I ordered this salmon/cheese sandwich that I had never seen before to try something new and brought it to the park just nearby. A little expensive at first sight. But that following moment ended up being one of the highlights of my stay in London. The mix between crispy sourdough bread, cheese and creamy salmon is SO delicious that I can’t really describe it. Try it, try it, try it!! I will definitely look for that one again next time I come to London!

Google
Food here is brilliant, very delicious options and the dessert options is amazing. Can be very overwhelming at first as you just don't know what to try. I went for banana bread and orange loaf. Both very very delicious. Staff very friendly and helpful. Seating all very tight, your sat next to other people as they've packed in the tables next to each other. Wasn't a queue for tables which was great

Google
Popped in for a quick breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. Had eggs Benedict which was served quickly and well cooked (bright orange eggs which were nicely runny). Coffee was good too. Highly recommended

Google
This cafe has some really great stuff! The prices are more than reasonable and the food is wonderfully presented. Delicious and quick. The interior is nice to look at as well.

This cafe is located on White Chapel Road, just a few minutes from the tube station, making it very easy to find. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff are very friendly and polite. They offer a variety of pastries to choose from. I ordered a mocha and a chocolate twist croissant. The quality of the food was quite good, and I look forward to trying their other pastries next time! They also provide a restroom for customer use, which is a nice convenience.

Google
This coffee doesn't look particularly fancy but I was really impressed with the quality of both the food and drink. I had bircher muesli, and while there was too much yogurt and not enough bircher oats, it was really high quality ingredients. The fresh juices are pressed there and then and the coffee is nice. I'd definitely go back.

Google
Seriously fab spot, multiple visits, fresh, the croissants are simple the best, coffee ✅ green tea ✅ open early, cosy, and delightful. Edit: I do have to add a caveat. On the weekend this cafe is a totally different experience. There is an unwritten rule that you must order coffee and a cooked breakfast from the menu (not the pastries on offer) in order to sit in, otherwise it has to be taken away. Staff also stressed to the max and transfer this in ways that aren’t pleasant. Wasn’t the best experience, we went elsewhere for a nicer experience, no one needs to be yelled at, life is too short for that!

Google
Really good coffee, the food was good but nothing special. Decent breakfast for the price

Yelp
Such a cute little cafe to grab a quick bite! The service was quick to help, all we needed was to wait for the food to heat up! The meat quiche was so creamy and everything a quiche needs to be. Super strong onion flavor in all the best ways, and a really buttery crust. A bit much on the ham for me, but it's a meat quiche so that's kind of a given. And this was my bf's favorite thing we had eaten all day! The spinach and cheese croque monsieur was also really good, especially warmed up so that the cheese was all gooey. The orange juice was very typical. It didn't necessarily taste "fresh squeezed" but it was good orange juice nonetheless.

Rebecca P.

Yelp
10/10 recommend! Mocha was great, and they a wonderful croissant and pecan brownie. I went on several days and all the girls were kind, and had smiles on. Love the feel of the cafe and I def recommend!!

Donna J.

Yelp
A cute cafe bakery with attentive thoughtful service and excellent breakfast. Though breakfast time, we had a spinach and cream cheese filled croissant plate and roast beef sandwich plate accompanied by small portion of salad. The croissant had cream cheese that was just right amount. The bread used on the warm roast been sandie was delicious. Bought additional pastries on our way out including carrot cake muffin and pastry bar with nuts. Coffee was one of the best coffee in London.

Anamika K.

Yelp
Came across this really cute cafe. I ordered the veggie breakfast and it was really filling. I ordered a latte as well. The service was quick and easygoing. They were super busy for a Sunday morning so it was a bit chaotic placing our order but it was definitely worth coming in to try the food! The decor was super cute as well.

Jeri G.

Yelp
Wonderful! Friendly service and delicious, high quality food. Had veggie quiche and an almond croissant and then went back 2 days later because I was craving more quiche!

G M.

Yelp
Hidden gem. I kept googling "Best Cafes in London" and the lists led to me mediocre places. This little spot was by my Airbnb and just wow. Never in my life have I had a croissant like that. Best bakery in all of London. Lovely staff. Just amazing, wish I could go back

Héctor N.

Yelp
Nice place on the street, there's a variety of vegetarian food and the coffee is very good, not sure if it was roasted right there but it was excellent, what I liked the most is that it was opened on Sunday

Katerina P.

