"Famous Dutch Pancake Huis, a breakfast and brunch spot known for sweet and savory Dutch pancakes, closed after 15 years. The restaurant's windows are now covered, and its website is defunct." - Ashok Selvam

"Pannenkoeken, Lincoln Square. A tiny cafe with only 7 tables who makes fresh Dutch pancakes! It's like you're transported to Amsterdam. Offering a dozen or so pannenkoekens—either savory or sweet—this little breakfast spot usually has a wait, but it’s well worth it. Write your name/number on the list and explore some of the shops nearby—they’ll call you when your table’s ready. We’ve tried the french toast and both savory and sweet pancakes. Our favorites are the Apple Pannenkoeken or Chococlate Banana Pannenkoeken. The portion is huge and you will eat it all. Also, get the orange juice. It's fresh-squeezed! You can see them put about 6 oranges in a machine that spits out 1 cup just for you. This is definitely a hidden gem in Lincoln Square, since the entrance is not on the main strip. Because there’s so few tables, they want you in and out so the next customer can enjoy a meal. But don’t worry, there’s plenty of coffee shops in the hood where you can sit and chat to your heart’s desire. Tip: It's cash only!"

"Pannenkoeken are large, thin pancakes traditionally found in the Netherlands and Belgium, and Pannenkoeken Café is a cute breakfast spot in Lincoln Square that specializes in making them. It’s a very small restaurant with limited seating, but even on weekends you won’t have much of a wait. They have egg dishes and French toast, but you should stick with the pannenkoeken - either sweet variations like chocolate banana, or savory options like bacon and cheese (the bacon is actually in the batter)." - Adrian Kane

Very cute small restaurant. There's only six tables in the place but it's definitely worth the wait. Food was outstanding! Love the fact that the orange juice was freshly squeezed when I ordered it.

Went here to try something new and I just keep coming back! Breakfast is delicious and the Dutch pancakes are gigantic and A MUST HAVE! Love them. Very tasty. Staff is very friendly. Place is small so usually we have to wait to be seated but it’s worth it! CLOSED ON TUESDAYS!!!

The place is really small but the wait wasn’t long. About 15-20 minutes. The food is worth it. We ordered the bacon & mushroom pannenkoeken, apple pannenkoeken with cinnamon gelato, and the 2 egg meal. Everything was delicious! I especially love their sausage

Fun place to go if you want to explore a different breakfast menu and experience. Note, this place is very good so it can take some time/luck to get a place in one of their seven tables.

The food was delicious! We tried a Denver omelette and then an apple Dutch pancake and they were both really good. The service was also excellent. It is cash only!! $$

It's cramped like everybody else has mentioned in previous reviews, but the freshly-made Dutch apple pancakes make it a worthy destination spot.....during the less hectic weekday. Although my selection was listed under the sweet section, the thinly sliced apples placed on top along with the whipped cream are NOT overly sweet, it's just right! Even their Dutch syrup is not too sweet, it's certainly not Aunt Jemima's. However, I can't imagine waiting outside for a table to open up in this teeny tiny restaurant of 6 (I think!) mini tables. Definitely not for families!

Food was okay but really wasn't worth the wait. This should be a 0 star review because of the service I had there: I arrived before noon and was told that the wait time would be about 30 minutes. After about 45 minutes my group was finally seated. At about 20 minutes to closing the waitress I had questioned about the wait time basically implied that we should leave since we had been there for too long. I found it to be extremely rude and made my group feel uncomfortable so we decided to leave. I should have asked to speak to the manager because I felt like no customer should be asked to leave if they are not causing problems. My group was honestly excited to try this place out but I doubt we will return.

We dined in on a Friday afternoon. There was no wait and we were the only people there for the first 15 minutes of our meal. I believe their current days of operation are only Friday through Sunday but they are open for dine in. It's one of the cutest places I've eaten in Chicago, and they have genuine Dutch ingredients! This restaurant is about to hit 15 years in October and I can't believe as a lifelong chicagoan that I just found out about it. We will definitely come back.
