved walking distance to the Garden Cafe. What a serene, beautiful, festive and delicious neighborhood gem. It's feels like you've entered the secret garden, and are staying for a yummy dinner. We ordered the Primavera Pasta and the Chicken kabobs. The portions are enormous and the food super yummy. We sat in the very large outdoors patio area, relaxed like being on a couch; while twinkle lights and flowers hung overhead and a band played Bossa Nova. They have cozy heat lamps as well. Such a zen and beautiful atmosphere. Parking is eassyyy peaazzzy, drive in and park. I hope to visit more frequently in the near future. It's def my favorite spot here in Sherman Oaks to dine in; esp if you're a nature girl. What a treat and I'll be back, thank you. :)

First time here and plan to return. The parking lot is small but we went on a Monday right at 5 o'clock and didn't have a problem. There is lots of seating and plenty of space in a pleasant atmosphere . We were greeted immediately with a warm welcome and she helped me make up my mind. The food was delicious and the beer was great! I loved the salmon burger with skinny fries just the way I like 'em.

This is a very underrated brunch spot, it's beautiful covered patio allows you to feel like your eating in a secret garden. It's a jem, counter service and they walk food and drinks to you. Water is provided at your convenience. This place i will add is awesome if you have fur babies, they allow dogs and have dog bowls out for water. We ordered an ice mocha, chai latte and a cappuccino. We also ordered two benedict. One traditional and one with crab cake. The crab cake was a bit too soft my taste like mushy. We also ordered the banana french toast, syrup comes already on it, so if you prefer i'd say get it on the side. Overall i like the space and the service. Would come here again.

Loved this little restaurant tucked away. Although it's on a busy street they have made it a place that feels exclusive. The service is great and the food is delicious! The prices are on the higher end but the portions make it worth it. They have a bar as well! Highly recommend. No reservations accepted and you order at the counter and then find a table, there is a possibility that you need to share the table. But great opportunity to make new connections. I ordered the Chinese salad and I would have preferred to have half the dressing be added but that's on me for not asking dressing on the side. There was also live music that started at 6pm on a Thursday evening, a bonus treat!

A beautiful seculed restaurant tucked away off of Woodman Blvd. Casual dinning serving beer, wine and "All American" cuisine. Indoor and garden setting with a very relaxed vibe. You order at the counter and food is served at the table. Easy! Whether your craving salad, pizza, burgers, mac 'n cheese, or blt, there is a little something to please everyone. We ordered the margherita pizza and short rib cheese sandwich. Both very delicious and paired well with our bottle of Melbec wine. Friendly and courteous service which made our experience even more enjoyable. No rush to leave and all the time to relax and enjoy delicious food and surroundings.

Use to come here years and recently came for dinner. First off, the prices have sky rocketed insane!! 3 people $80 easily!!!! They were empty and the wait was about 35 minutes for the food, which was so unlike them. They had a loud band outside playing and had all the doors open so no matter where u sat, even inside , u couldn't talk because the band was so loud. Our pizza came Out cold and everything else was OK. So disappointed as I use to love this place . Will not be coming back.

Great quiet ambiance. Food variety is excellent. Courteous staff. Clean place. Had the roasted beet salad with salmon and it was beautifully served... well balanced with very good flavor.

Not sure why it's taken me so many years to try this place. Maybe it's because it's quite literally a hidden gem. Right off Ventura and Woodman but slightly hidden, pushed back behind a parking lot, walking into this place takes me to Tuscany, Italy with its cute garden aesthetic accompanied by a matching playlist. We ventured here on a Monday around 7pm. There were only a few people inside. We ordered at the counter and sat on the patio. The gentleman who took our order and the one who made our drinks at the small side bar were so polite and welcoming. They even moved heaters for us to a table of our choice outside since it was a chilly night. Though pricy for a glass of wine at around $17, it was more like 2 glasses thanks to the man's generous pour. No complaints! I haven't had decent crab cakes in years and these were amazing!!! Loved every bite and wanted seconds. The short rib grilled cheese was my next fave along with the Caesar salad and lastly eggplant parm. Everything was delicious. Service excellent. And Tuscany, Italy vibe with a glass of wine made this a perfect night. Can't wait to return and try more!!!

They have some nice choices. The food decent, but the ambience outside is wonderful. Its nice place to meet for late breakfast or lunch or even brunch. I have taken some meetings here with friends and great place to sit. Parking can be a little tricky as its a small parking lot but plenty of meters on the street.

