The 38 Best Manila Restaurants | Eater

"Gallery by Chele is the revamped version of Gallery Vask, the multi-award-winning restaurant of chef Chele Gonzalez. Codeveloped with chef Carlo Villaflor, Gallery by Chele specializes in haute cuisine that makes use of local and regional ingredients like gotu kola (aka takip-kuhol, a traditional medicinal plant) and ulang (river prawn). Unlike its predecessor Vask (which had only a tasting menu), Gallery by Chele offers a la carte items, along with multiple set menus, including plant-based options. Reservations are encouraged." - Toni Potenciano

Gallery by Chele was an amazing experience! Truly one of a kind when it comes to fine dining and service. I went there to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and it was absolutely worth it. I loved the presentation, the background stories of the dishes, the creativity (especially how they used coconut in different ways across the menu), and the thoughtful cocktail pairings. Everything was so well explained and beautifully done. Super nice overall! Highly recommend going with the food and cocktail or wine pairing for the full experience. / 10 food tasting Make sure you make a reservation for your table:) The place was very busy and crowded!

It was a unique and special dining experience and we enjoyed every dish we had. The walking tour that we did for our welcome bites was a fun twist, and it was a treat to know the story behind our food. We ordered the six-course tasting menu, and each dish was so unique and tasted amazing. It was really nice knowing how they highlight Filipino ingredients and take inspiration from our local cuisine, but with a twist. The service was impeccable and the staff members were very warm and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place for special events and occasions.

So far, the best restaurant I’ve tried in the Philippines. Excellently curated, presented, and guided menu. Tried the 6-course tasting menu and I was really impressed by the concept. Modern Filipino-Spanish food that really gives you a memorable experience from start to end. I would’ve made some changes to the wine selection to accommodate the tropical dishes, and very minor improvement points would really make this resto outstanding. But this is truly good!

My wife and I were looking for a fine dining spot to celebrate our anniversary and experience what it’s like to indulge in fine dining in Manila. We decided on Gallery by Chele, and we’re so glad we did. We went with the 10-course meal—but to our pleasant surprise, it ended up being more than that, as the team graciously offered us extra dishes to try. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. The guided experience and storytelling throughout the evening added a thoughtful layer, allowing us to appreciate the creativity and process behind each dish even more. Coming from a background of having dined in many fine dining restaurants, I didn’t expect to be blown away—but Gallery by Chele truly exceeded my expectations. The food was phenomenal, the ambiance was just right, and the attention to detail—from how each dish was presented to how it was cleared—reflected a deep level of care and precision. We walked away feeling not only valued as guests but also that the experience was great value for money. I’d absolutely recommend Gallery by Chele to anyone looking for a remarkable dining experience. Thank you to the team for a memorable night!

I came here super excited! I’ve heard great things but I guess I should have managed my expectations. We got the latest menu (as of Sept 2025) which revolved around the theme of Coconut. We got the 10 course tasting menu with the Cocktail and Non-Alcoholic drink pairing. The dishes started out strong with the apps being enjoyable and flavorful. After that, it went downhill. The main reason I got disappointed is the lack of cohesiveness. Most of the drinks are all in the sour profile. And it’s not sour candy type of sour but the vinegar sawsawan type of sour 🤢. Then there are some weird ones like one tasted like a drink version of a cinnamon bun. One tasted like a bland lemonade. Then the rest, they use a lot of lambanog repeatedly and pinakurat, which tbh… tasted like drinking ACV in the morning so your bowels can move. I was expecting enjoyable creativitiy. But it ended up being just weird. It doesn’t feel like they were made to be delicious. They were made to be just different but tbh, some of them were trying hard to fit into the theme that it missed being enjoyable. It felt like what the line in the move “The Menu” said… “cooked with obsession not love.” I am a person that tries to finish what I paid for, especially for this price point, but some drinks were too disgusting that I ended up letting go of them. The dishes are hit or miss. But also… there’s an overall confusion to them, like starting with a sweet drink that tastes like sampaguita, which is almost like a dessert. Then the courses start and it’s seafood then seafood then seafood then seafood then seafood. Lots of them are also sour. So pair that with sour drinks? Acid overload. Then followed by 2 very small portions of meats and then some cheese, then it’s dessert already. That cheese was, sorry to say, disgusting. There was a cheese that is combined with sweet potato and it literally tastes like the taste in your mouth before you feel like throwing up. Like bile piling up at the sides of your mouth. Portion size — they’re super small. I get that it’s small plates and they’re tasting menu. I’ve seen other restaurants do it but Gallery By Chele dishes feel almost… “tinitipid yung customer”. You can feel like they’re trying to make more margins and they’re so affected by the inflation (despite the hefty price they’re asking) Also, no carbs apart from the steak rice. And that portion size is literally like 3 teaspoons. (You can check the video at the end). You will also see how small the wagyu and duck are in my photos. The pastrami strip also tasted like the cured meat you get in hotel buffets. Only this time, it’s 1 small strip per person at a much more expensive price tag. After we left, we went to a mcdonald’s drive thru coz we were… honestly still hungry. Looking back, there was regret dining here. I suggest they let go of doing themes if it just ends up with dishes that are not enjoyable.

