"Hidden between Ferrocarril and Jonquera streets is Plaça del Prim, a traditional Mediterranean square that really stands out from its renovated industrial surroundings. The restaurant has two differentiated areas, one maintaining the original marble tables and wooden features of the old tavern, and another two modern dining rooms that are characterized by coloured lighting and glass detailing. Although they present a contrast, they both reflect the values of the establishment, which we would define quite simply as pure quality. Not only because of the interiors and the amazing location, but because it serves the best fish in the city, hands down." - Little Buddha

Returning to this restaurant after a great experience in 2014 during the ESICM ICU congress, we had high hopes. The setting remains charming, with outdoor seating looking at old trees, but sadly, the kitchen falls far short of expectations. The shrimp, priced at €30, arrived lukewarm and lacking flavour. For such a cost, one would expect far more than a few almost tasteless bites. The fish presentation was similarly uninspired, though the flavour was passable. The Organic Pillars cow sirloin, at nearly €40, was a real disappointment—certainly not worth the price in any restaurant. Desserts were just about adequate, nothing exceptional, and certainly not enough to redeem the meal. In terms of value, €100 p.p. for a subpar meal with wine is hard to swallow. The friendly service doesn't make up for the lacklustre food. We won’t be recommending this spot to our colleagues. Sorry to say so.

Google
Els pescadors is located in a lovely square and has the atmosphere of a top class restaurant. The service and style also reflect that. The problem is the food is just so ordinary, with small portions at high prices. It is expensive and you leave feeling hungry.

Google
Located in a very nice area of Poblenou, on a small charming quiet place. Very wide choice of fresh fish & seafood from the Mediterranean, with a good choice of local wines. Good service, very good food. Prices are quite high given the portions size.

Google
Good Mediterranean Sea menu. Wine list is great. Some dishes might be small in portion to some audiences. We went during the week and it was very quiet.

Google
What an extraordinary experience it was to eat here. We came with family to celebrate an anniversary and every part of the experience, from our greeting to the cocktails, the meal, the wine, all was so beautifully prepared and the service was so kind and thoughtful. An elegant, fun meal, and the eight year old with us was as content as the 80 year old. Many thanks to this team. We hope to see you again soon.

Google
One of the most beautiful and hidden squares in Barcelona, with tradition and skill this place delivers consistent dishes every time we go. I've been going over 8 years and the respect for the ritual of eating is special in this place. The table setting, the impecable service, the surroundings and of course the spectacular food. This is a place to eat rice, drink wine and take your time. Won't disappoint.

Google
Every single element of this restaurant is like poetry. The traditional Catalán cuisine and particularly the assortment of seafood and wild fish will leave you doubting your choices since there are so many options. The staff are very humble and sweet in their welcome. Highly recommended.

Google
Fantastic lunch! And great wine list.

Yelp
This place should certainly get a Michelin star. The menu changes weekly depending upon what can be sourced locally. The many kinds of fish and shellfish are endless. The decision about what to eat was very difficult but I think we made the good choice. Started off with Oysters and a shellfish extravaganza. I had the cuddlefish/mussel/shrimp with linguini and my wife had the salted Icelandic cod fried then baked with white beans. Everything was delicious. Like the food, the wines are local Catalan or Spanish and excellent. Off the beaten path so don't worry about loud tourists, very romantic. And the owner is very attentive. Please go.

Yelp
Such a Beautiful place with incredible food (like unreal how good) and the sweetest chef/staff. You can feel just how much love, care and respect goes into the ingredients selected and the preparation. It was a dream to dine here during our stay in Barcelona. We are truly thankful for the experience.

Hans D.

Yelp
This place was ridiculously good! There are usually two main options in Barcelona: mediocre and touristy but quite cheap, or expensive but delicious. This place bridges that perfectly! Great food, really good service and still without breaking the bank. Hidden on a small square you can only reach through some alleys you will only see people here that have done their research and know why they choose this. This one goed on the "next time I'll come back" list.