Pricing and portions are decent. I absolutely loved the decor here both inside and out. I 100% recommend sitting outside if the weather permits it because it is so nice enjoying an iced drink under the breezy vines.

A quiet repast in a garden cafe hidden in bustling urban Sherman Oaks with the nearby 101 Freeway and the Galleria. Walking in, it was dark and the menu was an ancient wall placard that harkens back to the 70's. The clear plastic menu booklet was clearly 70's retro diner style with post Covid-era prices. No waitstaff. A counterperson takes your order & you are bestowed number triangle & food is brought to your table. It's a hybrid lunch counter where they look for your number instead of yelling out your fast food fictitious name. Mine? Dangerous. I always get a smile or a roll-eye.

We've been to Garden Cafe before for breakfast so we decided to try the dinner menu. We were early, only 3 other early diners. Placed our order at the counter and had our choice of tables inside or outside. Weather was nice so we found a cute spot in the corner. Love the garden setting which makes you ignore the busy street noises. The food was all good - juicy grilled chicken kebabs, solid grilled cheese with tomato soup, yummy crab cakes with salad. Also had the truffle arugula fries. Didn't know the fries were wedge which we didn't prefer and it could've used more cheese. Our food came a little later even though it wasn't crowded. And the drinks we had to remind the waiter.

TLDR: Price, parking, pasta, coffee? No thanks. Ambiance and environment? Yes! - - - - - - Parking for Garden Cafe is difficult, and after the small lots fill up, you'll have to snipe a spot on the streets. I stopped by for a visit after seeing all the high reviews. The staff were nice and recommended the Penne Alla Vodka with chicken, and I ordered that and an iced latte. The parties seated next to me had an appetizing meal, and I was excited to hopefully experience the same. The pasta was fresh, piping hot when it was served, but I have to admit it was quite strong. I was first hit with a very sweet flavor, followed by what tasted like a spoonful of salt. The garlic bread, though hot, was much better, though leaning on the saltier side. The scant chicken was probably the only redeeming quality of this otherwise expensive dish. Overall, the meal was a chore, and I can't say that it was an enjoyable experience.

Food was decent. Service is great! Ambiance is great as well. The reason why I said the food was decent, because I ordered the Crab-cake Benedict. It taste OK, when I asked the waitress if it was real crab meat she said, she didn't know because they order it. So they don't make it fresh in the house. Someone else makes it and delivers it to them frozen and they reheat it. The crabcake is real crab thou, but it was more breaded than crab, still OK but not great. I had the potatoes with it and those were just okay as well. Could have been seasoned more. My friend said her meal was just OK as well so it didn't blow us away for us to return but the place looks really nice.

Stopped by here with friends for breakfast and Garden Cafe did not disappoint. The patio has a cozy vibe and the service is amazing. The staff frequently checks in to see how everything is going and the breakfast is delicious as well! I'm not a big fan of coffee, but my friends insisted that I try because the coffee was that good! I'm glad I tried it that day because I always make sure to get a coffee every time I visit! I recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a cozy breakfast spot!

First time visiting. What a delightful place. The garden was lovely to sit in. We sat under the canopy near the front. My nephew took me and my mom for brunch. He had the chilaquiles. Wonderful flavor. Mom and I shared a kale Caesar salad. Perfect flavor and parm on top and we had the mushroom pizza. One of the better tasting pizza crusts I ever had in a long time.

The Garden Cafe is somewhat of a hidden gem, being off Ventura Blvd. on Woodman Ave., that for years we wondered about this spot. Once we stopped in, it became a regular place for us, one we know we'll always have a yummy meal. If you're dining in, their outdoor patio is so enchanting. If you're sitting inside, the French style window & doors gives you a beautiful view of the patio~ with the Bougainvillea decorating the trellis that covers the entire area & twinkle lights / seating style, it's so relaxing & pretty! They'll have live music on certain days / nights, which makes for a fun experience & not just a meal. Our neighbor & close friend (a musician) has performed here & really enjoyed it. I've had brunch, lunch, & dinner here, & many, many takeaways; we often take friends in from out-of-town. The fact that we keep coming back is evidence enough they're a wonderful restaurant & have staff that help make your visits enjoyable. Some of our favorites are, the Turkey Caesar Wrap, Kale Caesar Salad with Chicken, Greek Salad with Chicken, & one of my favorites, the Chicken Kebob Wrap! My fiancé always orders the Garden Primavera with Chicken (it's his FAV) & I've shared it with him, I concur, it's so yummy! I tried the Penne Alla Vodka with Chicken the other day & wow, so good! My son likes to order several things to share & the Stone Fired Pizzas, along with any of the Artisan Grilled Cheese sandwiches & Skillet Baked Mac & Cheese are always on that list of go-tos, which makes everyone at our table so happy! No restaurant is perfect & every single one I frequent has had times where things are missed or forgotten, & I have to say that whenever there is something that needs correcting, GC management & staff have always quickly made sure to fix things & we really appreciate how much they care about making sure their customers are happy. I love Garden Cafe! I use to live closer and will still on occasion make the drive over when visiting the valley. Their patio is very cute and spacious. I love their artisan grilled cheeses and Chinese chicken salad. 3 mimosas for the price of 2. Great fast service as well. They are an order at counter restaurant, so finding seating after order is always a thing but has never been an issue.

