Esperance Café

Tried to buy a coffee here. The first question was if it was work or leisure visit... in a coffee place? Apparently they have a no-laptop policy on the weekend. You walk all the way here to have a coffee snack and book a flight on your laptop and get sent away. What’s next: no phones, no scarves, no sunglasses? For the attitude I would skip this place.

When I lived in Nantes this was a great place for coffee. After tasting coffee at other places around the world that have the same philosophy, I came back to taste coffee again. Finally, I have to say that coffee is not that good. I ordered some types and coffee came all the times acidic, many times cold, etc. But beans from this place are really good. On the top of this, many times I went there, I was asked to wait 15 minutes to get the coffee. I was never asked the same nowhere else.

This place served us the best hot chocolate (Italian) we had in France over a 3 week exploration of chocolate. The only problem was the cup was too deep for a finger to retrieve it all.

Coffee and dessert are quite good. The waiters are quite friendly. The location is terrific. We enjoyed the view on the Loire.

Lovely range of coffees. Excellent little pastries. Very friendly staff. A lovely little café well worth visiting.

Great coffee and cosy atmosphere! Not so crowded on an early Saturday afternoon. Large menu of coffee.

Hands down the best coffee I've had in Nantes. (In a city where it isn't easy to find good coffee...)

The espresso was excellent and the smell of roasting coffee beans was a great addition to the atmosphere.