Yelp
This is the only coffee place around that area of Aldgate which is open after 5/6pm so I always end up here. I haven't tried the food but the coffee is as good as anywhere else as is the service. I think they take the hipster repurposed furniture thing a little too far so everything is pretty rickety. So though there's normally space, I wouldn't work there for too long.

Megan B.

Yelp
Dropped in a number of times for grab and go breakfast and coffee, or Take Away as they call it. The chocolate almond croissant while a nice concept isn't well balanced taste wise. The fudge bar is amazing. The regular chocolate croissant is really good as are the croque monsieur croissant. Coffee is very good as well. Place is open early and late, every day that we went as well so is a nice spot to drop by for cafe food.

Katz S.

Yelp
3 or 4 stars? The usual indie coffee place. Cakes and salads on display looking beautiful. Soy cap was good. Was hoping for a more intense flavour, having ordered a double shot. Brownie was nothing special. Service was friendly but a bit disorganized. The whole cafe just lacked something, maybe a relaxed atmosphere and better exhaust fans - expect to smell of grilled cheese when you come out.

Lissa E.

Yelp
If it wasn't for the gorgeous looking cakes in the window I would have walked straight past this cafe - it has no sign which is a little off putting. But I'm glad they enticed me in, because this is one of my favourite little lunch places in the area. They have a good selection for lunch, all to eat in or takeaway - pizza slices, flatbreads, quiches.. All generously filled/topped. The side salads are way better than average - red cabbage with citrus fruits, potato salads. And for the area the pricing is reasonable and consistent with their competitors. Maybe a little pricier than somewhere like Pret, but way better quality and way more interesting! My favourite of the savouries is the ham and cheese croissant with bechamel. For £2.90 it's a good cheap lunch option - it's delicious and filling. Service is friendly and quick. There is seating but it's small and intimate. I usually take out. I've not tried the coffee but I'm told it's good and I enjoy the foam art on the coffee I see them serve! I'll likely keep returning every time I walk past and the cakes lure me in...

Yelp
Had the French toast and it was incredible/ coffee great too. Smallish inside and not a great exterior but food is amazing.

Michael T.

Yelp
What a find next to the Whitechapel Gallery! I had taken a red eye from NYC and hadn't eaten since I got here. I left the gallery going to another restaurant (thanks, Yelp) but found the window of Exmouth to enticing. I had the mozzarella and pesto sandwich with side salads. I don't recall if there were three or four salads but it was a lot and they were delicious. Definitely beer salad which had chickpeas then some avocado type salad with huge chunks of the green gold, walnuts and I think I tasted a pear. Also a potato salad which Yukon potatoes. The server/order taker was lovely and the whole ambience was old school coffee house. Real nice place!

Georg V.

Yelp
Overal a very nice cafe. Nice ambience, music, and friendly staff. It's a very cozy place to go on a cold Sunday morning! We ordered a cappuccino and chai latte. The cappuccino was great and the chai latte was good but tasted more like a vanilla coffee drink. We highly recommend the savoury and sweet croissants (especially the almond one). The chicken mozzarella flat bread was decent but could have been toasted longer. The feta and aubergine quiche was the only thing that disappointed us. Very bland and cold. We couldn't taste the feta in it either. However, overall a good experience and will come again :)

Bill N.

Yelp
One of my favorite things to do when traveling is to wake up early (not my favorite part), go running, and end up in a local coffee shop that makes excellent cappuccino. This place is great -- beautifully crafted cappuccino (see pic), cozy atmosphere with a vibrant vibe, and awesome pastries. (If you end a run at the Tower of London, it's worth a cool down short walk for the coffee.)

Oriel B.

Yelp
After a few days in London we finally found a coffee shop that serves some more than simple pastries. Amazing quiche and salads! Awesome coffee and the most important thing - the best service ever!

David L.

Yelp
I enjoyed a quiche and cappuccino. Everything looked excellent. They have quite an array of baked goods.

Mike A.

