Galle Face Green

Nice place to take a stroll, especially during sunset hours. Hard to cross the street though (the pedestrian lights to cross do not work and you feel you’re going to be hit by a car), but once you’re near the ocean, it’s beautiful.

This place is not for swimming but for walking. I didn’t like the strong smell from the food stalls. The scenery is beautiful, especially during sunset. You can fly a kite or simply enjoy the ocean and the view of the buildings.

Pretty quiet on a morning, but the place really comes to life early-evening. Lots of street vendors, local families enjoying the open space, and a really nice vibe. Glad we came back to see it on an evening 👍🏼

Weekday mornings here are pure bliss—peaceful, breezy, and perfect for a stroll. Weekends, though? Total chaos! It’s packed with people, so be prepared for crowds. As for the street food, you’ll find a ton of Isso (Prawn) Wade stalls—tasty, but almost everyone sells the same thing. Fair warning: the fishy aroma isn’t for everyone, so bring a sense of adventure (and maybe a strong stomach).

Galle Face is one of the best spots to unwind in Colombo. The open green space by the sea is perfect for a relaxing evening stroll or just sitting down to enjoy the ocean breeze. It’s a lively area with food vendors offering snacks like isso wade and ice cream, which adds to the experience. The view of the sunset is stunning, making it a popular spot for locals and tourists. Whether you’re looking to relax or take in some fresh air, Galle Face is a must-visit.

A perfect place to spend your leisure time. It looks really good in the evenings. A kid friendly place with a lot of activities. This place is used for a lot of national events by the government.

Galleface Green is a beautiful and relaxing spot, just a short distance from Colombo city. It’s perfect for a peaceful stroll, enjoying the ocean breeze, and spending time outdoors. While the food options are available, I wouldn't say they’re the best — you can try them if you're curious, but don’t expect anything too special. Public beach where you can find a lot of street food carts selling fried seafood snacks like prawn & crab scallops and other local food like fruits, nuts, and olives. The best time to visit is at sunset to sea sun goes behind the sea. It's beautiful for walking. Also, just from at the front of it you can visit Galle Face shopping mall.
