Yelp
We return for a birthday dinner celebration as the variety of food tends to be a hit with the family. If you haven't done a Brazilian Steakhouse, Fogo is definitely the top of the line. The premium cuts of meats & Feijoada Bar are extravagant with tons of items to fill ones palate. (I dare not say "salad bar" as it goes way beyond the basics)
The last few trips left me feeling that maybe the buzz for coming here is gone as I didn't feel the service exceeded expectations. It's expensive to dine, & in the past I would of said, it was worth it, but not this last time.
The servers for the meat weren't listening to my request, and when they came from the kitchen, it was like they always started/ended at the same place.... That didn't sit well with me as some of the items I wanted, they just blew by our table.
A lot of the meats were really "over cooked" and lacked the signature flavor profile. The Medalhoes (bacon wrapped steak/chicken) was "way too salty",
the Linguica (Spicy Pork Sausage) were dry (need to dip them in a sauce of something) and the filets were not tender.
The specialty items, Fraldinha, Picanha & the Alcatra were simply overcooked and I couldn't tell them apart. Best item of the night, the Cordeiro (lamb Chops) were good, but everytime they came out, I was the last to get some and I got "what's left". Found myself waiting too long to try the next selection of meets (and yes, we were all flipped on green waiting)
I did voice my concerns, but it was a too late into the dinner to really make a difference. They asked me what I wanted and they came directly to my table... Note, we were towards the end of the night/closing. Service was ok, but they were not 100% present for us between removing plates, refilling drinks or assisting. Trips to the Feijoada bar were meet with some disappointment as items were not replenished in a timely manner, and one to many kids or suspect adults forgot how to use serving tongs. The Feijoada bar should be staffed with 2 people... one to police it and the other to help keep it refreshed.
Overall, the experience was less than satisfactory. Dressing up was the vibe for years in the past, but now anything goes. Business dinners, post-golf or corporate events, graduations, birthday, Mother/Father/Valentine's Day... I would highly recommend avoiding this place for major events as even with reservations, you run the risk of being seated significantly later and the quality of the food goes down hill with an influx of people.
