"Fortuny fabrics, with their iridescent, waterlike shimmer, were born here in Venice at the Giudecca factory. You can't visit the factory (trade secrets, you know) but the Fortuny showroom is open to the public. Along with fabrics for sale, you can also view some of Mario Fortuny's art as well as mementos of the iconic process that created such tactile velvets and silks."

Thank you for interesting display of Fortuny textiles at your historic Giudecca location. I came expecting to see showrooms and not a museum and was definitely not disappointed. Although I am not a professional decorator I greatly appreciate the beauty of Fortuny fabrics and designs. Your communication, organization and hospitality was much appreciated. Although it was not the best time of the year, the tour of your gardens was also impressive. Thanks once again. Don't bother my hotel called to make sure it was opened, I showed up and they asked if I had an appointment, said no, they had 2 costumers in the boutique, wouldn't let me in asked me to wait 1/2h, I asked if I could visit the garden in the mean time: answer no then reluctantly this salesgirl accompanied me rapidly in the said garden, they asked what hotel I was staying, didn't disclose, then let me in, felt like a vagabond trying to get in a fancy store. My first day in Italy, in Venise, not a good impression. Snobs. You can keep the 850€ umbrella or the 350€ cushion. They asked again for my hotel name. Went back to the Hilton. Ciao

What a wonderful visit! Despite coming unannounced, Carla gave us a wonderful tour of the showroom and grounds. Her expertise was invaluable and she helped me find the fabrics I was looking for. Thanks again!

As a San Francisco designer for over 20 years, I have been to many show rooms and used Fortuny for many of my past projects. When I was in Venice we decided that it would be a wonderful experience to visit the Fortuny showroom to get a sense of their history and production. However, Ms. Turrin, the showroom manager, was less than welcoming to the point of being rude and making us feel very unwelcome. We were 10 minutes early and she seemed put off right away. We were given a tour of the garden and 25 minutes later allowed to go into the showroom without permission to use the facilities before our tour began. We were not allowed to touch the fabrics and when I inquired about purchasing fabric for a future project she was more concerned with seeing my resale number than anything else. We were not shown any of the lighting, table ware, silk shades etc. While the fabric is still very beautiful and alluring, the experience was a tremendous disappointment.

Wow! Was never made to feel smaller than during this experience! Was excited to follow the travel book recommendation only to be knocked down by a rude, condescending and pretentious rep who took the opportunity to imply I could never afford their product. Venice has much better to offer.

We discovered this in a TV series about Adriatic gardens (Monty Don). Normally the gardens cannot be visited, but the lady in charge gave us a quick tour. Many thanks for that. <3

Very badlly received. It was obvious that there was nobody inside but an employee, a blond girl very pretencious, come to the entrance asking me to come another day with a reservation... Wow, what a great comercial sense. I m working in Brussels with a lot of Art Nouveau museums...Well...

Absolutely the worst experience in Italy - do not waste your precious time in beautiful Venice to see 20 outdated samples in a pretentious environment... I have no idea how they became reputable.
