"Since Giles and Julia Fisher bought the Freycinet Marine Farm in Coles Bay, they’ve managed to increase their production from 50,000 oysters annually to 4 million, and have opened an outdoor café that serves fresh seafood to happy diners (and one very fat Labrador, who waits patiently below the picnic tables)."

We had the most magical lunch at Freycinet Marine Farm - the oysters and prawns were fresh, light and tasty and it was an absolutely delicious seafood chowder, so velvety! We paired this with a local white wine each and enjoyed this fresh, delicious lunch! Thx to the team for being so were efficient and friendly. Highly recommend stopping for lunch on the way to/from walking the wineglass bay trail walk.

Really happy with the food there, we ordered oyster 🦪 and the Chowder and chips. Compare with the oyster in Sydney, the oyster there is much more sweeter! So tasty! Not a huge size but I think that’s depends on the season. The chowder is also tasty, full of flavour! Chips also not bad. My friend order the scallops dish, looks and smell really good! I think price are reasonable, it’s not cheap but now day everything is getting expensive. Do not recommend the Mediterranean tho, I think the best way to eat the fresh oysters still non cook.

What a surprise discovery! My family and I stumbled upon Freycinet Marine Farm entirely by chance during a road trip to Freycinet, and I am so glad we did. We were just looking for a quick stop for brunch and ended up having one of the most memorable meals of our trip. This place had a charming, rustic, laid back vibe that immediately put us at ease. The atmosphere was bustling with people enjoying their fresh seafood. We decided to try the oysters, and they were absolutely incredible. We've had oysters at many places, but these were on another level. Each one was plump, briny, and tasted so fresh we could almost taste the sea itself. It was a true testament to the quality and care that goes into their farming. But the oysters were just the beginning. We also ordered the prawns which were sweet and succulent. It was clear that everything was prepared with a deep respect for the ingredients, letting their natural flavors shine through. Just simple, fresh goodness of the seafood. We ordered more seafood, they were so good that we eat them up so fast that we forgot to take pictures. The staff were also fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about the food they were serving. They were happy to answer our questions and provided excellent recommendations. It was this combination of exceptional food, a wonderful atmosphere, and top-notch service. What surprised me the most was the sheer quality of the food for a place that feels so relaxed and unpretentious. It's the kind of place you'd expect to find in a big city, but here it is, tucked away and serving up some of the best seafood you'll ever have. It's a must-visit for anyone in the area, whether you're a seafood lover or just looking for an authentic and delicious meal. I can't recommend Freycinet Marine Farm enough. It's more than just a place to eat; it's a true culinary experience that celebrates the bounty of the sea. We will definitely be making a point to stop here again on our return trip, and I'll be dreaming about those oysters until then!

While the food tasted fresh, it was an atrocious 30-minute wait time with pathetic portion sizes. The service and portion do not match the high price ($30~$40/dish). It is mostly self-service, from picking up the food to clearing the table, which would be fine if there was more value for money. I would recommend the fish and chips above the other dishes. I would not recommend the abalone, as it costs $35 for 3 small pieces. Overall, the food tastes good, but don't expect to have a full stomach from it.

Fantastic place to stop for fresh seafood on the way to Freycinet National Park. We really enjoyed the fresh oysters. The cooked prawns and seafood chowder were also delicious and full of flavor. The space is open, clean, and welcoming, with plenty of seating and ample on-site parking. A great spot to relax and enjoy quality local seafood. Highly recommended!

Google
Tasty casual stop for some fresh seafood in the Frecinet area. Can select fresh oysters/ fish from counter and also get meals. Casual picnic seating. Moderate wait time even when there isn't much of a crowd. Nice fresh tasting oysters. Second time visiting here.

Google
Excellent oysters and mussels, doesn't serve hot food after 4pm. Expects you to clear your own plates etc and for a direct producer the price of shucked oysters was more than I'd expect to pay.

Google
We got practically everything on the menu. The food was hella delicious. it’s a tad pricey, so don’t expect ‘wholesale’ prices. They’re not a wholesale centre! if you’re asian, then you’re in for a treat - they have a wide selection of your typical ‘asian’ sauces to go with your food.

Yelp
Fresh seafood in an open space restaurant. The oysters were about half the price compared to the Melshell oysters at another restaurant we had the day before. But they also weren't as juicy and were smaller in size. Overall a good experience.