Yelp
A very good coffee house (finally!) on the Whitechapel Rd. It's actually closer to Aldgate East tube station, which makes it almost in the City. But I digress. They have excellent coffee here, and I have to give it five stars based almost solely on that factor. But if you venture in and try the food, you'll be very pleased. They always have a rotating selection, and everything I've tried has been fresh and tasty. The first thing you notice when you look in the window is plenty of pastries, but they also do a variety of salads as well, along with sandwiches, quiches and pizza slices. To top things off, they sell fresh coffee beans too, roasted, unroasted, whole beans or ground, it's up to you. This is a god-send to me as I've been looking for another source. Every time I've stepped in here, the atmosphere has been buzzing. It's right next to the Whitechapel gallery, so sometimes you get a bit of minor congestion near the doorway, but you can subtly bypass it. The staff are very much in tune with that dynamic - they'll catch eyes with you and take your order, if you're ready to order before the "slow poke" ahead of you.

Sherah B.

Yelp
Came here for a veggie quiche and my first flat white in East London! Very cozy spot!! I love the decor and everything tasted great. Highly recommend!

Mira S.

Yelp
Good, strong coffee in a cute shop, but pricy even for London. The decor feels old school, simple, sort of Parisian--black and white tiled floor, wood tables and chairs that seem like antiques or made from recycled wood. There's a big selection of various kinds of sammiches on baguettes and panini and more. The flat white is made well, and the coffee flavor is strong but not bitter. They sell their own bean blendsbto make at home. But a small was 2.70, even more than at Monmouth. So it's good, but not really a place to go regularly. However, there's free WiFi, they're until 8, and they're cool with people hanging out, so it's a good place to sit for a while to work or wait for a meeting, etc. The chandeliers are impressive.

Travel A.

Yelp
We found this little cafe whilst on our way for a meal. We stopped to window shop on the way back. Well needless to say we went in for a couple of cakes, unfortunately they all looked so nice that in the end we bought four. Some may say it's a little pricey but they are so worth every penny. We got ours to take away along with a very excellent cup of coffee. Well worth a try.

Liz K.

Yelp
Iced soy latte was solid, just what I needed on an unusually warm day in London. Beautiful display of savory and sweet baked goods, didn't inquire if any of them were vegan. Small bench outside from where you can watch the busy street. No window seats (I have a soft spot for those).

Kieran R.

Yelp
Yes! A superb delicatessen, artisan café on the path of my daily commute. Good coffee and amazing fresh baked pastries. One of my coworkers refused to sit next to me in a meeting because of how good my almond croissant looked. Lunches here are quality, light and decently priced.

William K.

Yelp
They have perfect coffee latte and flatwhite, the food served here are not bad, Croque monsieur is my personal favorite. Nice deco and relaxing environment, good for meeting friends and work too.

Samir S.

Yelp
Dear god this place is utterly awesome! It stands almost alone among the kebab houses and takeaways of the whitechapel road. Located just by the Whitechapel gallery and near Aldgate east station it is an oasis of great pastries, sandwiches and coffee. Not just any sandwiches mind, oh no. these sandwiches will delight all those who try. Yes they are pretentious but in this case thats a good thing. The last time I was there I has smoked salmon with wasabi cream on olive bread with coffee and a cupcake for £8, not cheap but pretty good value for something so excellent. Indeed the food was so good I had to walk 2 miles to my meeting to burn it off! Seriously this place is among the best places in the area and, dare i say it, most of London for the price.

Hannah M.

Yelp
I ruddy love this place! So much! Wonderful staff, lovely food! I've been here a couple of times, and I'm about to start a new job round the corner, so after my discovery of their lamingtons last week - I am going to increase in dress size tenfold. Seriously! Such sexy stuff, Eat in and take out. Quiche is beautiful with a good heap of gorgeous salad! Highly recommended!

Michael B.

Yelp
Love this place. Very sweet folks working there, sweeter delicious desserts, and fabulous coffee. The cherry and almond croquant was outstanding as was the granola tart.they also have an interesting selection of quiches, wraps, salads and other tasty fare. The Whitechapel library/art gallery next door has done very cool and contemporary exhibits.

Suz Y.

Yelp
The good: Consistent coffee & food. I would say the coffee here is on the milkier side. The flat bread sandwiches, salads, and baked goods are always fresh. Canelé is a must! If you eat in, you'll get a side salad with your food. The meh?: service isnt always top notch, some are definitely quicker and friendlier than others. However, the owners are very nice and I have been given free baked goods for waiting longer than usual for my coffee. The bad: Food (not baked goods) is pricier. For cheaper food I would suggest going 2 doors down away from the tube entrance - you'll see a display of sandwiches at the window. You can get more filling (but probably less healthy) sandwiches, pizza, quiches, and even pastas for under £4. To other reviews: Many people, most Americans, are unaware that many European coffee shops dont serve 'regular drip coffee' and generally the espresso drinks are double shots. That 'long black' and 'Americano' will be bitter. Do go ahead and stay at Starbucks if you can't take it.

