Came for the very first time to watch spirited away, I liked the ambience except ventilation here is awful, I would say ignore at all costs during summer because you will be seated around smelly and sweaty people… (and I’m not exaggerating at ALL) other than beautiful cinema that offers some unique movies to watch.

This is to give the general public a heads up, so only facts: (1) There is no popcorn. You can choose to buy some packaged stuff, from their concession stand, which measures about a meter and a half squared. (2) Tickets can be purchased using a credit/debit card, Apple-pay etc. However, the concession stand only accepts cash. Wow. (would have been nice know that before I bought a ticket). Best of luck to your business.

Only cinema close to us that was showing the movie me & my bestie have been wanting to see, we came over from a different country just to watch it. The front cashier was extremely nice despite us speaking english. Love the old-fashioned look.

Have been to a couple of sensory adaptive showings with my children - as part of their Kino für alle initiative. Really recommended as it was how we got my son into going to the cinema. Nice independent cinema with non-mainstream programme.

Simply amazing. Awesome movies, the staff are all nice, friendly and understanding, AND competent too. And the vibes are just great. 10/10 I LOVE this place. <3

Watched an anime film in one of Vienna's oldest cinemas. Such a charming experience. Look out for their schedules, they have a good selection of movies! There's a mini snack bar inside as well!

It’s ok cinema, nothing special, movies are in general the same as everywhere in the city but more in the spirit of VotivKino, not that good of a quality and exclusivity level as the Filmmuseum, Gartenbau Kino and FilmArchiv Austria(Metro Kino)- these 3 I would recommend to literally everyone; what is special about it is generally trashy reservation system so when a good, actually exclusive film comes to it- it’s almost impossible to get a place if you’re not booking very much in advance(I’ve still haven’t seen the „trainspotting“ they’ve already shown 2 times); as you need to do it per email or call them(are we in the 1960s?…) and than come there 40+ minutes before the movie to pick it up. You would say: „just come to them on some other day“ but it’s very inconvenient for me as I live on a significant distance from the place and it’s not on my daily commute rout and I can not afford to waste 40 minutes of time to pick up the ticket if I’m lucky to get it via this outdated e-Mail/phone based system. I hope on any improvement on this side and a normal online reservation system like Gartenbau Kino has with the last call for all reserved tickets generally 15 minutes before the showing. I also should mention already classical and meme-worthy unfriendliness of the workers in such kind of places in Vienna, despite being payed very well they still allow themselves to be passive aggressively rude to customers asking basic questions which, perhaps in their opinion, others should know answers to in advance. Positive aspects would be a cool design and that screen and sound are decent.

If you want a really classical old fashioned feel to the now modernised movie theatre I recommend visiting this cinema. It shows many different movies and one can really get lucky with something you've never seen before. Full of culture and full of the old-fashioned feel. This movie theatre is for those that enjoy these types of things. They sell snacks and drinks at there little shop which you can purchase to munch on during your film. PS: There's also a super cool esoteric shop down the road if this interests you :).
