"Hôtel Fenua Mata'i'oa is a low-key boutique hotel with five individually decorated suites, each with a funky mix of handicrafts and loudly patterned artwork and upholstery. As one of the smaller options on the island, the property feels more like a guesthouse than a proper hotel, but it still features comforts such as a full bar and restaurant, private island dining experiences, and lomilomi massages. The hotel also offers a number of Tahitian cultural experiences, including traditional crafts and private Polynesian dance lessons. The proceeds of both activities go to help support a local NGO. Traditional Tahitian dance and music performances can also be arranged. And for guests who really want an immersive experience, Fenua Mata'i'oa offers traditional Polynesian wedding ceremonies, staged right on the hotel’s verdant grounds."

Beautiful location. Nice rooms. Snorkeling, kayaking, and paddle boarding right from the balcony of the hotel. Nice folks. Great lunch spot walking distance away. Would definitely recommend (and go to Coco Beach!)

My stay at Hotel Fenua was nothing short of magical. I had booked for two people. But my other had to cancel so I traveled solo. What a paradise within a paradise! Eileen has created a peaceful Oasis of beauty infused with authentic island charm, but also with your tech needs, if required. Everyone was helpful booking excursions for me, recommending restaurants and generally being wonderful every day. I never wanted to leave. Grab a kayak and explore the lagoon or languish at her beautiful dock and watch eagle rays glide by at sunset. Thank you to Eileen and her very caring staff!

My husband and I had a short but lovely stay in Moorea and Fenua Mata’i’oa was the best place we could have picked. It offers all the comfort of mainstream hotels with the comfort of home. The atmosphere is extra cozy with huge couches across the communal space where guests can relax and enjoy the moment. The decor of the hotel is thoroughly thought out and its beauty surprises its guest at every corner. The view is just stunning, with a deck with chairs for guests on the beach, from where we spotted several times manatees and barrier sharks as well countless other fishes. Guests can rent kayak or sup and take a little tour of the lagoon which we did every day of our stay. The hotel can also organize massages for the guests (which I highly recommend). Eileen is super nice, welcoming and helpful and really wants the guests to have the best time. Great location, great welcoming, great rooms and service, Amazing atmosphere and great staff! I already want to book another get away to Moorea and to Fenua Mata’i’oa. Thank you for making our stay so magical!

Eileen has created something special. The vibe is bohemian chic with attention to detail that makes you feel like you truly are in paradise. Anything you might want to do is easily coordinated with the front desk. The lounge and waterfront area is so relaxing. We definitely will be back!

If you want to snorkel on your own, this resort is ideal. You can rent a kayak directly from the front desk and take it out all day long, getting out anywhere you want in the shallow lagoon to snorkel. I recommend you bring your own snorkel equipment (which I always do when I travel). Use toothpaste to keep your mask defogged, and enjoy this great location! All of the snorkel tours come to the area of this hotel, so most people pay to snorkel there with a guide.|Also, yes, the island has a lot of mosquitos, and there are a lot of mosquitos at this resort. I use natural essential oil spray that works great and keep it in my purse literally everywhere I go. Do this, and you can keep the bites down to a minimum. As an alternative, most shops in Tahiti and Moorea carry their own natural mosquito repellant using a specific plant oil that the mosquitos hate. So if you don't bring your own I recommend buying it.||Also, this resort is close enough to food and a small market for supplies. Casa Vinzeno definitely has (by far) the best food in the area; make a reservation online the day before. Also, Holy Steak House is nearby, and it has a nice ambiance and food.||Lastly, I loved the beautiful and homey decor at this place. From the pond, to the plant canopies, to the outdoor kitchen, to the shared living area full of seating and lounge spots- it was all so great!

This is SUCH AN AMAZING place to stay in Moorea. Eileen is such a sweetheart. She made us feel right at home as if we were truly HER personal guests. We were greeted right away with a drink and a Lei. Shown around, and really just cared about. This is not a Glitzy Fashion Palace.... THIS is Real French Polynesian, with a rich glitzy service experience. Less than 1/2 the price of an OTW Bungalow with much more privacy. The grounds are absolutely stunning and the over the water dock both pubic and the private dock for the Prestige Suite (Highly recommend this suite) is nothing short of fabulous. I am excited to write this rave review because they deserve it. From her willingness to help, to her ability to be available but not in your face it is a pleasure. If you are looking for the best overall experience, all the while supporting this amazing family, then this is the place for you. Kayaks to rent, flippers and snorkel gear (we had our own) and everyone on the island knows her so the vendors will always pick you up there and treat you special, as one of Eileen's Guests. There is a market less than 5 minutes walk, 1 minute drive and restaurant (A GREAT ONE) 1/2 that distance away. The location is perfect for Rudy's or Holy Steak House, and none of the adventures are more than 15-20 minutes away, most are about 5-10 minutes. I could not recommend this place more highly - Ken and Margaret Maururu Eileen and company, forever in our hearts

Quirky, exotic and amazing decor - right on the lagoon. Spacious accommodation in an individual wooden construction with separate bathroom and kitchen and bar area. No restaurant on site but several nearby and free taxi service organised by the delightful proprietor. Breakfast delivered to our suite. Delicious cocktails served in the bar. Lots of seating and lounging areas and the property is full of interesting sculpture, paintings and books.

We found this tropical paradise by chance and have to admit that booking it for just one night in the presidential suit for my family of four was nothing short of magical and memorable. Upon our arrival, we were greeted warmly with garland and welcome cocktails and were shown the property which is strikingly beautiful and tastefully decorated. We felt at home away from home and watched sharks and string rays and variety of colorful fish swim by the deck .We enjoyed watching the sunset and captured some stunning pictures. The breakfast was fresh and delicious..We were booked in Sofitel for the following days and my children missed this enchanting property inspite of being in the beautiful overwater bungalow in Sofitel. We definitely would like to visit this property another time and stay for longer duration to really soak in it’s unfiltered beauty and mesmerizing environment. Ms. Eileen, the property owner has done a wonderful job decorating and making this place an absolute wonderland.