Yelp
This was one of the best dinners we had in Barcelona. The green gazpacho was excellent. My husband had the suquet.. it was very good. My son had their goat dish which was great too and I had the turbot (fish) with fresh vegetables which was cooked in perfection. Service was excellent! Dessert menu looked very yummy, unfortunately tummy didn't have room. We're going to miss this beautiful city and their Mediterranean and authentic Catalan food. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I travel a lot and have the chance to eat at some of the top restaurants in the world. But let me tell you, it is amazing tucked-away gems like this that blow past all the fancy places. If you want the best dinner, prepared with the top Catalan ingredients available, then this is for you. Perfect setting on an old, tidy, and constantly occupied neighborhood square. Perfect ingredients fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced against one another. Excellent wait staff who were so helpful and knew exactly when to come talk and when to let us enjoy each others' company. I can't say enough about the food: the Catalan oyster with vinegar capsule is incredible (better than French or New England). The sea bass paired with simple potato slices and the famous Spanish onion was baked perfectly and filleted expertly at the table. And the honeycomb chocolate dessert was unrivaled - I have never tasted honey that sweet or that authentic. Even the Spanish olives and orange juice were each a delight in their own right. I personally crave the basic dishes, but done to perfection, and for me this was the best Barcelona had to offer!

Yelp
It's not lost on me that I am the only guy with a negative review on this platform. However, our experience merited such a rating. Our meal was strange from the start, mediocre during the meal and way way wayyyy too expensive at the end. The service was attentive and overall really good but the food just wasn't. Our appetizers were mushy and cold. Our shared plates were flavorful but quite cold. And our entree, while finally properly temperate, was not nearly worth the ~€30 we paid for it. I would also be remiss if I didn't address the fact that the whole vibe was off. There was no sound. Like none. Quiet whispers, no music, no clanging plates. Silence. Overall, we left with a lot of disappointment and the need to go get pizza nearby. P.S. From our experience, this didn't feel like a local spot. Everyone in there was speaking native English.

Yelp
Came here for lunch. Really wanted some navajas but they weren't available. Got a plate of jamon and waiter paired it with beautiful glass of wine. The compliment olives in the special marinate were to die for. Wishing I can have a huge plate of those special olives sent to the states!

Cinque T.

Yelp
Laimon provided us great service. Tasty food & good convo. The seafood noodles were also yummy.

Yelp
To start, I'd like to say that this is probably one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. If you've got the choice and the weather is nice, sit outside. The plaza, the narrow streets and the kids playing around all added to the neighborly atmosphere. It almost felt like a movie scene. Food was superb. The navajas are a must to try while in Spain, because they're not easy to find on the other side of the world. The choquitos followed up and then the cod, which was cooked to silky perfection and doused in a smoked cheese (!) sauce. For dessert, we had two different things: crema catalana and texturas de chocolate (chocolate textures). Both delicious, especially the chocolate one which came with different versions of chocolate served in a small glass jar. We had a couple of bottles of a nice, crisp white wine, which was recommended by the server (can't remember if it was a sommelier). Service was at the level of fine dining and wasn't ever pretentious or uncomfortable. This is a place I will be returning to and recommending highly to anyone who comes to Barcelona.

Yelp
Beautiful neighborhood restaurant with peaceful romantic setting. Excellent food & excellent staff. A great Barcelona seafood restaurant away from all the chaos! Perfect for a special date.

Yelp
Getting quality ingredients is a birthright to natives and it really shows. We were at Enoteca having dinner and asked to speak to the chef whom btw was just an awesome individual! We asked for a place he would recommend and he said that he lived in the area and said that the rice here was amazing. I want to clarify it is rice soupy rice and not paella. So no socarrat here. We ordered the cuttle fish in ink, the foie with blue cheese and pears, and the mussels with ginger. What can I say anything cooked in it's own juices can not be a bad thing. The foie with blue cheese and pears were simply amazing. the rice dishes that we ordered were the fisherman's stew, and the rice with morcilla and mushrooms. The fishermans stew was good but as with all that comes from the sea. It was a bit briney but the textura of the rice was perfect not mushy not hard but firm and with a little soup. The morcilla and mushroom was perfect not too much minerality from the the sausage but rather subtle. We also order the bacalao with potatos and romesco. I personally do not really enjoy the salt cod texture but this dish embodies what is really catalonian. The potatoes were done well the fish had some bite to it and the sauce was ever so nutty and with a little spice. I will be back to finish and eat more food from your beautiful bounty and was a little sorry I was a little hungover to eat more. Cheers and happy eats.