Enjoyed a turkey club sandwich with macaroni salad, it was enjoyable and service was quick! The outside seating is beautiful. Inside is more of a classy vibe but the outside is a very cute place to sit and enjoy a private, comfortable conversation with friends!

Visited this cute cafe after 7-8 years and it's even more charming than before! No wonder it was so busy! Came here on a Sunday around 11:30 and took us about 15 minutes to order the food. Food 4/5 My friend ordered the breakfast sandwich and I ordered a golden cowboy breakfast sandwich with a salad which was yummy! The pulled beef had made the bread soggy but other than that, it tasted delicious! Next time, I might add some greens or avocado to the sandwich. Drinks 4/5 Ordered a hot mocha and it tasted mostly like hot cocoa. I still enjoyed it! My friend tried both the hot rose latte and the iced and she liked the hot better. Ambiance + parking It's a small cute cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. They have communal tables in the back. There's greenery everywhere and flowers/leaves fall down at times so be mindful of that. Parking can be tricky. They have a small parking lot with about 10 spots and then metered street parking. As soon as I arrived, I found 2 open spots across and 2 more opened on the same side of the street. Price 4/5 I think prices are fair but not "cheap". Paid about $20 for the mocha and sandwich. Service 5/5 Everyone we interacted with was helpful and polite. Overall I'd definitely return again if I'm looking for a casual bite in Sherman oaks or wanna get some work done!

Garden Café: where your cravings and healthy intentions shake hands! The menu caters to all tastes, making it a crowd-pleaser. Prices may not be for penny-pinchers, but the hearty portions justify every cent. I strolled in on a lazy Sunday, ordered at the counter, and like magic, my Roasted Beet Salad (bursting with goat cheese, walnuts, and--well--beets) arrived in no time! Added chicken to feel extra virtuous. Simple Quesadilla? Banana French Toast? Both solid choices for sharing. Service? Could use a little caffeine, but the food makes up for it. Breakfast, I'm coming for you next!

I'd driven by this place for years, and finally decided to try it. Service is friendly, though a bit slow. Food is ordered at the counter, and the server brings it to your table. Atmosphere is low-key and casual. Food is average. I'm having trouble writing a snazzy review, and I think it's because this is not a snazzy place. It's a casual, "come as you are" sandwich, soup, pizza, pasta place.

Stopped by here to do some work and grab a bite. Didn't expect much but I was pleasantly surprised! Ordered the Chinese chicken salad and the forest mushroom pizza. Both were delicious and filling. Also ordered cheesecake and tea for desert. They have seating indoors and outdoors. The outdoor area is really cute and looks like a garden. Great place to come by with friends or even to come and work.

This was definitely a great find! Truly a place to come to enjoy a fresh and tasty meal in a very relaxed environment. Sunday at noon was not crowded at all, but it started really getting busy around 2 o'clock. The breakfast burrito was filling and a favorite at our table and I absolutely loved the short rib Benedict! The 3-for Bellini special was the perfect added touch.

Cute place on Woodman between Ventura Blvd and Moorpark St. that's long been in my neighborhood and never disappoints. Tonight I ordered the French sandwich w/ Croque in the name (it's a long worded sandwich) and steak fries. Omg, most delicious items I've ever gotten here!! Steak fries cooked to perfection and sandwich is my new favorite not just here but anywhere in my neighborhood! Chose the potato salad as my side w/ the sandwich. Everything was excellent!! On top of this no price gauging! I've long admired this place but tonight I fell in love w/ it! I'm pretty sure both items I ordered are fairly new on their menu. Regardless it was excellent food!!! In person you can dine in or out on the patio & it's never overcrowded. I'm so happy they survived the pandemic! Try it, you won't regret it!!!

