"Hike to a Hideaway Frenchman's Cove is more than a beach. It's an idyllic escape. After paying a small entrance fee—used to preserve the grounds—you'll hike about five minutes through verdant gardens flanked by an emerald river stream, before the views open onto a glorious beach and the Caribbean Sea. This cove was once a favorite romantic escape for Elizabeth Taylor and Burt Reynolds, and it's not hard to see why. When you tire of the beach and waves, hop over to the river and swing from the vines into the fresh water. It's an ideal spot to spend the day, for couples or for families."

One of my favorite beaches. The beach is clean and well maintained. A lot of chairs and day beds available even though we arrived in the afternoon. The staff is friendly and kinds. The food is amazing. We had friend fish and I would go back just for that fish.

Very bad experience with the guard at the entrance and the manager at the office desk: we arrived at 9 AM and wanted to pay by credit card. The guard told us that the réception office was closed until 10 AM and that we had to pay in cash which means that we had to pay 10% more. We proposed to pay later but the guard in his booth refused. This means the office can be late but not the payment. This means also that the late arrival of the front office employee induces an increase of the entrance price! We decided to come back one hour later and talked to the manager who explained us that the late opening time of the front office was caused by some emergency. This explanation was not consistent with what the guard tord us at 9 AM. Was it some lie?Anyway this place and its employees are not in the good mindset with customers. This bad mindset can also be seen in the following pictures showing that this beautiful site is not maintained in a decent way: many empty bottles, plastic bags, papers everywhere. The houses are all damaged: broken staircases, damaged balcony railings, ... This place is not clean neither safe. Its employees don't respect the rules and no price is displayed clearly on a sign. We are talking of a place with an entrance fee of almost $US 16. For that range of price everyone should be nicely received, employees ought to be on time and the place ought to be cleaned and safe.

Was recently here for another visit. It's one of my favorite beaches anywhere in the world. The water mixes between warmer and cooler due to the river water flowing into the sea. The beach gets busy but doesn't feel crowded, and it's kept up pristinely. Do yourself and favour and stay all day - it's a beautiful, calming place.

It is a wonderful beach. Such a beauty. I cannot explain by words. Mountain water meets the sea at this beach. So there is a river and a sea to swim in. And very clean, calm with a beautiful landscape. I strongly suggest you to go there. Entrance fee:2500J$. If you want a loungechair, it is an additioanal 300J$ but honestly chair is not really necessary because sand is very soft and clean.

Honestly wasnt a bad experience, entrance fee was reasonable but maybe eat before or after cz portions arent as large as you think they would be… around midday the beach isnt really calm but the river was amazing.

One of Portland's most prized gems, Frenchman Cove is. I will say that it's one of the more unique beaches, due to it having both the beach and a river mixed in it. Being that this beach has it's reputation to keep up they don't slack off at all when it come to maintenance. The environment is clean all round. The beach area was nice, though I found it to be a bit too shallow to truly enjoy. The river was what I actually liked, I found myself spending more time there. I enjoyed the fact that there was the option of both bodies of water. They do provide lawn chairs, but it's at an additional cost, which I found dissappointing given the cost to enter. Food is sold there, but I didn't purchase any. So I can't say anything on it's quality. It has gotten more expensive over years with it now being 2500 JMD for locals. I don't think it has to be for that price but I dont make the rules here. All n all, still a wonderful prestine beach...

One of my favorite spot in Jamaica. You get to enjoy the river and or beach. The younger kids really seem to enjoy the river. It's calm and cool and no waves. While the beach is a little rougher but really nice and picturesque.
