"Most people know the ranch by way of its restaurant, Farmstead. But the restaurant is only one piece of the Long Meadow Ranch collection. The Hall family runs an actual cattle ranch in Tomales Station and makes estate olive oil onsite at the Mountain Estate in St. Helena. The family also grows food on a 40-acre farm and 1-acre demonstration garden —oh, and they produce bright low-alcohol wines. Those wines can be tasted alongside an elegant spread of seasonal bites made with produce from the family’s Rutherford Farm." - Dianne de Guzman, Laura Smith Borrman, Eater Staff
"Brunch remains a Sunday-only affair at this Saint Helena establishment, one best celebrated with the restaurant’s famed bloody Mary. Beverage Director Evan Biner hews to a farm-to-glass ethos, balancing tomato richness with citrus and herbaceous flavors, house-pickled veggies, hot sauce, and a chili rim. Sunday fare includes a seasonal hash made of eggs and garden-grown veggies, grass-fed steak, and puffy beignets served with bourbon-caramel dipping sauce." - Christina Mueller
"For a down-home (but still Napa-chic) alternative to the Cal-Ital wine country grind, follow your nose to this Long Meadow Ranch-owned farmhouse, whose intoxicating smoker is parked right in the front yard. The cathedral ceiling, old-school country music and boisterous locals give Farmstead a permanent buzz; for quieter dining, hit the front terrace.Dishes are laden with ranch-grown products utilized in outstanding preparations like a summery salad of heirloom tomatoes and creamy burrata with salsa verde. The bone-in heritage porkchop with apple chutney on a bed of creamy jalapeno grits and grilled broccolini is spot-on. Take the farm-fresh flavor with you—on weekends the restaurant's stands are brimming with produce, beef and honey for purchase." - Michelin Inspector
"As you probably can guess from the name, Farmstead is a farm-to-table spot where you might stumble into a kale patch on your way to the bathroom. They’ve got a busy patio with occasional live music, and a buzzy indoor space that’s great for groups to hang out and share cheddar biscuits, ribs with green apple slaw, and pork chops with grits. They also do a great brunch on Sundays with Bloody Marys floating more of that fresh produce, which you can also find at their stand at the St. Helena Farmers market, which runs every Friday, May-October." - christina julian
