Galle Face Hotel

This is the best hotel at Galle Face to stay at as it is right on the water, unlike the other neighboring hotels. The rooms are very comfortable and nice and the hospitality of the staff is some of the best I've had in my life. I loved sitting by the water and working on my laptop, and it's an experience that will remain a core memory of my life forever. The breakfast buffet was really good with so many options to choose from. There is something for everybody. I am definitely coming back here on my next visit to Sri Lanka.

A pleasant hotel relying on its age and colonial past and in a good location. Good views, elegant furnishings and flowers, plenty of choice in public areas. Comfortable room probably the worst in the hotel as it was a very cheap special price for a 2 night stay but it was well appointed, good shower and totally adequate. Good value for the price. The breakfast was good but avoid the over priced lunch and dinner buffet. The salt pool was great, scarcely used and well maintained with plenty of shade.

I’ve visited this hotel a few times for both high tea and lunch, and it offers a lovely blend of tradition and modesty. As one of the oldest hotels in Sri Lanka, it carries a strong reputation. While the high tea selection isn’t as extensive as some other hotels, the quality of the food is still satisfying. Overall, I had a good time and enjoyed the experience.

Beautiful location with old world charm of a by gone era. Love this place.|The staff are exceptional, as soon as you arrive you are treated professionally and made to feel very special. Nothing is too much trouble for any staff member, always with a big smile. |The Concierge Manoj was wonderful he helped us call family friends we had gifts for, looked after the gifts for us until they were picked up. Manoj was always happy to help with anything we needed, always with a big smile, He made our trip so special, and we looked forward to seeing him each day for a chat. Emmanuel was also very helpful helping us find a Jewellery store and full of suggestions for where we could go for the day. The breakfast buffet has everything you could imagine, a great way to start the day. Deliciousness!|At the end of a long day sightseeing, it was so lovely to sit down and look at the ocean and enjoy a few drinks, enjoying the sunset with cool breezes. We were fortunate to have Avishka looking after to make sure we always had a drink; he was doing a great job looking after everyone.|At 6.00 each night they have a beautiful ceremony with bagpipes to take down the Sri Lankan flag from the beach. It is lovely to witness.|We will certainly be returning when we visit Sri Lanka again.

We first visited this hotel some 20 years ago in the old building. But it has some old world colonial style and magic- so we love visiting. It is big and it can be too big For some especially after a few days. Breakfast is a big buffet style event with a wide range of options. Our room (sea view) once again was quite small but comfortable with good linen, coffee and tea making facilities and a little fridge +iron and ironing board and safe. We had a bath too - you can see in places it needs a bit more TLC but even so the setting is great and lots of great places to sit and look out to sea. Plenty of eating and drinking options, a spa and gym. Plus a reasonable size outdoor salt water pool. |Reception staff are very helpful and efficient. Sadly tipping is still be a bit of a requirement at times - I would love a central tipping policy

We went on to ‘In on the green’ couple of times and it was one of the best pubs out there in Colombo. The service was excellent. The service staff are exceptional as well. Especially Dhananjaya, who is very friendly and accommodating. Kudos to the team at In on the green. Best wishes. This will be our favourite hangout spot in Colombo.

fantastic service and food. Rooms were comfortable. Egg hoppers are super amazing and the view is just awesome. Felt looked after. Enjoyed beach side dinners and partying,despite it raining heavily we had lots of fun as the staff ensured we still got our food and continued to play good music and had us enaged.

From the moment I stepped inside, I was struck by the old world charm, grand wooden arches, antique furniture, and the serene, timeless atmosphere. The room, was well maintained and had everything I needed for a restful stay. The staff were incredibly welcoming, and the location was ideal for exploring Colombo. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve discovered a piece of history while still enjoying all the conveniences of today.
