Franz Liszt Academy of Music

Ferenc Liszt Music Academy has a stunning Art Nouveau building founded in 1875 and it is one of the oldest university in Europe (founded by Franz Liszt who was a great royal composer). The university is offering degrees in classical and jazz music. It is a music hall and a university that is one of the top music schools. The building is located very close to Andrassy avenue and giving its name to the square as Liszt Ferenc square. You can buy tickets at the ticket office and on-line; if you can not, just do not miss to visit the building! There is a guided tour 50-minute-long and you can marvel at the splendor of the Grand Hall, the elegance of the György Solti Chamber Hall, and see the fresco entitled Fountain of Art - one of the most significant works of art of the Hungarian Art Nouveau in the upstairs foyer. Do not miss out the 180 years old Herend porcelain vase, (you can find in the photos) and the Zsolnay balls at all the stairs in the building, their blue color is very unique!!! Its interior is richly decorated with frescos, stained glass, and mosaics and its concert hall is considered the most beautiful of its kind in Budapest, Hungary.

We attended a concert with the purpose of both seeing the building, which is considered an important example of the Art Nouveau movement, and enjoying beautiful music. The building has an impressive architecture with unique details that make you feel immersed. The concert took place in the main hall, and we also appreciated the acoustics and design of the hall. In addition to the architecture of the building, we also enjoyed our time there. The concert was wonderful, and our experience entering and exiting the hall was smooth. The staff members were attentive and polite. I highly recommend purchasing tickets to a concert that interests you and experiencing this impressive building while enjoying music inside.

For any who likes music and plays must come to visit. Beautiful building and the performance room is just amazing. We had the chance to listen to Vivaldi 4 seasons and the performance is just to the peak! Recommend to everyone!

Top music school with rich history. The tour includes a short rehearsal by a top talented pianoist which is the high light of the day.

To put it simply, I don’t know how my life would be without Liszt Academy’s concerts. Incredible atmosphere, lovely building, welcoming staff, I couldn’t ask for more.
