The Best Filipino Restaurants In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"This Filipino fusion taqueria brings California culture to the West Village. At Flip Sigi, you can eat an adobo chicken Cali Burrito or a Flip-N-Out Burger with banana ketchup while early-aughts hiphop shakes the graffiti-covered walls around you. With cheekily named menu items like the spam-filled Plan B Rito (yes) and the Brunchwrap Supreme (hell yes), they’re doing a lot. But the more they lean into the fusion, the better everything tastes. Flip Sigi Review - West Village - New York - The Infatuation

"California, famously, knows how to party—as demonstrated by its “hella dank” Filipino and Mexican food, and the genius who decided to put french fries in burritos. Flip Sigi brings all of this Golden State fun (plus a sparkly disco ball) to its Filipino fusion taqueria in the middle of the West Village. Here, you can eat an adobo chicken California burrito or a Flip-N-Out burger with banana ketchup while early-aughts hiphop shakes the graffiti-covered walls around you. With cheekily named menu items like the spam Plan B Rito (yes) and Brunchwrap Supreme (hell yes), they’re doing a lot, but the more they lean into the fusion, the better everything tastes. Stop by for a couple of beers and the 2-For-1 Taco Tuesday deal." - Neha Talreja

Came here after seeing something about it on Instagram. The food was great but the Filipino flavors didn't stand out as much as I would have liked; they were a minority of the meal. The burrito was very filling and the fries were perfectly loaded - not too much, not too little. The tater tots were absolutely perfect.

What an awesome place! It's super tiny, but in both of my recent visits I was lucky enough to snag the only table. The only other seating is at the bar. On our first visit, my mother and I shared the off-the-menu item - a tortilla filled with short-Rib and cheese that was then grilled to crunchy perfection. It's was $12 and huge - filling for both of us. And that short rib was super tender and flavorful! Mom was then email a $5 off coupon, so we were happy to return again. This time we got a burrito filled with Pulled chicken, pork belly, avocado and cheese. Talk about awesome! The chicken had some kind of sauce that absolutely punches you in the face with flavor - so good!! I think in my perfect world, I want the ingredients of the this burrito inside the grilled tortilla I had the first time.... Visit during happy hour to get a $3 beer or two tacos/baos for $5. Friendly and fast service! Definitely check this place out!!

Food is a greasy mess. Tacos were so oily and absolutely inedible. Sinigang fries were a joke with little containers of hot sauce and vinegar on the side. Burrito was a Rutgers grease truck knockoff with fries inside, very dry. Burger was okay, but not as good as Shake Shack or Five guys which also cost less. $100+ worth of items later and not one was worth recommending. The good reviews all seem like they are written to be supportive and quite frankly as if they were by bots (“so creative, so amazing, best tacos ever”). Read the bad ones and they all say the same thing...food is pretty awful. Just look at the pics. =)

One of the best breakfasts I had in New York. Loved the Plan B Burrito, the breakfast taco and the pork belly breakfast sandwich. Coffee was good, service was excellent with plenty of seating available. Will be the first place I visit on my return to NY ❤️

I had the chopped cheese with tater tots. It was absolutely delicious! The pork and beef had tons of favor and the cheese was so goood. The bread was perfect nice and soft and it soaked up all the juices. The tots were extra crispy and were some of the tastiest I’ve had. Absolutely loved my meal here.

To be honest this place isn't perfect. The restroom facility leaves much to be desired and the seating is rudimentary at best. That being said the adobo chicken taco was excellent. The price was low and the flavor was high. I wished I fused Filipino flavors with Central American cuisine. If one were to judge this place on food alone this place is a winner hands down.

Delicious burritos and spicy Dan Dan Noodles are a must. I’ve ordered dan dan noodles on two different times, but they are not consistent as the second time I ordered as it was less saucy and spicier. Decor and service is great. There is also a restroom. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this Filipino inspired restaurant.

3.5 stars. ’ve been wanting to try Flip Sigi forever and my expectations were quite high as I kept seeing the rave reviews. A few weeks ago, the stars aligned, and I was finally in this neck of the woods and was able to check them out. The restaurant has a very cool, hip vibe befitting their location in the west village. The décor, furnishings and staff are eclectic and very welcoming. I knew beforehand that the menu showcased Filipino fusion type dishes. I opted for their Filipino Rice Bowl, Dan Dan Noods and an order of Nice Buns. The Filipino Rice bowl has sweet longanisa (sausage), garlic fried rice and a fried egg. It also came with a toasted pan de sal (bread). Surprisingly, I was a bit underwhelmed by this dish. The longanisa meat had nice texture and char from the grill but was kind of dry. The garlic fried rice smelled heavenly but tasted kind of bland. And the pan de sal, while nicely toasted, could have benefited from some butter. I wished this dish had some kind of sauce/crema or spicy vinegar or atchara (pickled veggie) to help elevate the flavor profile a bit. Luckily, we fared better with the Dan Dan Noods. This dish had both ground beef and longanisa meat on top of ramen noodles and was topped with a fried egg. I liked that you get both beef and pork meat, and the noodles were nice and springy. It also had quite a bit of heat but not overwhelmingly spicy. The Nice Buns were essentially a Pork belly bao. It was drenched in a sweet and tangy saucy and had two pickles along with the pork belly. It was kind of small in size but tasted good. The whole meal was okay and the food was good, but I think I was expecting it to be mind-blowing (which it wasn’t). Probably my expectations were too high coming here; I dunno. Or maybe I ordered the wrong dishes? Or came on an off day?