This is place pretty great. Had the breakfast quesadillas with pesto and not many places serve that. Yet alone it came in big portions too. Coffee here is pretty great too! Food was great. Ordered the Jidori Chicken fig sandwich and White truffle fries. Friend ordered Prosciutto and Fig pizza. Everything was delicious and served quickly. Seating was easy and cute design. Order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Staff was pleasant and place was clean. Parking is tiny and packed. Street parking is tough as well.

The goat cheese isn't a good mix with this kind of pizza. It's overpowering. 3/5 stars for the mac and cheese with truffle oil: the type of baby pasta shells is weird but overall flavor isn't bad 3/5 stars for the chicken kebob wrap: the wrap was loose and soggy when I got it and it wasn't cut in half. Also it needs more flavor enhancement. 5/5 stars for the truffle fries: great flavor and crispiness. I like the sauces.

Quaint cafe for a casual dining experience. The inside is cozy with ample seating, perfect for groups and the garden style patio is ideal when the weather is nice. The food options are simple but very flavorful. I got the veggie burger which appears to come with a custom made veggie patty and it was delicious. My friend got the grill cheese which looked pretty hearty and was oozing with lots of cheese, this was definitely not a skimpy grill cheese sandwich. The tomato soup was also on point. The servers were very nice and the overall experience was great. I would definitely come here again if I'm in the area.

Easy parking and choice of seating inside or outside in beautiful surroundings. Great place to catch up for coffee or a wine with friends. Plenty of privacy as seating is spaced apart.

Extraordinary service and very family friendly. Even our big pup was given the best attention for a nice quiet late morning meal. Outdoor seating is plentiful and a fav. Indoor seating is quaint, clean and welcoming (but less popular of a seating choice). Cafe style counter ordering with food delivered to your table of choice. Good portions and hugeeeee chunky cookies with flavors that will having you drooling. Great spot for a quick, casual meal with family and/or friends and furbabies.

This is a real hidden gem and my go-to restaurant in Sherman Oaks: wonderful garden ambiance and great food at a reasonable price. The only reason it got 4 stars was the one time a waiter brought out a cold plate of breakfast food and then proceeded to microwave the plate which pretty much made it inedible. Which brings me to my only other complaint about the place. You pay for tip ahead of time. So, even though I had terrible service, I still tipped him 20%. They should rethink that setup. Otherwise, this is truly a great place to eat!

Might be my last time come here. I use to really like this place. The ambiance is nice and the food is very good. But today everything is just a huge disappointment. We came here Sunday, and they are busy, we ordered at the counter. We got the burritos and the omelet. And one ice coffee and one lavender latte. The lavender coffee is WAY TOO SWEET, and the ICE COFFEE TASTE LIKE WATER. And since they don't have waiters it's hard to get anyone's attention to help us. On top of that, we waited for more than half hr and our food is still not here. After I finally asked some one, he said he will check and then come out and told me that the food will come out right away. Clearly they have forgotten about us. they send out the burrito right away, but the side potato is cold. And I am still sitting here waiting for our French Toast and omelette. And regretting why we came here. The food finally comes out, but everything tastes blend. Omelette is under seasoned, French toast is blend and dry... I can make better omelette myself than this...seriously wonder where are all the good rating coming from?

You would never know the Garden Cafe exists just driving down the street. It's tucked away behind a small parking lot off of busy Woodman ave, so don't miss it! First off, what a CUTE place! Love all of the outdoor seating and open air vibe. The patio tables are well spaced out and I really enjoyed all the greenery! You order at the counter and they'll give you a number. They menu has a lot to offer, from pizzas to sandwiches to salads. Great spot to grab lunch! They also have a really cute wine bar and I definitely look forward to coming back to give that a try. I ordered a kale cesar salad and the short rib fries to split with a friend. The salad was a really decent size. Very fresh tasting too! The short rib friends were definitely dense, but the meat was so tender and flavorful. Lots of melty cheese and sauce on top. The fries are more like wedges which I wasn't expecting, but I wasn't mad at it! I will definitely be coming back here again soon! Such a pretty place and super great service.

Food was really good, service is good but could be set up more efficiently especially when having large parties. I would definitely come back! Parking is small and can be difficult to find.

Good food. Good service. Good ambiance. Overall, everything was fantastic! They have outdoor seats and are dog-friendly, too. The crab cake was so tasty, and the cobb salad was so good, too.
