The Franschhoek Wine Tram was an incredible experience! The staff were friendly, and the journey through the stunning vineyards and mountains was unforgettable. Each stop offered unique wines and delicious food pairings. The relaxed pace and breathtaking views made it the perfect day out. A must-do for wine lovers and anyone visiting Franschhoek. Highly recommended!

In short: it was amazing! We chose the Exceptional Experience and were fully cared for all day, and didn't have to think about or decide on anything! We were picked up on time in Cape Town and were received very friendlily in Franschhoek. The three wine estates were fantastic and our guide was very knowledgeable (heard she studies wine making, so that makes sense 😉). The food and wine were delicious and the people everywhere were very friendly. I cannot think of any negative point whatsoever. Well worth the money for a definite highlight of our trip to Cape Town!

At first the slightly complicated route map and different trams appeared confusing but go with it… it soon makes sense. Unless you are a wine buff and have a vineyard you want to see pick a route and hop aboard. The number of vineyards to visit is quite mad. The tram was fun especially after the first few wine tasting stops and when there’s no tram there’s a trolley bus. All the vineyards are set up for 1 hour visits and you have plenty of tasting options with nibbles to choose. All the vineyards we stopped at were amazing value. Great fun. Don’t visit Franschhoek and not do this. If you like wine this is the fun day out for you.

The world famous Franschhoek tram. Was always on my bucket list. Will not do it again . They offer no pensioner or South African discount, and for me, it is very overrated. Don't get me wrong, it is a good experience, but go early, then you can make use of all they have to offer. To pay R300 per person and then your total time spent on the tram is not even 10 minutes, is a no for me. The staff on the tram was very helpful and they do explain everything properly. The welcoming glass of wine was also good. Because most wine farms close at 16h00, I feel the best option will be the very early tram and bus. Bucket list ✔️

The wine tram was a new experience. However, I had an unpleasant experience. While waiting to board, a father and son sitting by the window kept making strange faces and saying something that sounded like "onion" towards us. We were the only Asian travelers on the tram. The father stopped after a few times but the son kept repeating those words during the tram ride, so I asked them if they were talking to us, and they explained that they were speaking to their family sitting behind me. It's really unfortunate to see a father not guiding his son but instead joining him in acts of racism. Racists raise their children to be racists. I hope they realize how their behavior makes them look uneducated. Anyway, it was a fun experience visiting several wineries by tram. I recommend this for those who want to visit multiple wineries in a day.

We booked a guided tour with the Franschhoek Wine Tram, and it was absolutely worth every penny! Our guide, Simon, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. We toured three wineries – two by bus and one by tram – and everything was perfectly organized. The wines and food were fantastic, and Simon’s explanations were not only insightful but also easy to remember. A truly memorable experience and a highly recommended activity for anyone visiting Franschhoek!

Very fun and enjoyable experience on the wine tram! We booked starting at 11am which allowed for three winery visits which was plenty for our group. I will say that the actual time you spend on the tram is quite short - about 20 minutes max between wineries and the rest of transportation is via bus. So, perhaps the whole thing is a bit gimmicky but it was enjoyable nonetheless and we would do it again :)

Simons says drink 🍷😉. We did the 'curated wine experience' that took us to 3 vineyards with tastings and lunch. Amazing day complete with tours and our own personal guide, Simon. He's amazing, and if you get him, you're in for a gem of a day. Fully recommend the tour to anyone considering it.