Yelp
Wow - had a fantastic dinner here! I have been to Barcelona several times previously but had never heard of Els Pescadors until a colleague of mine found it online and recommended we check it out. A little hard to find (even the taxi driver had a hard time) but really nice locals feeling spot with fantastic service once you arrive. We went on a Tuesday or Wednesday night at about 9 or 9:30, and were basically the only people in the restaurant even when we left 2 hours later. I suppose it can get quite busy on the weekends but it was eerily quiet the night we were there. Basic menu of fish and sea food but all prepared nicely. Foie gras starter is PLENTY big for 2 people to share (unless you REALLLLY like Foie) and should not be missed, they do Foie 3-4 different ways so there should be a preparation for everyone. Not inexpensive, but I will go back.

Yelp
We stumbled on this restaurant because of our wonderful book called 100% Barcelona, which gives you great tips on where the locals eat. My Dutchman was determined to find this restaurant after reading so many great reviews. The fact that we were hungry, tired and walking on foot to find this restaurant did not stop us from making the trip. Our sole objective was to enjoy some of the freshest seafood in Barcelona. This is the type of restaurant that you will not find so easily, so I would suggest making reservations first and then jumping into a taxi to head right over to Els Pescadors to enjoy a delicious meal. It's known for the best seafood in Barcelona. We were fortunate to dine outside on the terrace, so we could enjoy the amazing weather at night! It was a pleasurable experience to eat here.

Yelp
Nice off the beaten tourist path place to eat. It's in a nice little square with trees that my children would love to play on. Next time kids. - The dinner salad was fruity and nutty and a good starter - The baby squid were simply amazing. Tender and full of hearty flavor - My wife's salty cod tomato rice was rich, creamy, and delicious - My fish prepared in a suquet sauce was succulent and savory. Mixing it with the potatoes was perfect - Service was perfect

Yelp
Wonderful from start to finish!! The service was exceptional. Marc & Daniel were hospitable beyond expectation. We had the lobster for 2 special, anchovies, oysters & the salted cod croquettes. It was an amazing meal. And then came dessert!! Créme roll, lemon cake & créme brulèe ice cream!! Simply divine. The entire experience was simply perfect. L'hi agraïm!!

Yelp
I was not impressed. Though recommended by Barca friends and good reviews the food was average (overcooked fish, pricy gambas, ridiculous portion of bonito....) and the welcome so-so. We asked to sit outside, but weren"t allowed, though the table remained empty for the whole night. Won't go back and will not recommend it. They have good wines though!

Christina E.

Yelp
Muy caro por la cualidad. Era 64 Euros for a very small piece of fish and some potatoes for 2. Totally basic. We felt really scammed afterward. There are so many restaurants around. This one is small and usually requires a reservation. Check the menu before you sit!!

Sefa S.

Yelp
Please do not waste your money here. First night in Barcelona we came to this restaurant after reading reviews and boy were we disappointed.... bad bad bad food all round. Fishermans Rice was tasteless and my boyfriend had to add salt to every bite. I got some special that wasn't on the menu - shrimp and rice. I couldn't eat it after taking one bite. It tasted like sea water and the stuff that you clean out of a shrimp. Just awful. Unfortunately this place is over priced and over rated. Seriously bad food. Oh and don't get the cod fritters - just so bad :(

Skimmilk K.

Yelp
So so good!! The traditional tomato and oil on bread was some of the best I had while in Barcelona! I enjoyed my meal of green rice with cod cheeks and the waitress let me know that this was one of her favorite meals at the restaurant but only after I had finished it. My dining partner had the langoustines which were delicious and very fresh tasting. We were in the mood for something light for dessert. I had the mandarin sorbet which tasted as if they had grated some fresh rinds onto the sorbet...perfect and light. My dining partner had the Greek yogurt which was almost looked like a marshmallow as they had slightly brûléed the top. Very creamy. Overall, I would come back here anytime I was in Barcelona as it was not too expensive but just as delicious and maybe more so than the pricier meals I've had!