Rachel Z.

Yelp
Places like this make me think that I ventured out to East London too late. I stopped by to grab a bite on my way to a design fair, what a wise choice that was! The food was delicious, especially the aubergine pizza. Coffee was good (the latte art was really pretty). It surprised me that they actually had really decent macarons. I really liked the chic rustic style interior. It definitely has a hipster vibe but I'm glad it's not too over the top. Also a very good place for people watching, it seems to attract a lot of trendy(but with good taste) young Londoners.

Alexandra P.

Yelp
Located next to the Aldgate East tube station near Whitechapel Gallery, this cafe oozes hipster cool, yet is unpretentious with a large cult following. Exmouth is know for it's extra fine coffee, roasted in house. It's a bit too strong for my taste but I can understand how serious coffee lovers/snobs go caffeine gaga over it. There is a great range of fresh, healthy salads salads, meat and vegetarian wraps, quiches, bakes and pastries on offer, displayed at the counter. Very filling and satisfying. There is no name on the outside, but the constant flow of people going in and out is a dead giveaway that this cafe is A+.

Leo U.

Yelp
+ Bakery/ café on White Chapel Rd next to Aldgate East station + Rare gem of a quality bakery/ café in the area Exmouth Coffee House is nowhere near Exmouth Market. Instead, it is situated On White Chapel Rd, near Aldgate East tube station in East London. I believe it is so called because the founders of the coffee house first met in that area (Exmouth market). Anyway, this is a great café that serves proper French pastries. With wooden display tables and naughty-looking sweets on top, this place looks like it could be any of the number-themed cafes in central London with no sign that indicates the name of the establishment other than a random two-digit numbers, presumably the street number of its location, proudly printed in front in minimalist font. (Seriously, what's up with all those numbers? Anyway, I digress.) But it is a rare sight in this part of town which tends to be cluttered and relatively less sophisticated. I had a spinach and cheese croissant as well as almond croissant for breakfast. Like many trendy cafes, portion of these pastries is never big enough. But they both tasted very nice.

Sheera G.

Yelp
Oh Exmouth Coffee, you gem you... Seriously, I love this place. It's bright and light, the service is excellent, the flat whites are artfully presented, the food is delicious and there are always plenty of fresh salads (watermelon, rocket, and mild goat cheese... Are you kidding me? Did you read my mind?) There are a few small tables outside in case you want to people watch the Aldgate East crowd but I also like to grab a corner table, throw on a podcast, and sip my weekend espresso in peace. Free WiFi is a big plus. I've never had a bad experience here. Several times the baristas have gone above and beyond, bringing me water I didn't ask for... One Sunday, after a few hours working, they even brought me an "extra" cappuccino they had accidentally made. Really, this true coffee shop love.

Kathryn S.

Yelp
This is such a funky little coffee shop. The shop itself is kind of hard to find as the name isn't on the sign (it's just a black sign). I stumbled upon it accidentally and was attracted by all the awesome looking pastries in the window. Even though it was busy (mid-day Wednesday), the service was very prompt and we didn't need to wait long. We just ordered coffees, but the coffees lived up to the reviews and was excellent! It even had cute foam art! The vibe is very cool with old looking wooden tables. There's some cool art on the wall with drawings that former customers have made on pastry bags. Overall, it's a great little place to have a chat and a cup of coffee. I would and will be visiting again!

Jen B.

Yelp
Charming cafe with outstanding coffee, pastries, and healthy snacks - I had roasted butternut squash with pumpkin seeds & goat cheese. Really wanted to try the polenta lemon cake . Free WiFi and places to sit. Highly recommend.

Katie M.

Yelp
I needed somewhere to hangout before I could check into my air bnb and this place was perfect. The squash and goat cheese quiche was delicious and the long Black was exactly what I needed after the overnight flight. It's a cute place with a lot of character and chill music. They also have free WiFi!

Irene J.

Yelp
Perfect little coffee shop/breakfast place in Whitechapel. Killer coffee and a great selection of pastries and small breakfast items. Loved it!