Incredible dinner. I did the 6 course dinner that was Buko themed in March 2025. Every single bite was either so delicious I could eat platefuls or at least super unique and interesting takes on flavors I’ve never had before (like seafood ice cream). Wasn’t expecting the starting bites either but it was a filling and fulfilling meal. Get to tour the other parts of the restaurant like their garden and test kitchen. as well. Excellent service. Truly one of the best meals I’ve ever had!

Google
Terrific dinner with family. We had gone for the full tasting menu and they catered for pregnancy. I also went with the full cocktail and wine pairing and it was fantastic, only one concern was the glasses were extremely dirty and unpolished throughout majority of the wine tasting and when i emailed, I did not get a response at all. It is what it is and when in Manila, this is normal to not get a response on feedback and complaints. With Michelin allegedly coming i to the city, i suppose the dirty glasses will be totally unacceptable. For us however. Its fine. However, we really enjoyed the creativity and the service. The walk around the restaurant was fun and interactive as well as eductaional. Had no idea Nata de coco was sort of like a scoby from fermentation originally. The signature octopus inasal is still on the menu and deserve to be signature dish. Again, small things that went slightly wrong did not at all diminish from the fantastuc experience and would definitely cone back again.

Yelp
Tasting menu 2 of 4 I spent 4 nights in Manila and had a nightly resy to do a tasting menu. This is where I was on day 2. Differences: Out of the 4 places I went to, this was the most put together. Let me explain. As soon as I walked in, I could tell they'd been around the longest. They had a much bigger space and even make their own kombucha. They also have their own parking garage which is a huge plus in that part of town. Traffic in Manila is something else so if you still have to look for a parking spot, I wish you luck. There was what' appeared to be a bar or more casual setup. All 3 of us opted for the 10 course menu along with the wine pairing. The pour was quite generous for each course. When I tell you, I was faded by the end of the night. Here are my personal highlights: The welcome bites- there were so many we were a little overwhelmed. Thoroughly surprised Citrus Lobster- delish Belly Inasal - interesting take on a dish that typically uses chicken. They use tuna here. The smokey kick was certainly there The rice dish was fuego Pineapple Sponge - so refreshing. It kicked off the remaining desserts The presentation was super thorough. Every person who explained the dish did a great job going over every ingredient and its origin. Ditto for the sommelier. Top notch service all around. I loved how eclectic the clientele was. There was a family, couples on dates and friends. A full house all night. Everyone looked to be having a fantastic time. I'm so excited to come back and see what new dishes they've come up with.

Yelp
Embarking on my third visit to Gallery by Chele, the front's recent renovation, now featuring a bar for starters, adds a refreshing touch. The revamped tasting menu, accompanied by a tour of their garden, elevates the overall experience. Today's ten-course journey encapsulates Chef Chele's decade-long culinary exploration. Noteworthy are the Beer Urchin, a delightful blend of uni, foie gras, and cerveza negra where the foie gras complements the uni impeccably. The Iberico Charsiu stands out with its perfectly paired sauce enhancing the pork. As expected, impeccable service prevails, with a memorable touch as one of the servers recalled our previous visits.