Yelp
Els Pescadors is in the beautiful Plaça Prim, in the neighbourhood and beachside area of Poblenou. The location is very pretty and sitting outside means you get a lovely setting whilst you eat your meal, especially in the evening. It gets quite a lot of customers so there is a pleasant atmosphere. The ambiance is formal and classy. The staff were very friendly and kind, and the service was fairly prompt even when it started to get busier. They were very helpful with recommendations of what to order. The food was tasty, especially the rice, which had lots of different flavours. The fish was OK, and if you really like fish then I'm sure you'd enjoy it. However, paying 28€ for fish and rice? A little overpriced for me. Whilst the scenery, interior and exterior of the restaurant was above average, I'm sure you could find cheaper and of only a slightly lower standard fish and rice elsewhere -- but Els Pescadors is good, especially if you want to splurge and have a luxury experience. However, for those on a budget, I wouldn't recommend Els Pescadors.

John C.

Yelp
This place should be rated as 3 euro signs rather than two. Pretty great eating here - we had the 'manager' come by and give us the low down on which fish and shellfish are currently available. They literally bring it out on a cart to show you which is mostly to visually show you what you're going to be eating and the other part of that is to sell you on it. The service was really quick, attentive and to the point. Everytime my wine glass became emtpy, the waiter would come in and fill it. This place is a bit pricey for what you get but I think it's good to splurge every now and then. I'd come back to this place!

Jan M.

Yelp
Very good fish restaurant, not cheap but very high quality. Located at a very nice little square

J Z.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic! We came in a multi-national group of 11 and were treated with the best ever service and food (we had the fresh sea bass, John Dory, Entercote (steak), most of the starters and dessert. Everything was great and everyone agreed. Our server, Beltran, was one of the most professional, efficient and enjoyable waiters with perfect timing and etiquette. FIVE stars! We highly recommend Els Pescadors.

Jon H.

Yelp
Excellent food. Service was wonderful. Our first restaurant in Barcelona and it was superb!!!' Thank you.

Rod D.

Yelp
Ambiance, well what can I say, European I guess. It is located in what seems to be a residential area with an open space part of which is turned to a al fresco dining area. Actually, my black fideo with fish was not too bad except for the fish being too dry. What irked me was the 2.5 euro each aubergine chips which was the size of button mushroom. Imagine paying 7.5 euros for 3 stir fried mushroom. My wife had a paella like dish that she did not finish and did not rave about. Staff were pleasant and quite attentive. Overall, ok but not worth the price they charge.

Kyle C.

Yelp
Stayed in gothic quarter and went here for last night in Barcelona. About a 20 min. Cab ride, so a bit out of the way and after eating here, I'd say not worth it. We had fritters for app, fried cod, and monkfish with mushrooms for our meals and chocolate honeycomb for dessert. Only cod dish was exceptional, rest was just okay at best. You pay a lot for each dish and should be wowed, but they are underperforming. And it appeared to show in crowd. Outside area had a decent amount of diners, but besides us, large inside area was completely empty at 2230. Not sure if Saturdays start later here, but wasn't a great sign. We had tapas the previous 2 nights at different places and it was cheaper and much better.

Sloan H.

Yelp
Lunch is a little less pricey. Dinner was wonderful. Highly suggest getting the aged t bone steak and sharing with someone. Wait staff was one of the best on the strip. Seats are more comfortable than the other 4 places. I'm allergic to most spices and they figured out how to accomdate. Made my night. We will go again.

Biggie F.