Paul W.

Yelp
Good cappuccino. Quiche Lorraine ok. Served half warm half cold. Service good. Nice ambiance.

Elizabeth P.

Yelp
Yummy, affordable, Delish quiches, muffolette, fresh vegetable juices, friendly staff, clean. 5 stars!

Brenda M.

Yelp
Excellent coffee! Loved the carrot cake and the flat bread chicken sandwich! Very friendly staff!

Peter S.

Yelp
Exmouth Coffee Company is as good as they say it is. I only had a single shot in my flat white but even with half the usual amount of coffee the depth of the roast came through clearly and strongly. Wow. They do food too which in my case (vegetarian pizza) was okay rather than stand-out. Still, I'm overlooking this given how unusually good the coffee was. ECC scores in other ways: friendly staff, reasonable number of tables and chairs, a warm space generally (not something that can be said for the white walls and clean lines of many a modern cafe), free wifi. Definitely somewhere I'd choose to hang out if I spent more time in East London.

Meinhard P.

Yelp
Perfect coffee; tested d flat white as well as espresso macchiato. Also lot of croissants and other snacks. Love it.

Miraj G.

Yelp
I do not know if it is because I am often visiting this place with a hangover and an empty stomach, or because the queue and the peering at the delicious baked delights, or even the cool 'no-name-hipster' vibe that oozes out of this establishment.. but this is one place you have got to go to ! I go for a fresh carrot and ginger juice to wake me up and make me feel all healthy and stuff. Then a standard panini with a side salad, they literally fill up the rest of the plate with the chosen salad(s) - the portions are perfect for hangovers and such. Definitely worth the wait.. but do keep an eye out for tables and for those who are waiting to take away, or sit down.. it is a busy place and the staff are brilliant and handle the peak times well with the space given. The decor is cool and hipster, much like Shoreditch. The food is varied with pizzas to paninis to delicious, healthy salads with beetroots and beefy tomatoes. A must for tourists, locals, passerby's.... and those as hungover as me on a Saturday/Sunday ! See you there this weekend !

Claudia C.

Yelp
No , no and no! If you want to meet The rudest staff you now know where to go!!!! My Américano was so bitter I had to ask for extra water , add sugar and still could not drink it The fruit Scone was nasty and The raspberry muffin was stale They have a tiny table outside :( The only silver lining is The súper fast wifi Walk half a block and you can get a fairly decent starbucks And there you have it !!!

Mun T.

Yelp
Good selection of pastries and sandwiches which were all quite tasty. They roast their own beans and have good consistent coffee as well. We like dining there as its a really chill out place with interesting people coming in and out. Really enjoy going to this local.

Julia M.

Yelp
Great coffee and service!! I came here one day and then came back the next day with my friends and they gave me a free pastry. Great place to sit and read or have conversation. And delicious pastries!

Connor B.

Yelp
One of my favourite coffee shops - it is a good strong coffee as well. The interior is white tiles, which wouldn't be my first choice, but it works. They offer an array of snacks and as I normally visit midday, there's always a nice atmosphere. However, there can sometimes be a bit of a queue.

John W.

Yelp
Nice little place! The vibe here is fantastic... Perfect noise level... Great music... Just good overall nice vibe. You know how some coffee shops feel like you entered a library? And others are so culturally void like Starbucks. Oh and fyi if you think the culture in Starbucks is real... Yeah that's called marketing. Anyway.... This place is real. Prices are good. Coffee (cappuccino and black coffee) is good (not amazing but certainly worth coming). I also had a quiche which was really tasty. My service experience was downright awful though... Friendly but wow really bad. Think high school kids running the place bad. That said I don't care, and don't take points off reviews for coffee and food places. I suppose if they shot me I would, but otherwise I think most looking for reviews (like me!) want to know about the ambiance and the quality of the product, which for this place is a 4 on quality and 5 on ambiance. Hope that helps Yelpers!

Oana A.

Yelp
Really friendly service, great coffee and a lot to chose from when it comes to eat something, breakfast or lunch. A great address!!!

Celia R.

Yelp
Cute little hispter cafe in Aldgate East. Great coffee! And what seemed like insane pastries!!

Chris M.

Yelp
Nice coffee shop with very good coffee (maybe a little pricey). The only thing is that there is an open small "kitchen" and therefore it is quite noise which ruined the ambient. Friendly staff.
