Nestled in Little Tokyo, this chill gastropub serves up killer American and Asian bites alongside a stellar selection of craft beers and cocktails in a cozy courtyard.
"LAist reports that Little Tokyo’s Far Bar has been giving patrons free sake shots every time Shohei Ohtani hits a home run. Owner Don Tahara, a lifeline Dodgers fan, was inspired to offer the free shots by the massive Ohtani mural that went up right across from the bar. He serves Sho Chiku Bai ‘Kyoto’ Junmai for the shots to celebrate Ohtani’s historic 54 home runs so far this season." - Rebecca Roland
"Wedged between two brick buildings and a canopy of string lights, the patio at Far Bar in Little Tokyo feels more like Williamsburg than Downtown LA, and in this case, we mean that as a compliment. Plus, the modern sports bar has a massive craft beer list with over 30 kinds of Japanese beer and gives out free sake shots when Shohei hits a homer during a Dodgers game." - brant cox
"This divey Little Tokyo staple has been serving solid Asian fusion bar food for a while now, but only recently became known as a craft beer haven as well. Their miso mayo-topped Far Bar burger is what they’re best known for but the wasabi fries are needed in your life." - Brant Cox
"Far Bar is the bar of choice after putting your name down at Daikokuya. It is about 50 feet from the ramen shop, so you can pop over real quick and grab a drink while you wait. For bonus points, enter in the side entrance and walk through the brick hallway into that sweet courtyard with picnic tables and string lights overhead. This area provides table service, which sure beats elbowing your way up to a crowded bar. If you’re into whiskey, this bar has a long list of that, in addition to burgers, sushi and other snacks." - Sandwich Video
"Nirvana is one of those places that you wish were nearby every night when last call looms. Part sports bar, part karaoke lounge (it only costs $1.50 to belt your little heart out to Sheryl Crow’s version of “The First Cut Is The Deepest”), and part Japanese restaurant, it’s a great place to end the night in Little Tokyo." - kat hong, james montgomery