Yelp
I mean, this is such a pleasant place to have a meal ... Look, there hasn't been fresh seafood in Ashe County since the Pleistocene, when many of the local fossils were comparatively young Rotarians, so I may not be your go-to guy on, well, ... fish. This said, this place is a heck of a good fish restaurant. We had some wonderful moules for starters -- fresh, tasty, light. Went great with the ubiquitous toast with tomatoes. (I think "ubiquitous" might be Catalan for "toast with tomatoes.") Then the fishes themselves: a delicious cod, a mouth-watering dorade.... both baked, after a fashion, and served with various fixings (potatoes, onions, peppers) that tasted so good. The food is great and so is the atmosphere. You're in a charming, off-the-beaten-track neighborhood (assuming you're at the restaurant, not in Ashe County, which wasn't even charming during the Pleistocene) facing a quiet neighborhood square with a few great trees. It's quiet and lightly peopled. It's so nice. The people who run the restaurant are helpful and unpretentious -- professional but not unctious (or is *that* the Catalan word for "toast with tomatoes"?) We drank a high-end bottle of wine and ate all of the above (plus probably a bit of the writing on the plates, not to mention coffee and dessert) for 130 euros all-in. Although that is about 115 euros than we like to spend on dinner for two, in this case it was well worth it. Oh, yeah ... I just thought of something else ... Like I said above, the food is really excellent, and maybe if you are a person who goes out to eat for the food, that's enough to make this place five-stars. What I really like about it is the "two-fer" aspect: Great food *and* great locale. So what I find myself wondering is what the place is like when the weather is cold. The inside of the restaurant, like all other restaurants in Spain, is a mixture of traditional and 80s disco decor. The itinerant Basque football fans who had followed Athletic to Barcelona for the Copa del Rey certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves at a big table indoors, so maybe indoors is fine. Or maybe it's just easy to be in a good mood *before* the match.

Jerome M.

Yelp
Very local restaurant settle at very.quiet and typical Barcelona square. Very professional and authentic service, close from the beach but far from the crowd. Booking is needle for a terrasse seating. For fish lover.

MYRNA V.

Yelp
The best meal we have had in Barcelona. Service on point, wine selection offered to us was delicious and the freshness of the food, mostly seafood, was second to none.

Athena U.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful Best restaurant in Barcelona Love their seafood Excellent service Fantastic view

Jennyjoon S.

Yelp
This was a lovely place to have dinner, well off the beaten path. The prices were considerably higher than most places in the area, but the quality of the food and service matched it. To me the best part was watching the local kids play in the square while we ate our dinner.

Foto A.

Yelp
After hitting the beach, come here for that lazy two-hour lunch you crave. Out of the way gem filed with locals. A perfect break from the usual tapas, the menu provides delightful variety. The waiters bring out the fresh seafood to your table before preparing it. The rice dishes are packed with flavor. If your over seafood, don't miss the cabrito (baby goat) and potatoes. So tender, with crispy outside that is a little sweet from caramelized fat. Even the lemon cake dessert was exceptional! The service is not the fastest, but that's kinda the point.

Joe C.

Yelp
Els Pescateurs. 5/5. Truly fine dining in a part of Barcelona dominated by touristic, unserious food hawkers. Deeply serious about the Catalan food tradition, Els delivers intensely fresh seafood interpreted by local techniques, with a deep regional wine list in an elegant, sophisticated setting. The restaurant is in a beautiful small courtyard with three (fig?) trees with white tablecloth set tables outside and two food preparation tables directly in front of the tables. The courtyard was quiet and serene when I dined there at 10:30pm on a Monday night in August. It was lit by streetlamps of the square. The wine list was extensive and almost exclusively consisting of wines of the region. I had a Xarel Lo (grape) from Penedenes (region) that blew my mind. Tomato soup, if one could call it that was incredible. It was a puree of tomato, cucumber and Catalan aioli with Jamon silvers and a crunchy piece of toast. It really showed off the quality of the ingredients. Clams in white wine were delicious though somewhat conventional, and a seafood (anemone/jellyfish??) was like an oyster crossed with an urchin, served fried and mind broadening. The main dish I had was a fisherman's rice, which was essentially a risotto made with fish stew. This place was like a school devoted to the investigation of how to use local fish, produce, wine and make innovative but traditional dishes. Its not cheap so be ready to pay for the privilege of the education into Catalan food.

P D.

