Step into the cozy vibe of FOB, where former Daniel chef Armando Litiatco serves up mouthwatering Filipino BBQ and seafood, all in a charming backyard oasis.
"You might not be able to tell from its aqua-colored facade on Smith Street, but the backyard at F.O.B. in Carroll Gardens is an ideal date night spot, where you can bond over some Filipino barbecue. Get the pork skewers, and if you’re sharing, get the spare ribs as well. We also like the sisig because it’s a pleasantly sour platter of tender meat and huge chunks of chicharon. "Daniel vet Armando Litiatco opened up this cheery Carroll Gardens spot in 2016, the name of which is an acronym of “fresh off the boat.” The menu spans all manner of surf and turf, like peel-and-eat shrimp basted in 7-Up, butter, and garlic; pork sisig; and pork or chicken barbecue skewers, served with banana ketchup for dipping. The zippy aqua-tinted facade ushers diners into a compact but attractive space, with wicker chairs and mismatched china." - Robert Sietsema, Eater Staff
"This BYOB Filipino spot in Carroll Gardens is a great place to know about for a handful of reasons. Those who live nearby have probably already taken advantage of the spacious backyard patio, since it rarely gets packed. But their pork sisig is easily some of the best we’ve had in Brooklyn, and you should consider getting two portions of it because one order is annoyingly small (our only complaint). A pleasantly sour platter of tender meat topped with raw egg and huge chunks of chicharron, this dish would be the star at any dinner party. " - Nikko Duren, Kenny Yang
"F.O.B. is a Filipino restaurant on Smith Street that feels a little like someone’s living room. There are plants, exposed brick walls, and, if you look closely, even some old family photographs on the walls. The menu here consists of things like grilled skewers, pork belly, and chicken adobo, and there also a bunch of sides, including garlic rice and sliced-up tomatoes with a duck egg. We particularly like that tomato side and the Filipino barbecue, which comes with either chicken or pork skewers. If it’s nice out, you should eat those things on the big back patio." - Bryan Kim, Carina Finn Koeppicus
