Fat Cat Creamery in the Heights is a charming ice cream haven serving up inventive, locally sourced treats, from rich scoops to nostalgic sodas.
"Fat Cat Creamery in Garden Oaks has something for everyone, like orange sorbet push pops or milkshakes with a lot of booze. The local shop has scoops, popsicles, ice cream sandwiches, and an entire back bar to shake up ice cream cocktails. Make your own soft serve sundae topped with hot fudge or toasted pecans, or grab an old-fashioned egg cream soda to-go. You might need a cat nap afterward." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene
"Tucked in Houston’s Stomping Grounds, Fat Cat is scooping some of the creamiest and most flavorful scoops in the city. Staple flavors like the Cat’s Meow Mexican vanilla and the coffee and cream, made with beans from Houston’s own Amaya roasters, will have you double-backing for more. But don’t be afraid to venture out. Its rotation of creative flavors and different vehicles to try them — on cones, in shakes, or in ice cream sandwiches — are a big part of what keeps the Fat experience exciting." - Brittany Britto Garley
"Fat Cat started by making delicious homemade ice cream in the evenings and on the weekends in a shared commercial kitchen. They now have a fully operational ice cream heaven set right in the Heights. Creatively making ice cream with whole milk, heavy cream, sugar, egg yolks, and only the finest flavorings. Their milk and heavy cream come from Texas dairy farmers Mill-King Creamery in McGregor, Texas, and their eggs are delivered twice a week by Ole Dad Farms. Their good friends at The Barry Farm bring them figs, citrus, and other fresh ingredients they put in their ice cream. Fat Cat's ice cream pints and single-serve packages are made of leftover wheat straw and are compostable. They also use spoons made of environmentally friendly materials such as bio-plastics and cornstarch. Our advise to you is to double up on a scoop and waffle cone. What are you waiting for?" - Manready Mercantile

Its flavorful scoops, including its Cat’s Meow Mexican vanilla and Amaya Coffee & Cream, are fan favorites, but here, you can also find cold treats, including soft serve ice cream, old-fashioned sodas, push pops, ice cream sammies, floats, and milkshakes, which can be made boozy for those who are 21-and-up." - Brittany Britto Garley