Yelp
After a busy day round the city (family 4) were looking for something really close to our appt (Lugaris Beach - big fan). Search on yelp showed Els Pescadors only a 2 min walk. So we just turned up with no reservation (Tue 11 Apr) and we're seated at a good table. Place doesn't look great from outside but inside is comfortable. If you're a seafoodie, you really must go. Although expensive the food really was the up there with the best we'd tried. Unanimous winners were the red prawns for starter and the Icelandic salted cod for main. So, perhaps a little out of the way for those staying in the city centre but it's really worth it.

Tim B.

Yelp
Our family went while in town on a weekend getaway. As mentioned in previous posts, the location is tucked away off the main roads in a very quaint mini plaza. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was as good as it gets. Incredibly attentive and very friendly. They were happy to help us out and make recommendations for our orders, and everything they recommended was amazing. Our visit here was a high point of our trip, and we will be sure to revisit anytime we are in town again!

Leticia D.

Yelp
I have been to Barcelona a couple of times because i have family here and this review is from my last trip that i forgot to do when i was last there before my daughter moved to NYC. Els Pascadors is by far the best seafood restaurant in Barcelona we made a dinner reservation which would be my recommendation because a lot of the locals go to eat there. Ask what the Chef's specials are because you might want to order from them since they get fresh fish in and they prepare it a very creative manner rather then from the regular menu. The menu will still be great to order from but i still think you would be smart to go with his recommendations; I ordered the salmon cooked in special seasoning with rice which really looked more like paella to me. We had appetizers, salad and sangria to drink. Let me tell you the Sangria in Spain taste nothing like the wine you would have here in USA, this is amazing red wine and it compliments the fish dinner.

Chelsey F.

Yelp
I was so excited to make this our special "last dinner in Barcelona" choice. Looking back I probably should have let the server order for us as I clearly chose the wrong items. The razor clams were good but a little overcooked. The salt cod rice was really boring! Mushy, overcooked and very little flavor. The main problem was the service as I think my server didn't like an American traveling with a 6 year old (who is extremely well behaved). We were rushed to order and then mostly ignored after that. I had to call our server over many times (and there were many of them....). His dinner was a tiny 4 oz portion of fish. Thank goodness they have good bread. His ice cream at the end was about a half of a scoop. On the good side the Panna cotta was delicious.

Paige B.

Yelp
Seriously such a good place, it's perfect for kids as well as just adults and the waitstaff is so nice and talkative, they gave great recommendations. The bread with tomato here is the best I've found in my week and a half in Barcelona. Sitting outside and enjoying the city while eating their tapas was a highlight of our trip! 10/10 would recommend.

David L.

Yelp
I am completely dumbfounded by the glorious reviews for this restaurant. It was recommended by the concierage at our hotel and we were expecting some very good fish. However, when we arrived there after a long cab ride, we were surprised at the lack of any ambiance and the rather amateurish way it was operated. If we hadn't come so far across town, we probably would have left. So we stayed and hoped that at least the food would be as good as we were told. It wasn't. We both ordered a salad and the seabass. The salad was a simple green salad with a few pieces of tomato and 3 green beans. We were offered some flavorless olive oil and some balsamic vinegar to put on it ourselves. The salad was something you might throw together from your fridge in a hurry but this one cost 11 euros. We also had two glasses of a red wine which was good but we were given about a fourth of a glass each. At this point we were still hoping that the fish would save the day. It didn't. The fish was presented mostly deboned but in lots of broken pieces on a plate with some slices of barely cooked potato smothered in that same flavorless olive oil, some sliced white onions also smothered in olive oil and a cooked whole tomato smothered in olive oil. Other than the flavorless olive oil, there was no seasoning of any kind on the fish or the potatoes or the onions or the tomato. That's it. That was the plate. And the taste? Almost no flavor of any kind. Ah, but the price? 42 euros! Over 50 USD. I cannot emphasize more what a complete sham of an experience this was and how grossly outrageous the price was (123 euros for our meal). Fortunately, we had good meals at other places in Barcelona: Bar Mut, Agua. This one should be avoided.