Yelp
We had a lovely dinner at Gallery By Chele celebrating our honeymoon! The dining room and bar area are elegant and modern. We were seated at our table by a friendly waiter. We opted to do the tasting menu, one wine pairing and one cocktail pairing. All of the food that we tried was delicious, and the alcohol pairings were spot on. The highlights of the menu: The tuna was served with a small sorbet which offered a sweetness with the fresh fish. The octopus was perfectly tender. We loved the iberico. The house gin cocktail was phenomenal. The beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection! We were happy with the service and the food! We really enjoyed the experience.

Yelp
It has been at least 2 years since I last ate here. It is now post covid and restaurants are starting to open. Gallery by Chele has opened up a patio deck in open air, fans for circulation and a mandatory reservation plus vaccination card in order to dine with them. There are avail parking but be careful with the steep drive up the ramp. We chose a pre-set group menu to share. A group of 6 is just enough to without being to overcrowded. Just to start the temptation of your palate, we had pintxos, rabas roll, inasal bombs and tortilla de patatas. Pintxos: smoked beef, tomato, sourdough 8/10 Rabas Roll: squid, anchovies, parsley 10/10 Inasal Bombs: lemongrass, calamansi Mayo, chicken 20/10 Tortilla de patata: potato, onion, egg 7/10 For the appetizer, we have blue crab salad, charcuterie board and grilled octopus. Blue Crab Salad: organic greens, pineapple sorbet, avocado 8/10 Charcuterie Board: smoked beef, sourdough bread with a choice of mango jam, pickled veg, cream cheese Mayo, anchovies on the side 8/10 Grilled Octopus: sweet potato purée, malunggay chimichurri, fermented green mango 15/10 Our main courses are squid rice and txuleton. Squid rice: onion, black ink, togarashi 15/10 with a hint of spice. Delicious!! Txuleton: usda angus ribeye 15/10, Parmesan parmentier 20/10, garlic emulsion, red bell pepper confit, mushroom and mixed salad. Yes, I have rated both the steak and parmentier separately. It is THAT good. And lastly for dessert, talandang and burnt Basque Cheesecake. Talandang: a 7 layered chocolates goodness from its chocolate shell, foam, mousse, cocoa nibs, powder, crispy rice and melted chocolate. Super yum! A must to have an americano. 10/10 Basque cheesexake: save the best for last. Delicious! 12/10 Overall, I would definitely go back again. The ambiance was wonderful. A nice music in the background and not too loud.

Yelp
I heard of this restaurant from my friends and they also have ate here before and told me how great it was! I don't even know where to begin... I made a reservation of one since I was solo traveling in Manila and opted for the nine course meal. They first seated me down at the bar for my initial bites. After two bites, I was given a tour of their sustainable garden, which was cool because they also grow seeds to send to farmers to grow. The chef explained to me how they're trying to sustain and grow greens that were almost or could of been destroyed due to urban growth in Manila. There was also the "lab" area but there was an event going on so I couldn't get a tour. The chef said he would show me after the event but I ended up leaving before the event was over :( After the mini tour, I was then moved to the main dining area where I would be eating the rest of my meal. Every dish that came out was explained and thoroughly described by the waiter. It was great and you could see how the chef is very passionate with food, the culture and also being environmentally conscious. Each dish was thoughtfully planned, well executed and delicious! My favorite was the scallop dish. However, the nine course meal was definitely ambitious for little old me because I got too stuffed at the end. I ordered the nine course meal that also came with five bites, distilled water, two alcoholic drinks and it all came out to $114 USD! I believe their menu changes with what they have in season or growing. Overall, I recommend this place if you're ever in Manila, and I would definitely come back if I'm in town.

Yelp
Service was amazing, not over bearing and were very attentive. Food timely came out and no dish disappoint. Highly recommend if you have something to celebrate or even have time to get your tastebuds alive and kicking! Almost forgot to mention their impressive drink list and make sure to try a glass of their moscato... it was delish! Hats off to the sommelier and the waitstaffs that night... Yelp
I was not impressed with the food and the staff. I was told that this restaurant offers fine dining, but it has a long way to go to achieve "fine dining" status. The food was small portion and not tasty. I asked for the steak to be well done, instead it came out medium rare. As to the staff, it appears they rather be somewhere else than doing their job.

Yelp
Good food and amazing service. We had the 5 course meal and my favorite was the fish or "Shades" - fish is perfectly cooked and cucumber complemented the taste.