Yelp
Our last stop before we made it to Bicheno was at Freycinet Marine Farm to grab fresh mussels and oysters for home. They farm mussels, oysters, abalone, sea urchin and scallops. We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 3:45pm). Seating is picnic table style. There's 10 options on the menu otherwise, you can pick your seafood of choice from the display case. They also had drinks available. - Mussels ($10.00 AUD/kg) - we got a kilogram of mussels to cook at home. These were tasty. We cooked them in a white wine, garlic and onion mixture. - 2x Natural oysters ($22.00 AUD/dozen) - we got these au natural which is my favourite way to go. They were a little smaller and less plump than the ones we had on Bruny Island but still fresh. Solid spot to grab seafood, whether it's to stay or for takeout.

Yelp
Well this is definitely a tourist "focused" spot and it is expensive but the food (at least for us) was very good. We liked the salmon. For $14 two nice slices of plus a good salad. Note that this is a picnic table kind of place but we showed up at 1pm and it did take a while to get food as the tour buses had just arrived. However unlike other reviewers we very much liked the oyster al naturale. They had a nice brine and great flavor. They went well with the sparkling wine served there. The Black Lip abalone was done in lemon on the half shell. It was a bit dry in parts but overall had a nice flavor. We really liked the farmed mussels in broth. They were large and flavorful. Really tasty. Overall this is one of the few quick spots on the peninsula here and if you Malte sure to go Early or late not a bad place to sample the cuisine.

Yelp
Had a chance to try some abalone as well as some cooked oysters here. Excellent flavors, all caught/raised within 5km of where I was eating. Long lines and they sell out quickly so get here as soon as you can after your day at Freycinet.

Yelp
Its a pity that what probably started as a genuine seafood shack has now been morphed into a tourist trap. It's not the owners' fault - they're probably rolling in cash in their Sydney or Melbourne penthouses, as they've struck the tourist trap lottery. The oysters were not shucked properly, leaving little bits of shell in them. The natural oysters were tasteless - just bland nothingness. And at $12 for a half dozen, $20 for a dozen, you're not getting a bargain eating at this "marine farm". Lightly poached oysters in soy and ginger were better, but very light flavour. Abalone roll ($25) was a big disappointment. The abalone was sliced very thinly, then grilled - which make them really tough to chew and tasteless. You need to serve abalone in thicker slices, and only lightly cook it to preserve the flavours. The bread roll it was served with was generically bland and tasteless - reminded me of rolls served as airplane food. Overall, I'm never come back to this place again, as the tourist trap disease has set in, and nothing can save it.

Yelp
We visited this place on our way to the Freycinet National Park. The location was convenient, about 20 minutes from the parking lot of the park. We ordered a dozen of oysters (cooked trio, $25 AUD) and a box of sea urchin ($15 AUD). The oysters were fresh and grilled to perfection with yummy sauce. But at $25 AUD a dozen, it's actually more expensive than other oyster farms we've visited in Tasmania (we've seen $13 AUD a dozen in other places). It's good to visit if you are on the way, but there're plenty of other seafood options in Tasmania if you are looking for something cheaper.

Yelp
They don't have an extensive seafood selection here, but everything looked good and we enjoyed our mussels and scallops. Also note that if the weather is cold, all of their seating is outdoor (mostly covered) picnic style. Good pit stop on your drive into Freycinet National Park. Hopefully you'll manage to order before the throngs of tourists on those massive tour buses arrive.

Yelp
Delicious poached with ginger and soy - avoid going at busy times - 11:30 was perfect!

Yelp
A perfect spot to sample all the good local seafood freycinet has to offer. The crayfish, abalone and mussels were particular highlights, but everything was superb. It's definitely a casual affair--you bus your own tables--but don't be fooled; this is world-class seafood. Good local wines to match, too! A must visit.

Yelp
The food here is pretty good but it does seem like a tourist trap. Busses drop ppl off and they order expensive shellfish varieties. The food was pretty good. A few of the dishes are on the overly creative side so I'd recommend the more basic plain oysters over the salsa infused ones. Not a bad place to visit.

Yelp
Discovered this place on the way to Coles Bay and we were eager to try it out after having a wonderful meal at Get Shucked on Bruny Island a few days before. Whereas Get Shucked only has oysters, this place has scallops, mussels, salmon, lobster and various other items when in season. We tried the garlic scallops with bread, mussels steamed with lemon, and oysters with salmon, brie, ginger and shallots. The scallops seemed a little overcooked and didn't seem matched with the garlic broth is was served in. The mussels were perfectly steamed and wonderfully tender and tasty. The oysters with salmon, brie, ginger and shallots sounded good, which is why we ordered it, but it just didn't work for us. The combination of salmon and brie just made it too salty. Though I liked the mussels, the other two items averaged out my impression of the food to just OK. It's as if they can do plain steamed just fine, but anything more complex than that is beyond their core competency.
