We spent three weeks in French Polynesia and stayed at a variety of hotels from big resorts to boutique properties. Fare Pea Iti was a stand out, and although we stayed 5 days, we could have enjoyed more. ||||The property has only 6 bungalows somit is quiet and restful. The bunglows are large and have big decks for sitting out, covered in case of rain. The best way to describe them, is to imagine you are a millionaire (not a muli-millionaire), and you are building a getaway cabin for yourself and your spouse in lake country, the mountains, up state, or on a tropical island. This is how they feel, and it is great. Simple, but exactly how you would build it, if it was your own place. Each bungalow is visually separate from each other with planted hedges and in their design, so you wake up and walk around your bungalow and feel as though you are the owner and live there. ||||The grounds are immaculate and oh, yes, make sure you arrange for them to pick you up at the airport by boat, as the ride over is very scenic. The small pool area is beautiful and the view from the small beaches in front of some of the bungalows to the reef is lovely. ||||We originally booked for the room and breakfast, but added dinner evey night. Go ahead and donthis when you book the room. The pricing of the excellent meals here is very reasonable for French Polynesia. If you live in a major city, the prices are the same or less as going out, but you get fresh local seafood and vegetables, in a romantic small restaurant with a wonderful chef. The food is cooked in the French cuisine style and was exceptionally delicious and portions were substantial. The cocktails and wines are very reasonably priced and well prepared. BTW, the continental breakfast is also substantial with bread, croisants, jams, fruit, juice, coffee, and the best homemade vanilla yogurt you will ever taste. ||||We usually skipped lunch, but a couple times we ordered the tuna ceasar salad and it was delicious. You could buy food at the grocery, but it is not much more to have the chef at Fare Pea Iti prepare a meal and have it brought to your bungalow or a table at the private beach, and we came here to be pampered a bit and relax, not shop and eat grocery store sandwiches. ||||Pascal and Maryline make you feel as honored guests, and this was our 23rd anniversary, so it was particularly romanic to feels as though we were staying at a private tropical retreat. ||||There are free loaner bikes to take to the grocery store (5 minutes, 1km, half mile) if you want to buy a sandwich for a picnic, or bike to the pearl farm (it is a flat road and close) and a nice story to tell friends and super pictures of biking with Bora Bora and the tropical bay in the backgraound. ||||The bike ride to the Vanilla Farm is doable (7 miles, 11km) in about 50 minutes for us old and sedentary folks. There is no shade along the route and it is hot, so take water, a hat, long sleeves, and plenty of sunblock. Or Pascal can arrange a drive there for a nominal fee, I believe.||||This is a quiet and romantic place. Perfect for any couple looking to unwind together in love.
